Bitcoin Holds Support Ahead of US CPI; Traders Watch Key Factors

Bitcoin traders are bracing for inflation-driven volatility as the cryptocurrency’s price action has held firm above a critical weekly support level of $82,500.

Bitcoin (BTC) is entering the third week of October by defending the $82,500 support mark, with key U.S. inflation data on the horizon.

    Key Economic Indicators in Focus

This week, traders are closely watching U.S. inflation figures ahead of the Federal Open Market Committee’s (FOMC) interest-rate policy meeting on October 28. The September Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Producer Price Index (PPI) are scheduled for release on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.

In August, the CPI registered a year-on-year increase of 3.4%, largely in line with expectations. However, markets are now anticipating an uptick to 3.7% this month, influenced by ongoing military conflicts in the Middle East and subsequent surges in fuel prices. The PPI is projected to show a 0.3% month-on-month increase, compared to 0.2% in August.

Historically, cryptocurrencies, stocks, and gold tend to perform well when inflation readings are lower than expected. Such outcomes reduce the likelihood of the Federal Reserve tightening its monetary policy, thereby encouraging capital inflows. Tim Waterer, chief market analyst at KCM Trade, highlighted the potential impact of a surprise downside surprise in CPI and PPI readings on gold prices and U.S. bond yields.

“In the short term, a cooler-than-expected U.S. inflation reading would be the clearest near-term catalyst, as it would reduce the odds of further Fed tightening and ease pressure on real yields,” Waterer told Reuters.

Current market sentiment, as indicated by CME FedWatch, suggests an 18.8% probability of a rate hike at the October 28 meeting, which would move the federal funds rate from its current 3.75-4.00% range. The subsequent meeting in December shows a higher probability, with markets assigning a 70.6% chance of a 25-basis-point hike to 4.00-4.25%.

    Geopolitical Developments and Market Reactions

Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh is scheduled to participate in a discussion with Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), at an event in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday.

U.S. bond yields have retreated from 24-year highs reached last week. On Monday, the 10-year Treasury yield stood at 5.24%, and the 30-year yield was at 5.60%.

Stock futures showed positive movement at the start of the week, with the S&P 500 index up 0.25% and approximately 30 points shy of its all-time highs.

An announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding a deal to purchase 300,000 tons of diesel from Russia appeared to have a limited impact on oil prices, as the proposal faces growing bipartisan opposition. Trump also declared an “energy ceasefire” between Russia and Ukraine.

“Effective immediately, there is an ENERGY CEASEFIRE in the War between Russia and Ukraine. Both parties have agreed,” Trump posted on Truth Social on Sunday. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated he was unaware of such an energy ceasefire.

West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude traded around $91.50 per barrel on Monday, a 2% increase from its daily low of $89.60. Data from motorist group AAA indicated the average price of diesel at $6.26 per gallon, down from the all-time high of $6.52 recorded on September 22.

Tamas Varga, an analyst at PVM, commented to Reuters that Russia’s reduced export capacity made the impact of the diesel deal “questionable.” He added, “However, Moscow has partially lifted its ban on diesel exports, allowing 500,000 tonnes (around 3.7 million barrels) to be released onto the international market, equivalent to roughly one day of U.S. consumption and around 13% of global demand.”

    Bitcoin’s Technical Outlook

At approximately $83,700 on Bitstamp, Sunday’s weekly candle close marked a 3.2% decline for BTC/USD over the past week.

Despite the weekly dip, the pair successfully maintained a crucial support level at $82,500 on weekly charts, thereby preventing a return to its prior long-term trading range between $60,000 and $80,000. As previously reported, $82,500 remains a critical line in the sand for Bitcoin bulls.

Last week, trader and analyst Rekt Capital noted that a weekly close above $82,500 would signify a “successful” retest of support. This could encourage investors to continue accumulating BTC at current levels, potentially paving the way for further upward movement, similar to Bitcoin’s recovery from its 2022 bear market.

In light of Bitcoin’s multiple retests of support following its initial breakout in July, trader and analyst Aksel Kibar has drawn parallels between the cryptocurrency and stock markets. Since May, the S&P 500 has undergone several retests of key levels, first at 7,300 points and subsequently at 7,600 points.

Kibar suggested in an X post on Sunday that Bitcoin might be experiencing a “hard retest” of support, implying that BTC/USD could trend higher if these retests continue to prove successful.

