Analyst Urges Calm Amidst Market Jitters, Citing Bitcoin’s Technical Strength
New York, NY – As anxieties surrounding a potential “Black Monday” crash ripple through online forums, cryptocurrency analysts are urging investors to temper their fears, pointing to technical indicators suggesting resilience in Bitcoin’s market.
On Monday morning, crypto analyst Sykodelic posted on X, formerly Twitter, highlighting that Bitcoin’s daily chart indicated a “breakout and retest of its previous high and its 50 EMA,” a key moving-average trend line. The analyst advised jittery traders to “relax.”
This commentary emerged as calls for a significant market downturn circulated online, even as U.S. stock futures showed an upward trend. In an October 19 post, Sykodelic noted that the “timeline has been in the depths of despair” despite Bitcoin’s daily chart appearing to demonstrate “a breakout and retest of the previous high, and 50 EMA.”
The trader characterized the prevailing bearish sentiment as “emotional and irrational,” adding, “There are definitely times to be cautious of price action. But at this time, with this move, this is not one of them.”
Ash Crypto echoed a similar sentiment around the same time, stating, “If people are calling for a Black Monday, it probably won’t happen.” The account further suggested that markets rarely unfold as universally expected and cautioned against making decisions based on fear. Hours into the anticipated crash, The Kobeissi Letter observed that Nasdaq 100 futures were up nearly 1%, and the S&P 500 was poised to add $350 billion in market capitalization at the opening bell, wryly commenting, “This aged well.”
At the time of this report, Bitcoin was trading near $83,000, having gained 1% over the past 24 hours. However, it remained down by the same percentage over the preceding seven days. Bitcoin’s dominance in the overall cryptocurrency market stood at over 58%, within a market valued at approximately $2.83 trillion, according to CoinGecko data.
Ethereum was trading around $2,400, marking a 4.6% decline since the previous Monday. Other major altcoins have experienced steeper losses, with XRP down nearly 7% in seven days to $1.31, and Solana falling by more than 5% over the last week to approximately $106. Monero was a notable exception, posting an 11% gain during the same period.
Sykodelic’s optimistic outlook follows a challenging week for the cryptocurrency market. Bitcoin experienced a brief flash crash over the weekend, dipping from around $81,600 to $80,750 before recovering. Both Ethereum and AI-linked stock perpetuals also saw declines and subsequent rebounds.
Earlier in the week, inflation data had exerted downward pressure on prices. September consumer inflation figures came in slightly above expectations, and producer prices recorded their largest monthly increase in over four years. Bitcoin briefly fell below the $80,000 mark, its first dip below this level in approximately a month, before staging a recovery.
In an October 15 analysis, The Kobeissi Letter had previously described a “stealth” bear market lurking beneath the S&P 500’s headline performance. The analysis claimed that 84% of the index’s constituents were trading at least 10% below their respective highs, and that a mere 10 stocks were responsible for 70% of the index’s gains since March 30.
