XRP’s Technical Shift: Breakout or Breakdown?

XRP Attempts to Break Out Stalled

Ripple’s cross-border token, XRP, has made several attempts to break out of its consolidation range, but each surge has been halted between $1.50 and $1.60.

Analyst Views Diverge on XRP’s Trajectory

Analyst Ali Martinez has claimed that XRP’s breakout has been confirmed, though not in the way that bullish investors might hope. After months of trading sideways, primarily between $1.35 and $1.50, the altcoin briefly surpassed the upper boundary last week, reaching $1.55. However, the rally was short-lived, with XRP quickly retreating to $1.40.

The token then declined further on Friday and Saturday, mirroring the broader market’s downturn amid concerns about the potential breakdown of the US-Iran ceasefire. XRP fell below $1.30 for the first time since early April, hitting a multi-week low, accompanied by a significant drop in network usage.

Martinez’s analysis, released during the crash, suggested that XRP was breaking out after breaching the rising trend line of a symmetrical triangle on the daily chart, predicting a further drop to $1.14.

However, subsequent progress in the US-Iran peace talks pushed the market upward, with XRP rebounding to $1.36. Despite this, it remains below the lower boundary of the symmetrical triangle identified by Martinez.

Conflicting Signals from Market Observers

CRYPTOWZRD offered a different perspective, noting that XRP had closed bullishly on the daily chart but needed to reclaim the $1.40 resistance level to initiate a more substantial rally.

Meanwhile, analyst CW presented a chart indicating that top traders on Binance had begun closing their short XRP positions and opening long positions, suggesting that whales “are ending their XRP bearish bets.”
