Bitcoin Volatility Surge Expected

Bitcoin Volatility Alert: Is BTC in for a Rollercoaster Ride Soon?

For months, Bitcoin’s price action has been largely subdued, with only occasional, brief surges of several thousand dollars within a 24-hour period. The cryptocurrency has been trading sideways, oscillating between $58,000 and $65,000, with little to no clear indication of an impending breakout.

However, analyst Ali Martinez has highlighted a historical pattern that has previously preceded significant market volatility. The crucial question now is whether history will repeat itself.

Many have become accustomed to Bitcoin’s notorious price swings. While some critics view this volatility as a significant drawback, others were drawn into the cryptocurrency ecosystem precisely because of it, finding it adds an element of excitement. Without this dynamism, Bitcoin and the broader market can feel unnervingly stagnant. In fact, the CEO of CryptoQuant recently argued that boredom, rather than another price crash, poses the greatest risk to Bitcoin.

Martinez informed his more than 165,000 followers on X that this prolonged period of stagnation could soon come to an end. His prediction is based on Bitcoin’s historical performance following movements of dormant BTC.

“A significant amount of dormant Bitcoin (BTC) has moved on-chain over the past 24 hours. Historically, spikes in old coins changing hands often precede major market moves,” he stated in a post titled “high volatility alert!”

The cryptocurrency did experience some fluctuation mid-week, surging from below $62,000 to $65,500 within a single day after the release of lower-than-expected US CPI data for June. However, this was a minor blip in the context of its broader, sluggish macroeconomic performance.

Meanwhile, another prominent analyst, Kaleo, suggested that this anticipated volatility could materialize as early as the current or next day.

“Think we see a nice little weekend pump from Bitcoin and ETH this weekend,” Kaleo posted.

Michaël van de Poppe also commented on Bitcoin’s recent performance, noting that the asset “looks fine, still” as long as it maintains a price above the $60,000-$61,000 range. He emphasized that a definitive confirmation of a more positive trend would be a decisive break above $65,000.

In a subsequent post, van de Poppe shared a chart of Bitcoin, describing it as “primed for a breakout upwards.” He reiterated the significance of the $65,000 resistance level, which he anticipates will be overcome next week.

This is a great chart of #Bitcoin and it looks primed for a breakout upwards.
Sure, markets tested whether there was enough pressure to push prices down today.
Clearly, there’s more demand.