  • Bitcoin, Ether ETFs See $1.22 Billion Outflow in One Week

Bitcoin, Ether ETFs See $1.22 Billion Outflow in One Week

Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs See Significant Outflows

US spot Bitcoin and Ethereum exchange-traded funds experienced substantial net outflows totaling over $1.22 billion during the trading week of October 5-9, 2026. This reversal impacted both of the cryptocurrency market’s leading ETF categories simultaneously.

Bitcoin Funds Face Weakest Week Since June

Bitcoin ETFs recorded their weakest performance since late June, with net redemptions ranging from approximately $679 million to $681 million for the week. This marked the end of a three-week period of consistent inflows for the group. The most significant selling pressure occurred midweek, when Bitcoin products saw their largest single-day exit, with redemptions between $484 million and $487 million.

Ethereum ETFs Post Largest Weekly Withdrawal Since January 2026

Ethereum ETFs endured a challenging week, shedding around $542 million across five consecutive days of outflows. This figure represents the largest weekly withdrawal for Ether products since January 2026 and extended their losing streak to nine consecutive trading sessions.

    Combined Outflows Exceed $1.2 Billion

When combined, the net outflows for Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs reached approximately $1.22 billion for the week.

    BlackRock ETFs Among Those Affected

The largest issuer in the space, BlackRock, saw its iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) and its Ethereum counterpart (ETHA) account for significant portions of the overall outflows.

    Solana ETFs End Inflow Streak

Solana ETFs also experienced outflows, with approximately $25 million withdrawn, ending a 14-week streak of inflows.

    Year-to-Date Inflows Remain Positive

Despite the recent redemptions, year-to-date inflows for both Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs remain in positive territory, indicating that the current week’s outflows have not erased the year’s gains.

Market Volatility and Regulatory Developments Influence Trends

The significant withdrawals occurred amidst ongoing regulatory developments and general market volatility. The widespread nature of the selling, affecting Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana products simultaneously, is a notable observation. Furthermore, the extended outflow streak for Ether funds and the termination of Solana’s inflow streak add further layers to the market sentiment.

ETF redemptions can exert pressure on spot markets, as issuers may be compelled to reduce their underlying holdings when investors withdraw capital. The concentration of Bitcoin outflows within a single midweek session could suggest repositioning by a few large holders. For Ethereum, the longer outflow streak and the substantial weekly total paint a less optimistic picture.

  • Payward Secures Final VARA Approval for UAE Launch

Payward Secures Final VARA Approval for UAE Launch

Kraken Secures Full Market Approval in UAE, Expanding Global Reach

Kraken’s parent company, Payward, has officially received Full Market Approval from Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) for its subsidiary, Payward FZCO. This significant development, granted on October 12, 2026, paves the way for Kraken to commence serving clients in the United Arab Emirates within the coming weeks, offering a range of services including trading, staking, and transfers.

    VASP Classification and Client Scope

The approval designates Payward as a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP), categorizing it under broker-dealer, investment, and management services. This comprehensive license extends to retail, professional, and institutional clients, meaning both individual users and large corporations can engage with Kraken’s offerings from the outset.

    Initial Service Offerings

Upon launch, clients in the UAE will have the ability to execute spot and margin trades on currency pairs denominated in the UAE dirham (AED). Spot trading involves the direct purchase and sale of assets, while margin trading allows users to borrow funds to amplify their position size, thereby increasing potential gains and losses.

Furthermore, clients will gain access to on-chain staking, a process where users lock up specific tokens to support blockchain network security, typically in exchange for rewards. Kraken’s local entity will also facilitate direct funding and withdrawals in dirhams, streamlining financial operations for its UAE-based clientele.

    Institutional Services and Global Liquidity

Kraken is also targeting institutional investors with its Kraken Prime service, which will provide access to over-the-counter (OTC) trading and other advanced services. OTC desks are designed to handle large trades privately, preventing significant market price fluctuations before a transaction is completed. Kraken asserts that these institutional clients will benefit from deep liquidity sourced from its extensive global order books, which span Europe, the United States, and the APAC region.

    Regulatory Timeline and Future Ambitions

The path to full approval involved a preliminary green light from VARA on May 21, 2026, approximately five months prior to the final authorization. While the initial launch will feature a defined set of services, Payward has outlined plans to introduce additional offerings, including derivatives and yield products, throughout 2026 and 2027. These future expansions are contingent upon securing further regulatory approvals from VARA.

Dubai has been actively positioning itself as a regulated hub for digital assets. VARA, established in 2022, is tasked with overseeing virtual asset activities within the emirate, excluding those within the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). The authority maintains a public registry of licensed virtual asset service providers.

