  • XRP Faces Price Uncertainty Amid Analyst Repricing Speculation

XRP Faces Price Uncertainty Amid Analyst Repricing Speculation

XRP is currently trading around $1.07, experiencing a period of price weakness that has led some analysts to suggest a significant repricing could occur in the coming months. However, the market outlook remains uncertain, with conflicting signals and inherent limitations in predicting future price movements.

    Analyst Perspectives on XRP’s Trajectory

Crypto analyst ChartNerd believes XRP’s current testing of support near $1.06 is part of a broader crypto correction. He views this period as a normal correction within a larger trend, suggesting that a potential drop below $1 could present a long-term buying opportunity. Analyst EGRAG CRYPTO has identified $1.05 as a key support level, referring to it as a “battlefield” for the asset.

    Current Market Performance and Technicals

At the time of writing on August 3, XRP was trading at approximately $1.07. The cryptocurrency has seen a 1% decrease in the last 24 hours and a nearly 3% drop over the past seven days. Over the last three months, XRP has lost about 24% of its value and remains more than 70% below its all-time high of near $3.65, which was reached in July 2025.

Technically, XRP is observed to be within a falling wedge pattern, approaching a six-year support zone. Analysts note that the token is testing the $1.06 support area after failing to break above its daily 20 Exponential Moving Average (EMA) near $1.08. Further resistance levels are identified at the 50 EMA around $1.12 and a price point of $1.16. A successful defense of the $1.05 area could potentially push XRP back toward $1.10, while a notable move below this zone could expose it to the $1 support level.

    Conflicting Market Signals

Despite the price action, Ripple has announced investments in Zilo and Licuido, companies focused on tokenized funds and institutional asset infrastructure. However, institutional interest, as indicated by spot XRP Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs), has shown a declining trend in net inflows. These ETFs recorded $27 million in net inflows in July, a significant decrease from $60 million in June and $132 million in May. This trend suggests XRP is struggling to maintain higher price levels following its mid-July rally.

    Interpreting the Uncertainty

The interpretation of these market signals varies. While some analysts see the current weakness as a potential precursor to a major repricing, others highlight the declining ETF inflows as a sign of waning institutional interest or difficulty in sustaining recent price movement. The possibility of XRP dropping below $1 is framed by some as a “golden ticket” entry point for long-term investors, emphasizing that the lower the price goes, the better the long-term opportunity becomes, depending on perspective.

Key uncertainties remain regarding the exact timing and magnitude of any potential repricing, as well as whether XRP will indeed break below the $1 support level. The performance of altcoins relative to Bitcoin also adds another layer of complexity to the market outlook. Therefore, while analyst commentary points to potential future price movements, the current market conditions present a landscape of considerable uncertainty.

  • Marmot Researchers Seek OnlyFans Funding Amidst Meme Coin Surge

Marmot Researchers Seek OnlyFans Funding Amidst Meme Coin Surge

Scientists Turn to OnlyFans and Crypto for Funding Amidst Declining Research Grants

Researchers at UCLA, grappling with dwindling traditional funding for a decades-long wildlife study, have found an unexpected lifeline in the unconventional corners of internet culture. The project, which has meticulously tracked yellow-bellied marmots in Colorado since 1962, has launched an OnlyFans account and inadvertently inspired a cryptocurrency trend.

“OnlyMarms” Account Offers “Uncensored” Wildlife Content

The initiative, dubbed “OnlyMarms,” was conceived by Professor Daniel Blumstein as securing research grants became increasingly challenging. A graduate student coined the account’s name, and the team embraced the playful premise, promising subscribers “uncensored marmot content.” Blumstein noted that the platform has also served as a novel avenue for reaching new audiences.

“Maybe this is a different audience than, you know, most of our science communication reaches,” Blumstein told NPR in an interview. “That’s great. Turns out, it’s even bigger than this.”

The OnlyFans account has so far generated approximately $4,000. However, Blumstein emphasized that the marmot project requires an annual budget of $75,000 to $100,000 to support graduate students and fieldwork, a level of funding once consistently provided by federal grants.

