XRP Investors’ Fears Grow Amid Potential Rebound

XRP Sentiment Dips to Three-Week Low, Entering “FUD Zone”

According to a Santiment Intelligence chart shared on X, crowd sentiment surrounding XRP has reached its weakest point in three weeks, placing the token within what the analytics firm terms a historically relevant “FUD zone.” Santiment reported that the ratio of positive to negative social media commentary regarding XRP has fallen to just 1.1 bullish comments for every bearish comment.

The chart indicates that the positive-to-negative sentiment ratio was approximately 1.104 on May 25, nearing the lower fear threshold identified by Santiment, while XRP’s price hovered around the mid-$1.30 range.

“XRP’s crowd sentiment has swung sharply negative again, with the ratio of positive to negative commentary dropping to just 1.1 bullish comments for every 1 bearish comment,” Santiment stated. “Historically, this kind of fear and skepticism has often acted as a contrarian signal for XRP’s price.”

Implications for XRP Price

The significance of this signal does not lie in bearish commentary surpassing bullish commentary. Instead, it highlights a sharp compression in the balance of social discussion toward parity. For a token heavily influenced by retail sentiment, legal developments, exchange-flow speculation, and broader altcoin risk appetite, a significant decline in crowd confidence can be significant, potentially indicating that bullish positioning has already been reduced.

Santiment presented this development as a potential contrarian setup. The firm suggests that when traders exhibit unusual fear, weaker holders may have already exited, thereby decreasing marginal selling pressure and fostering conditions for stabilization.

“When traders across social media become overly fearful, many weak hands have already sold, reducing selling pressure and creating conditions for a rebound,” Santiment said. “The below chart shows that previous dips into the ‘FUD zone’ were frequently followed by price stabilization or bounces shortly afterward.”

The chart contrasts this lower fear band with a higher “FOMO zone,” where crowd optimism is elevated. Santiment’s historical framework is straightforward: extreme pessimism can coincide with the exhaustion of selling, while extreme enthusiasm can appear near local peaks because a large number of market participants are already positioned for gains.

“The opposite effect can happen during periods of extreme excitement and hype,” Santiment wrote. “When the positive-to-negative sentiment ratio rises deep into the ‘FOMO zone,’ it usually means traders are becoming overly confident and aggressively buying based on fear of missing out. Those moments often occur close to local tops because too many traders are already positioned bullishly, leaving fewer new buyers available to keep prices rising.”

It is important to note that Santiment is not predicting a guaranteed rebound. Instead, the data suggests that the current sentiment environment has historically been more conducive to short-term recovery attempts than periods of heightened crowd optimism. Santiment advised traders to monitor XRP’s “elevated fear level,” noting that this zone has historically increased the likelihood of a short-term bounce or recovery.

At the time of this report, XRP was trading at $1.34.