With this latest approval, the UAE joins the more than 100 jurisdictions globally where Payward holds licenses, bringing Kraken’s operations under local regulatory supervision.

  • Crypto Rally: NEAR, FIL, ICP Surge Double Digits; BTC Stalls at $84K

Crypto Rally: NEAR, FIL, ICP Surge Double Digits; BTC Stalls at $84K

Bitcoin Stalls Below $84,000 as Altcoins Show Strength

Bitcoin is struggling to regain its footing following a significant downturn at the close of the previous trading week, with its latest upward movement capped at $84,000. Meanwhile, a majority of altcoins are trading in positive territory, with Ether surpassing the $2,550 mark and XRP rebounding above $1.40. Zcash has seen a 7% increase, and Hype is once again approaching the $90 level.

Earlier in the week, the primary cryptocurrency attempted to breach the significant $87,000 resistance, but was quickly pushed back to just under $85,000. A subsequent bounce reached a lower high of $86,600 before facing renewed selling pressure. This bearish sentiment intensified, leading to a more pronounced decline.

The $85,000 support level proved insufficient for Bitcoin, causing it to fall to $83,500. Following another failed attempt at recovery, the digital asset experienced a sharp drop to $80,400, a level not seen in over two weeks.

After shedding nearly $7,000 in a matter of days, Bitcoin was poised for a recovery. It rose to $83,500 on Friday, where it encountered resistance. The weekend saw trading consolidate around $83,000 before a jump to over $84,000 earlier today, occurring despite heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

However, sellers re-emerged, pushing the price back below that level. Bitcoin’s market capitalization has seen a modest recovery, reaching $1.680 trillion according to CoinMarketCap, while its dominance over altcoins has dipped to 59.35%.

    Altcoins Surge Amidst Bitcoin’s Consolidation

Despite substantial net outflows from spot Ethereum ETFs last week, Ether’s price has climbed over 2% in the past 24 hours, trading above $2,550. Ripple’s native token, XRP, has also broken through the key $1.40 level, a barrier it had been contending with for days. Other cryptocurrencies showing gains include Solana, Dogecoin, Chainlink, Hype, Tron, Binance Coin, Monero, and Cardano.

Zcash has reclaimed the $1,300 mark following a 6.3% surge. NEAR Protocol continues its impressive rally with another double-digit increase, reaching $5.80. Internet Computer, Filecoin, Zerox, Algorand, and VVV are also among the notable double-digit gainers.

The total market capitalization of all crypto assets has increased by 1% to $2.830 trillion on CoinMarketCap.

Jeonbuk Bank Offers First Bitcoin-Backed Corporate Loans

Jeonbuk Bank Pioneers Bitcoin-Backed Corporate Loans in South Korea

Seoul, South Korea – October 12, 2026 – Jeonbuk Bank has launched South Korea’s inaugural loan program that allows businesses to secure Korean won financing by using Bitcoin as collateral. The initiative, unveiled today, initially targets corporate clients requiring capital for operational expenses, with potential future expansion contingent on regulatory developments and market demand.

The program, announced on October 12, 2026, represents a significant stride towards CEO Park Choon-won’s ambition to cultivate a “crypto bank.” Currently, only registered corporate customers are eligible to apply, and the facility exclusively accepts Bitcoin as collateral. Borrowers can utilize the secured funds for various business expenditures, including payroll, supplier payments, and other operational costs. Individual customers are not permitted to participate in this program.

The bank has opted for Bitcoin due to its substantial market capitalization and trading volume within the cryptocurrency landscape. Jeonbuk Bank also conducted successful tests to assess Bitcoin’s performance as collateral during periods of significant price volatility.

Jeong Sang-hoon, Vice President of Jeonbuk Bank’s Digital Division, stated, “We will continue to enhance our digital asset financial capabilities in line with future changes in relevant laws and regulations.”

Jeonbuk Bank will not directly hold or manage the pledged Bitcoin. Instead, the cryptocurrency will be entrusted to approved custody providers that adhere to South Korea’s stringent security and regulatory mandates. These providers must possess Information Security Management System (ISMS) certification and comply with the Virtual Asset User Protection Act.

To mitigate the impact of sharp price fluctuations on individual trading platforms, the bank will determine the collateral value of Bitcoin by calculating a weighted average price derived from multiple global exchanges.