Meme Coins Emerge Inspired by Marmot Research

The UCLA marmot project has also captured the attention of the cryptocurrency community. Several meme coins inspired by “OnlyMarms” have surfaced on the platform Pump.fun. While the creators of these tokens remain unidentified and their direct connection to the UCLA research team is unconfirmed, Blumstein stated that the researchers themselves did not initiate their creation.

“People have independently created a meme coin and told us to grab the transaction—to register it, and then we get the transaction fees. And that is blowing up,” he explained. “Apparently, this is a meme coin for good that people like.”

This phenomenon is not unprecedented, as internet-famous animals have previously inspired cryptocurrencies. In 2024, the Solana token Moo Deng, based on a viral pygmy hippo, launched on Pump.fun and briefly achieved a market capitalization of around $680 million before being listed on major exchanges, including Coinbase.

    Broader Efforts to Secure Funding

Beyond online ventures, the researchers have also engaged in other fundraising efforts. They have partnered with a Colorado brewery to create a “Marmot Tears” IPA and organized a public “Fat Marmot Week” competition.

Blumstein views these unconventional funding strategies as a stark reflection of the current state of scientific funding in the United States. He expressed dismay at the necessity of such measures, contrasting it with the research funding landscape during his graduate school years.

“No. It’s appalling,” he stated. “What we’re doing is destroying the scientific structure and the university-federal partnerships that made us great, made us rich, made us the scientific leaders of the world. It’s being taken apart, and that’s really sad.”

Ex-FBI Agent Accused of $1M Crypto Theft, ChatGPT Investment Advice

Former FBI Agent Charged with Stealing $1 Million in Cryptocurrency

A former FBI supervisory special agent has been charged with stealing nearly $1 million in cryptocurrency from wallets linked to FBI counterintelligence investigations. Court documents also reveal he later sought advice from ChatGPT on how to invest the stolen funds and relocate overseas.

Patrick Steven Yaroch was charged on Friday with interstate transportation of stolen goods and receipt of stolen goods. Prosecutors allege the thefts occurred between early 2025 and July 2026, during which time Yaroch worked in the FBI’s Counterintelligence and Espionage Division and held a Top Secret security clearance.

“During the afternoon of July 28, 2026, Yaroch contacted DOJ Employee 1 via Signal and requested to meet to discuss personal matters,” prosecutors stated in the complaint. “Upon meeting DOJ Employee 1 at FBI headquarters, Yaroch immediately started to break down as he told his story.”

According to investigators, Yaroch admitted to accessing FBI systems to obtain cryptocurrency wallet seed phrases connected to investigations involving an unnamed foreign adversary. He allegedly memorized these recovery phrases, created his own cryptocurrency wallet, and transferred funds into accounts under his control approximately 10 times. He told investigators the holdings eventually grew to about $1 million.

During searches of his home and devices, investigators recovered a Trezor hardware wallet and handwritten cryptocurrency seed phrases. According to the affidavit, agents found a Kraken account with a balance of approximately $188,570, including roughly $166,000 in U.S. dollars and nearly $18,000 in USDC, along with small amounts of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

Investigators also recovered several ChatGPT conversations from Yaroch’s phone. According to the affidavit, on May 28, he asked how he should invest or spend $1 million “to maximize profit and return.” Less than a week later, he inquired about what someone with about $1 million should do to leave the U.S. and become a resident or citizen of a European Union country. Later searches included queries about whether Americans need a visa when connecting through Turkey and assistance in drafting a follow-up email regarding a job opportunity and life in Greece.

Investigators also found evidence of a planned family trip to Portugal, power-of-attorney documents related to Portugal, and what prosecutors described as previously unreported foreign travel. Prosecutors argue that this evidence, along with Yaroch’s admissions and the recovered cryptocurrency, established probable cause for his arrest on July 31.

“FBI WF Agents mentioned to Yaroch that they located the power of attorney forms for Portugal,” the complaint stated. “Yaroch stated he was not planning to funnel money into Portugal. Yaroch told FBI WF Agents that his family had a trip planned to Portugal in September 2026 to meet friends. Yaroch realized he might not be able to attend the trip but stated he hoped his wife and child would still go on the trip.”

