Solana (SOL) Price Analysis: Navigating a Horizontal Channel
Data from CoinMarketCap indicates that Solana (SOL) has experienced no significant net price change over the past month. However, daily price analysis reveals that the cryptocurrency reached a local peak near $97 in early May before entering its current downtrend. The Solana market is currently dominated by bearish sentiment, mirroring the broader market, as evidenced by a 4.09% weekly price loss.
Market Analyst’s Insights
In a May 30 post on X, market analyst Ali Martinez provided key insights into the Solana market, highlighting a horizontal channel formation on the daily chart. This channel, characterized by two parallel lines acting as support and resistance, suggests a period of consolidation. A breakout above the resistance level would signal bullish momentum, while a breakdown below support would indicate bearish pressure.
Key Price Levels and Potential Scenarios
According to Martinez’s analysis, Solana has been trading within its current horizontal channel since early February. During this time, the cryptocurrency has consistently found resistance around $97.79, with retests in March and April. The channel’s support level is around $78.17, a level tested in February and April.
Following a recent price rejection at the upper boundary in May, Solana is heading towards its support level at $78.17, with current prices hovering around $83. Martinez emphasizes that market bulls must maintain the support line to preserve the range-bound structure. A successful retest of $78.17 could lead to a price recovery towards the mid-range of the horizontal channel at $87. Conversely, a breakdown below the support level could expose Solana to further downside, with an immediate target of $58, representing a potential 30% loss from current market prices.
Current Market Status
At the time of writing, SOL is trading at $82.91, reflecting a minor 0.22% gain in the last day. Daily trading volume has decreased by 33% to $2.22 billion. These metrics suggest a market characterized by reduced participation and transaction activity.
Data from SoSoValue indicates that US SOL Spot ETFs have maintained a net positive weekly performance for the fourth consecutive week. However, net inflows have declined since peaking at $58.12 million in the second week of May. These figures reached $2.36 million in the fourth week of May, representing an 84% decrease from the $15.63 million recorded in the third week.
