XRP ETFs Outperform Major Rivals Amidst Broader Market Downturn
In a challenging market environment for most exchange-traded funds focused on major cryptocurrencies, those tracking XRP have managed to sustain a streak of monthly gains. However, two significant issues warrant attention, indicating that the positive performance is not without its drawbacks.
Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs Face Significant Outflows
Spot Bitcoin ETFs experienced substantial inflows on certain days in October, but the trend reversed sharply towards the end of the month. The Binance hack is widely considered the primary catalyst that prompted investors to withdraw funds, resulting in net outflows exceeding $500 million by the month’s close. The situation for Ethereum ETFs was even more dire, with the funds recording their largest monthly outflows ever, totaling more than $1.6 billion.
XRP ETFs Show Resilience with Consistent Inflows
In contrast, spot XRP ETFs concluded the past week with $4.32 million in net inflows, building on the $4.25 million from the preceding week. These inflows helped to offset minor losses incurred mid-month, allowing the financial vehicles to finish October with a net inflow of $18.83 million.
This sustained performance pushed the cumulative net inflows to a new all-time high of $1.81 billion in October. Notably, this marks the seventh consecutive month of positive performance for XRP ETFs. In fact, they have only experienced a single month of losses since their inception one year ago, in March 2026.
Bitwise’s XRP ETF continues to lead the pack with cumulative flows of $682 million, followed by Franklin’s XRPZ with $524 million, and Canary Capital’s XRPC with $485 million.
The strong performance of these ETFs coincides with a highly successful month for Ripple, which announced significant regulatory approvals, along with new partnerships and developments.
Underlying Asset Fails to Mirror ETF Success
Despite the positive ETF performance, two key concerns remain. The first is that while the ETFs achieved monthly gains, October represented their second-worst performance in terms of inflow volume. The $18.83 million attracted is only marginally higher than the $15.59 million gained in January.
The second, and perhaps more concerning, issue for XRP enthusiasts is that the underlying asset has failed to capitalize on the positive momentum. Despite consecutive months of gains for the ETFs and Ripple’s notable achievements, XRP faced rejection at the $1.50 mark earlier this month and subsequently fell below $1.20 following the Binance hack.
Although XRP saw a slight rebound to approximately $1.25 by the end of the month, it closed October with a significant 16% loss. This marks its weakest monthly performance since June and breaks a three-month streak of gains from July, August, and September.