The program also incorporates specific protocols for managing loan defaults. In instances where a business fails to repay its loan, Jeonbuk Bank cannot unilaterally seize and liquidate the Bitcoin collateral. Under South Korea’s revised Civil Execution Rules, which became effective on October 1, 2026, the bank is required to obtain a court order to proceed with the sale of the collateral through a public auction to recover the outstanding debt. This procedural step introduces an additional layer of oversight to the lending arrangement.

South Korea is not the sole nation exploring the potential of Bitcoin-backed loans. Global financial institutions such as JPMorgan Chase and Swiss bank Sygnum have also introduced comparable lending services, signaling a growing trend in the utilization of digital assets as collateral.

  • Auto Order Routing for Spot Trading Launched

Auto Order Routing for Spot Trading Launched

Binance Introduces Automatic Order Routing to Enhance Liquidity

Binance has launched a new Automatic Order Routing feature designed to improve trading efficiency, particularly for pairs with lower liquidity or those quoted in local fiat currencies. The feature aims to provide users with access to deeper market liquidity more seamlessly.

Previously, traders often had to execute multi-step manual processes to access better pricing, incurring trading fees at each stage. For instance, converting one currency to USDT and then USDT to another asset like Bitcoin (BTC) would involve separate transactions. The new Automatic Order Routing system automates this entire process in the background. Users will now incur a single trading fee, applied at the standard rate and deducted from the receiving asset of the executed pair. For example, a sell order for BTC denominated in a local currency, if routed through BTC/USDT, would have its fee charged in USDT. The usual BNB fee discount remains applicable if enabled. The system allows users to trade into their desired asset via the most optimal route with a single click.

Binance notes that while price improvement is a potential benefit, it is not guaranteed as order books are dynamic and can change after a routing decision is made.

    Improved Liquidity and Fee Structure

With Auto Order Routing enabled, Binance’s system will compare the local currency order book with intermediary order books to identify and route the order through the path offering the best quoted price.

The feature operates without additional fees beyond the standard Binance Spot trading fee, which is determined by the user’s VIP tier and BNB discount status. Binance will not charge a commission for the conversion of intermediary quote currencies, such as USDT to a local currency, that are part of the routed path. However, standard market spreads will still apply.

    User Control and Availability

Users can enable or disable Auto Order Routing through the “Trading Mode” dropdown menu on the trading page. When the feature is disabled, orders will be routed exclusively to the local currency pair.

The rollout of Auto Order Routing will be gradual across the platform. Trading pairs eligible for this feature will be clearly indicated on the trading interface. Users are advised to verify the eligibility of a trading pair before placing an order.

Auto Order Routing may be subject to availability for eligible users in specific countries and is not intended for users subject to any applicable restrictions or prohibitions.

Further details can be found in Binance’s FAQ section.

  • This Week’s Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP Price Analysis: CPI Data Dominates

This Week’s Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP Price Analysis: CPI Data Dominates

Bitcoin Navigates Key Levels Amidst Shifting Market Sentiment

Bitcoin is currently trading within defined support and resistance zones, with bearish divergence capping its short-term upward momentum. Other major cryptocurrencies, including Ethereum, Solana, XRP, and Chainlink, are also experiencing consolidation around significant price points. Market participants are keenly awaiting key U.S. economic data, specifically Wednesday’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation report and Thursday’s Producer Price Index (PPI) figures, for insights into the Federal Reserve’s potential policy adjustments. Fluctuations in oil prices and the U.S. dollar are also being monitored as potential influences on market sentiment. These macroeconomic factors could play a crucial role in Bitcoin’s recovery trajectory and the overall direction of the cryptocurrency market.

    Bitcoin’s Sideways Drift

Bitcoin has been confined to a trading range between support levels of $80,000 to $82,000 and resistance at $86,000 to $88,000. The cryptocurrency has encountered persistent difficulty in breaking through this upper resistance in recent weeks.

Bearish divergence observed on both daily and three-day charts suggests that buying pressure remains subdued. Should Bitcoin fail to surmount its current resistance, it may continue to trade sideways or experience a modest decline.

A liquidation heatmap highlights a liquidity zone between $84,500 and $84,600, which could serve as a short-term price target. However, a move to this level is not assured.

Despite the short-term headwinds, the weekly Supertrend indicator remains in bullish territory, and a longer-term bullish divergence persists. These indicators collectively suggest that the broader trend for Bitcoin remains positive, even with current limitations on short-term momentum.

    Ethereum’s Consolidation

Ethereum’s price is holding firm near the $2,400 support level, but similar to Bitcoin, bearish divergence is hindering its short-term upward movement.