  • Shiba Inu Token Burns Increase Significantly in July, Limited Impact on Supply Noted

Shiba Inu Token Burns Increase Significantly in July, Limited Impact on Supply Noted

In July, the Shiba Inu (SHIB) token burn rate saw a substantial increase, with over 3.2 billion SHIB tokens transferred to a null address. This represents a 1,395% surge compared to the burn rate observed in June. Despite the significant volume of tokens removed from circulation, the U.S. dollar equivalent of these July burns was less than $17,000. This highlights a persistent challenge for the Shiba Inu ecosystem: the sheer scale of its circulating supply, which currently stands at over 585 trillion coins.

On July 27 alone, nearly 1.3 billion SHIB tokens were burned, accounting for a substantial portion of the month’s total burn activity. While the core purpose of the token burning mechanism is to reduce supply and potentially increase value through scarcity, the effectiveness of these burns in making a tangible impact on SHIB’s overall supply remains a subject of discussion. With such a vast number of tokens in circulation, the current burn rates may have a limited effect on driving significant price appreciation.

This surge in token burns has coincided with a modest price increase for Shiba Inu, which has seen its value jump by 10% within the last 30 days. However, analysts caution against drawing direct causal links, emphasizing that market performance is influenced by numerous factors.

August 1 marked the sixth anniversary of the Shiba Inu project. While many in the community offered congratulations, a notable segment expressed disappointment. These users had anticipated significant ecosystem updates or major announcements to coincide with the anniversary. Instead, the project team reflected on its journey from “zero to a global movement,” stating that “the experiment continues.” This sentiment underscores a broader concern within parts of the community regarding the pace of development and the long-term value proposition of the SHIB token, especially in light of its historical price performance.

Uncertainty remains regarding the long-term impact of the burning mechanism on SHIB’s value, particularly given the enormous circulating supply. The effectiveness of future burn initiatives and the development of the Shiba Inu ecosystem will be key factors to watch. The mixed community sentiment, highlighted by reactions to the anniversary, suggests a desire for more concrete progress and tangible developments beyond token burn metrics.

    Why This Matters

The materials describe a narrow update: In July, over 3. The exact USD equivalent of the SHIB burned in July.

White House Silence Stalls CLARITY Act Progress

The White House has failed to respond to a critical counterproposal regarding the CLARITY Act, casting further doubt on the legislation’s prospects, according to a report by journalist Eleanor Terrett.

The development comes after supporters had anticipated significant movement over the weekend. Earlier this week, Senators Thom Tillis and Ruben Gallego had advocated for enhanced ethics provisions, proposing that state attorneys general be empowered to enforce laws against federal officials.

However, Terrett updated on Monday, citing a source familiar with the matter, that the White House has not yet provided a response to this counterproposal. “A deal on the CLARITY Act’s biggest outstanding issue has yet to materialize heading into the week of a potential vote,” she stated.

The likelihood of the legislation’s approval continues to diminish amid the lack of tangible progress. Current assessments from Washington experts and prediction markets indicate that the probability of the bill passing has fallen to 28%, a significant drop from approximately 70% earlier this year.

  • Crypto Privacy Tools Offer Essential Protection: ChangeNOW, CoinRabbit Report

Crypto Privacy Tools Offer Essential Protection: ChangeNOW, CoinRabbit Report

Crypto Privacy Tools Offer Essential Protections, New Report Argues

Cryptocurrency privacy tools provide “essential protective functions” that restore a degree of financial privacy previously taken for granted in traditional finance, according to a new report from non-custodial crypto platform ChangeNOW and digital asset management platform CoinRabbit.

The report, which draws on data from sources including TRM Labs, Chainalysis, the RAND Corporation, and the authors’ own internal research, highlights the risks associated with data exposure on conventional public blockchains. These risks encompass financial access for individuals under economic sanctions and authoritarian regimes, corporate sovereignty for companies transitioning to blockchain infrastructure, and individual security against scams and “wrench attacks.”

The report contends that sanctions disproportionately affect those least able to influence the actions being punished. It cites the example of Iran being cut off from SWIFT, which prevented ordinary citizens from receiving foreign payments, purchasing imported goods, and collecting family remittances, while the political elite maintained alternative channels. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has stated that Operation Economic Fury seized approximately $1 billion in Iranian crypto, including a $344 million USDT freeze on the Tron network.

