Ripple Ecosystem Developments and XRP Price Update
This review examines key news, partnerships, and advancements within the broader Ripple ecosystem, highlighting the company’s ongoing efforts to bolster its regulatory and institutional presence. We also assess the latest developments concerning XRP Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), which have seen modest positive news, and analyze the price performance of the underlying asset.
Regulatory Stance and Institutional Expansion
Earlier this week, Ripple announced its support for the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) proposed framework for regulating crypto assets. The company emphasized the industry’s need for clear legislative guidelines rather than an enforcement-driven approach. Ripple specifically endorsed the principle that an investment contract, not the token itself, should define whether an asset is considered a security. The firm also voiced concerns about certain classifications that could reintroduce regulatory ambiguity.
In parallel, Ripple has expanded its institutional offerings by introducing 24/7 Real-World Asset (RWA) perpetual swaps through its prime brokerage, Ripple Prime. Furthermore, Cross River Bank has partnered with Ripple to integrate the latter’s stablecoin, RLUSD, into its banking platform.
XRP Ledger Upgrade and Adoption Milestones
New developments have emerged regarding the latest XRP Ledger upgrade. The fixCleanup340 amendment, initially slated for activation on Friday, October 23, faced a delay. This postponement occurred when validator support briefly dipped below the required 80% threshold just two days prior to the scheduled implementation, pushing the activation to November.
On the adoption front, Ripple’s cross-border token has launched its official X account. The account garnered nearly 50,000 followers within hours of its debut and has since surpassed 150,000 followers. Prominent accounts, including Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, Gemini, Uphold, Flare, and MoonPay, were among the first to welcome the new official presence.
XRP ETF Performance and Market Sentiment
Over the weekend, CryptoPotato reported that a prolonged streak of positive performance for crypto ETFs had concluded. After 13 consecutive weeks of net inflows, spot XRP ETFs experienced minor outflows totaling less than $2 million in the week ending October 15. This marks a significant shift from the substantial $75 million in net inflows recorded just weeks prior. While this reversal does not negate the prior strong performance, it suggests a cooling of institutional interest, mirroring broader market stagnation.
The current business week has further solidified this trend, with XRP ETFs showing no reportable flows for two consecutive days. October 21 marked the first day with inflows, though the amount was less than $1 million.
XRP Price Analysis and Technical Outlook
The native token of the Ripple ecosystem attempted a breakout yesterday, aligning with broader market movements. As Bitcoin approached $85,000 and Ethereum briefly surpassed $2,500, XRP surged to nearly $1.40, its highest point in ten days. However, market weakness led to a rejection, and XRP is currently trading at $1.33.
The asset’s current price configuration presents a mixed outlook. Santiment’s 365-day MVRV data places XRP at approximately 0.92, indicating that the average buyer over the past year is currently at a loss. Historically, this positions the token in a relatively more favorable, lower-risk zone, although MVRV alone does not guarantee a price recovery.
Exchange activity offers less encouraging signals. Smaller withdrawals from Binance have reached their highest share since October 2024, while the proportion of whale-sized transfers has decreased. Collectively, XRP reserves across Binance, Upbit, and Bithumb have seen an increase of approximately $120 million.
From a technical perspective, $1.33 remains a critical level following the recent rejection. Analyst ChartNerd has cautioned that sustained weekly closes below the 20-week Exponential Moving Average (EMA) could lead to a retest of the $1.00 level. Conversely, reclaiming $1.33 could pave the way for a move towards $1.50-$1.55, with potential upside towards $2.00.