A decisive break below the $2,300 mark could undermine Ethereum’s current bullish structure. Until such a move occurs, the cryptocurrency is likely to continue consolidating around its present price levels.

Ethereum’s price action may also mirror Bitcoin’s, given that both digital assets are trading within established ranges.

    Solana’s Holding Pattern

Solana is maintaining its position above the $107 to $110 support zone. While its broader price structure remains bullish, bearish divergence indicates that significant near-term gains may be constrained.

Solana could potentially consolidate above its support rather than immediately challenging recent highs. Sustained upward movement will likely depend on prevailing market conditions and the resurgence of buying momentum.

    XRP’s Range-Bound Trading

XRP continues to trade within a range of approximately $1.30 to $1.60. Bearish divergence on the daily chart signals a lack of robust buying momentum.

The price may remain within this established range or experience a minor pullback if buyers are unable to drive it higher. Bitcoin’s next significant price move could also influence XRP’s short-term direction.

    Chainlink’s Resistance Challenge

Chainlink has shown resilience, recovering from the $11.80 to $12.30 support zone, but now faces resistance between $14.10 and $14.40.

Bearish divergence on the three-day chart suggests that Chainlink may continue to consolidate below this resistance level. While its overall bullish structure remains intact, a sustained push above $14.40 would be necessary to signal further upside potential.

    Broader Market Influences

The reopening of the U.S. stock market could impact cryptocurrency trading this week as investors assess broader market conditions. Currently, technical analysis points towards a period of consolidation for Bitcoin and its major altcoin counterparts. Bitcoin’s ability to either break through its resistance levels or hold its support zone will be a key determinant of the next short-term direction for the wider cryptocurrency market.

  • SEC Considers New Paths to Accredited Investor Status

SEC Considers New Paths to Accredited Investor Status

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has proposed changes to the definition of an accredited investor, potentially broadening access to private markets for individuals who do not meet current wealth-based criteria. The proposals, unveiled on September 30, 2026, aim to allow individuals to qualify as accredited investors through professional credentials or by passing a knowledge-based exam.

Currently, individuals typically qualify as accredited investors if they have a net worth of at least $1 million (excluding their primary residence) or have an individual income of $200,000 or a joint income of $300,000 over the past two years. The SEC’s proposed expansion seeks to introduce alternative pathways to accreditation.

One of the proposed new routes involves passing a knowledge-based exam. This exam would be administered by FINRA, consist of approximately 75 questions, cost around $100, and be valid for 10 years upon passing. The public comment period for these proposals is open until December 4, 2026.

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has publicly supported the SEC’s initiative, framing it as a significant step toward increasing access to private markets for more Americans. SEC Chairman Paul Atkins has also emphasized the importance of expanding participation in private capital markets while maintaining safeguards against fraud.

Firms are increasingly staying private for longer periods, meaning a substantial portion of their value creation occurs before ordinary investors can participate in public markets. The SEC’s proposed changes could allow more individuals to invest in these early-stage opportunities, though the final form of the rules remains uncertain. The extent to which Coinbase might leverage these potential changes to facilitate tokenized offerings or pre-IPO investments is also a point of future development.

    Why This Matters

The SEC’s proposal to expand the definition of an accredited investor aims to allow individuals to qualify through professional credentials or by passing an exam, potentially increasing participation in private markets. This shift could create new opportunities for companies like Coinbase, which has publicly supported the initiative, by potentially facilitating tokenized offerings and pre-IPO investments under a clearer regulatory framework. However, the final form of these rule changes and their exact impact remain uncertain.

    Broader Context

For decades, access to private markets has been primarily determined by wealth. The SEC’s proposed changes introduce the possibility of a knowledge-based assessment as an alternative qualification, alongside existing wealth thresholds. This represents a potential evolution in how investor sophistication is evaluated for participation in private capital markets.

  • Pando Finance Solana ETF to Launch on HKEX October 13

Pando Finance Solana ETF to Launch on HKEX October 13

Hong Kong Set to Welcome Second Spot Solana ETF

Hong Kong is poised to introduce its second spot Solana Exchange Traded Fund (ETF), with Pando Finance’s offering slated to commence trading on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on October 13, 2026, under the ticker 2831.HK.

    Passive Investment Strategy

The fund operates as a passive investment vehicle, designed to mirror the performance of the CME CF Solana Dollar Index. Specifically, it tracks a variant of the index that is based on Asia Pacific closing prices.