Corporate treasuries face a different kind of exposure. The report notes that any entity with access to a company’s wallet address can reconstruct its vendor relationships, payment frequencies, estimated payroll, and supply chain dependencies – data that would remain confidential in a traditional banking environment. Research from Statista cited in the paper indicates that 36% of board members are concerned about internal data becoming public, with the average data breach costing $4.44 million.

High-net-worth crypto holders are also personally vulnerable due to the transparency of conventional blockchain infrastructure, particularly in the context of “wrench attacks.” Walter Barrett, Chief Strategy & Growth Officer at CoinRabbit, commented, “Public blockchain transparency allows anyone to audit your net worth in real time, turning private wealth into public information.”

This transparency carries significant risks. CertiK reported 52 verified wrench attacks in the first half of 2026, resulting in the exposure of $124.1 million – nearly 12 times the figure from the first half of 2025. France accounted for 33 of these incidents, following breaches at France Travail and ANTS that enabled attackers to link home addresses to suspected crypto holdings. French prosecutors have since charged 88 individuals, including more than 10 minors.

Furthermore, blockchain transparency aids scammers in identifying high-value targets. Internal CoinRabbit research found that approximately half of surveyed high-net-worth holders had experienced a targeted social engineering attempt within three years, and that 30% utilize data-broker removal services to sever the link between their identity and on-chain activity.

The report emphasizes that crypto privacy is a double-edged sword. The authors reference TRM Labs data indicating total illicit crypto inflows of $158 billion for 2025, a 145% increase, with Chinese-language escrow and laundering networks accounting for over $100 billion. “Pig-butchering” fraud caused $75 billion in losses between 2020 and 2024, and 84% of verified fraud and scam inflows now occur via stablecoin rails.

Despite these challenges, the authors argue that the primary vulnerability for enforcement “lies at the fiat off-ramps” where crypto is converted into spendable currency, “not within the upstream transactional privacy infrastructure.”

Albert Quehenberger, founder of AQ Forensics, stated that privacy does not impede investigators. He explained that while it “may increase the complexity of an investigation,” it “rarely determines whether a criminal can ultimately be identified.” Attribution, he noted, is achieved through on-chain analysis, KYC records, exchange cooperation, and stablecoin issuer intervention, rather than “relying on blockchain transparency alone.”

The report’s authors highlighted their own platforms as examples of best-practice privacy-preserving crypto architecture, citing ChangeNOW’s private transfer routing and CoinRabbit’s custodial model.

“The privacy debate starts from the wrong assumption that ordinary users must prove they have nothing to hide by exposing everything,” said Pauline Shangett, Chief Strategy Officer at ChangeNOW. She advocated for the crypto industry to “build systems where access is justified, targeted, and lawful, not universal by default.”

  • Solo Bitcoin Miner Earns ~$200,000 Reward in Statistically Rare Block Find

Solo Bitcoin Miner Earns ~$200,000 Reward in Statistically Rare Block Find

A solo Bitcoin miner has achieved a significant financial milestone by successfully mining block 960,804, earning a reward valued at approximately $200,000. The block was solved on Monday at 02:11 UTC. This event, while a substantial gain for the individual, is a statistically rare occurrence within the current Bitcoin network.

The reward comprised 3.15689830 BTC, consisting of a 3.125 BTC block subsidy and 0.032 BTC in transaction fees from the 4,243 transactions included in the block. The winning address was bc1qdyqjq9qccp34pyv3kxmsrkn7p0amnsqqy8kdeq.

Bitcoin mining is a competitive process where miners use computational power to solve complex cryptographic puzzles. The first to solve a puzzle for a block receives the reward. The current block subsidy of 3.125 BTC halves roughly every four years; the next halving is expected around block 1,050,000 in spring 2028, reducing the subsidy to 1.5625 BTC.

