Binance has launched Auto Order Routing (AOR) on its Spot platform, a new feature designed to optimize trade execution for specific trading pairs. This system automatically selects the most favorable execution path for user orders by comparing direct trading pairs with those routed through a more liquid intermediary pair.
The AOR feature was unveiled by Binance on October 12, 2026, and is scheduled to go live on eligible pairs by October 20, 2026. The primary objective of AOR is to enhance pricing and mitigate potential double fees for users, particularly in markets involving local currencies or those with lower liquidity.
Binance explains that AOR functions by evaluating the order book of a direct trading pair against a route that utilizes a more liquid intermediary pair. The system then selects the path offering the superior price at the moment of execution. According to Binance, users will incur only one standard Spot trading fee, determined by their VIP tier and any applicable discounts for using Binance Coin (BNB). No additional commission is charged by Binance for the intermediary conversion, though standard spreads still apply to trades executed via AOR.
The AOR feature accommodates Limit GTC, Limit IOC, Market Buy, and Market Sell order types. Users will have the option to enable or disable the feature. The initial rollout includes U-quoted symbols such as those paired with USD and USDC. Binance has indicated that support for other currencies will follow pending necessary regulatory approval.
Binance is positioning AOR as a targeted upgrade aimed at improving efficiency in lower-volume markets, rather than a comprehensive overhaul of its trading platform. The focus is on enhancing the trading experience for users in less liquid markets, while heavily traded pairs are expected to continue executing efficiently.
Several aspects of AOR’s impact remain subject to observation. The successful expansion of currency support is contingent upon regulatory approval. Furthermore, there is limited independent data available on the extent to which AOR actually improves trade fills, and no quantified market impact figures have been published to date, making the real-world effect on users and pricing difficult to ascertain at this stage.
One signal suggests that AOR’s fee structure could incentivize trades in previously less efficient markets, as a two-step trade incurring the same headline fee as a one-step trade removes a common deterrent to routing. However, the ultimate benefit of routing through an intermediary pair is dependent on the depth of the intermediate pair’s market at the time of execution, as each market crossing involves its own spread.