    Subscription and Pricing Details

The subscription period for the fund ran from October 6 to October 12. The indicative issue price per share is set between HKD 7.8 and HKD 8.0. As shares are traded in lots of 100, the initial investment required is approximately HKD 800 per lot.

    Fee Structure and Investment Exposure

The fund carries a management fee of 0.6%. However, the estimated ongoing charges ratio is higher, at 1.6%, indicating that the total cost of holding the fund will exceed the headline management fee. Investors should note that the fund will not distribute dividends and will not employ leverage, providing straightforward, one-to-one exposure to the index.

    Regulatory Approval and Licensing

An official circular from the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX), dated October 9, 2026, confirmed the fund’s eligibility, along with its custody and settlement arrangements. Pando Finance possesses the necessary licenses to allocate 100% of a portfolio to virtual assets, a prerequisite for the operation of a fully crypto-backed fund of this nature.

    Pando Finance’s ETF Lineup

This marks Pando Finance’s third spot virtual asset ETF. The firm has previously launched Bitcoin and Ethereum products, meaning the Solana fund represents an expansion of its existing offerings rather than a new venture.

    Competitive Landscape

Pando Finance is not the first to bring a spot Solana ETF to the Hong Kong market. Huaxia has already launched a similar product, trading under the ticker 03460. Globally, spot Solana ETFs collectively manage approximately $1.9 billion in net assets and have attracted around $1.6 billion in cumulative inflows, according to a statement from Solana.

    Institutional Access and Future Comparisons

For institutional investors whose mandates prohibit direct cryptocurrency holdings, an exchange-listed fund managed by a licensed entity offers a pathway to investment. With two Solana ETFs now available in Hong Kong, comparisons will likely focus on costs, trading volumes, and tracking accuracy. Pando’s estimated ongoing charges of 1.6% are expected to be a significant factor in these evaluations.

    Valuation and Returns

The fund’s valuation, pegged to the Asia Pacific closing price, is aligned with Hong Kong’s trading hours. Given the absence of dividends, investor returns will be solely dependent on the price movements of Solana, net of all fees.

  • 3iQ Secures In-Principle Approval for Abu Dhabi Category 4 License

3iQ Secures In-Principle Approval for Abu Dhabi Category 4 License

3iQ Secures Key Regulatory Approval in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, UAE – Crypto investment manager 3iQ Corp. has taken a significant step towards establishing regulated operations in Abu Dhabi, with its United Arab Emirates-based subsidiary, 3iQ Middle East Ltd, receiving in-principle approval for a Category 4 license. The announcement was made on October 12, 2026.

    Financial Services Authority Greenlights Expansion

The approval was granted by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) of Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM). Full operational permissions are contingent upon 3iQ Middle East meeting further regulatory conditions.

A Category 4 license authorizes 3iQ Middle East to function in an advisory capacity and to offer non-discretionary investment arrangements. This means the firm can recommend and facilitate deals, but clients will retain ultimate decision-making authority over transactions.

Global Strategy Includes Abu Dhabi Hub

3iQ views this Abu Dhabi approval as integral to its broader strategy of building regulated operations in key digital asset markets worldwide. The company sees its presence in Abu Dhabi as crucial for serving accredited investors on a global scale.

    Partnership Fuels Institutional Access

The license announcement coincides with a strategic partnership between 3iQ and Further, a local digital asset investment manager. This collaboration aims to enhance institutional access to digital assets via 3iQ’s Managed Account Platform, known as QMAP. QMAP has already secured $100 million in seed capital, linked to sovereign investment.

Proven Track Record in Regulated Products

3iQ is no stranger to regulated cryptocurrency products, having previously launched the first Bitcoin and Ethereum Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) on a major stock exchange.

Arvind Ramamurthy, Chief Market Development Officer at ADGM, commented that the in-principle approval underscores the growing interest from international firms in the region’s digital asset landscape.

Local Presence to Attract Institutional Clients

The advisory and arranging license in Abu Dhabi, coupled with the QMAP platform and the partnership with Further, provides 3iQ with a local foundation to engage institutional clients in the region. This development is expected to bolster investor confidence in Abu Dhabi’s digital asset market.

    Milestone Achieved, Further Steps Remain

While the in-principle approval represents a significant milestone, it is not the final step. 3iQ Middle East must satisfy all remaining regulatory conditions before it can operate with full permissions. The timeline for this process has not yet been specified.

3iQ’s expansion into Abu Dhabi could potentially encourage other firms to explore similar ventures within the UAE’s burgeoning digital asset sector.