The solo miner’s hashrate peaked at 100 PH, representing approximately 0.011% of the Bitcoin network’s total hashrate of 924 EH/s. Given the network’s immense computational power, the probability of a solo miner finding a block is extremely low. For perspective, a hobbyist miner with a typical 100 TH/s machine faces odds closer to 1 in 62,750 daily, with an estimated average wait time of 172 years.

Services like CKPool facilitate solo mining by allowing miners to direct their hardware’s processing power without running a full Bitcoin node, taking a 2% cut of any found block. This success occurred despite recent market disruptions, including an exploit of the Coldcard hardware wallet, which reportedly coincided with estimated losses of $114 million.

At the time of the find, Bitcoin traded around $63,700, up 1.1% on the day, per CoinGecko data. Previous solo mining finds have yielded varying dollar amounts, such as $266,000, $365,000, and $350,000, primarily reflecting Bitcoin’s price fluctuations rather than changes in mining odds.

This event underscores the statistical improbability of solo mining success. The Bitcoin network’s hashrate continues to grow, making it increasingly challenging for individual miners to compete without pooled resources. Notably, users on the prediction market Myriad remain bearish, assigning a 68% chance to Bitcoin’s next move being towards $55,000.

This success highlights Bitcoin mining’s fundamental mechanics and the role of probability. While the miner’s achievement is notable, such outcomes are governed by probability and are not predictable or easily replicable for the average miner.

    Why This Matters

The materials describe a narrow update: A solo Bitcoin miner, using CKPool’s service, successfully mined block 960,804, receiving a reward of 3. The exact duration of the miner’s hashrate peak.

    Broader Context

Source materials place the factual news in this context: Bitcoin mining pits machines against each other to solve a cryptographic puzzle, with the winner taking the block reward—currently 3.125 BTC, a figure that halves roughly every four years.

  • Trump Bitcoin Holdings Surpass 8,000 BTC After Record Mining Quarter

Trump Bitcoin Holdings Surpass 8,000 BTC After Record Mining Quarter

American Bitcoin Boosts Holdings to Over 8,000 BTC, Reports Record Production

American Bitcoin, a company with backing from the Trump family, announced Monday that it expanded its Bitcoin reserve to over 8,000 BTC, valued at approximately $512 million, during the second quarter. This expansion followed a record production of 932 Bitcoin, underscoring the company’s strategy of combining large-scale mining operations with long-term asset accumulation.

According to the company, American Bitcoin concluded June with roughly 8,002 BTC in its reserves, marking a 14% increase from approximately 7,021 BTC at the end of March. This growth was driven by the company achieving its highest quarterly Bitcoin production since its launch in September.

“Our view of the world is simple: Bitcoin is a growing capital asset, and we believe its long-term compounding will outperform our cost of capital,” stated CEO Mike Ho. “Despite Bitcoin headwinds in Q2, we stayed focused on what we can control: we delivered our highest quarterly production on record, grew our strategic reserve to over 8,000 Bitcoin, and strengthened the foundation of our business.”

Mining revenue for the quarter rose to $67 million, up from $62.1 million in the first quarter. The company reported that its cost to mine a Bitcoin remained relatively stable at about $36,500, despite an increase in energy costs. American Bitcoin indicated that its gross margin stayed close to 50%, even as Bitcoin’s average price saw a decline of approximately 12% compared to the previous quarter.

The company also reported a net loss of $57.2 million, an improvement from the $81.8 million loss recorded in the first quarter.

Co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer Eric Trump highlighted the quarter as evidence of the company’s rapid growth and its long-term Bitcoin strategy. “A little over a year ago, American Bitcoin was just an idea. Today, we hold more than 8,000 Bitcoin, operate one of the world’s largest Bitcoin mining platforms, and just delivered our highest quarterly production on record,” Trump said in a statement. “Our conviction in Bitcoin remains absolute, and our goal is simple: to deliver relentless growth, quarter after quarter, and build the preeminent American Bitcoin powerhouse for the long haul.”

However, this announcement comes after a period of significant volatility for American Bitcoin. In March, the company disclosed that it had surpassed 7,000 BTC in holdings less than seven months after its Nasdaq debut. This news coincided with its shares falling to their lowest price since going public, trading approximately 94% below their post-initial public offering peak. In May, American Bitcoin reported an $82 million net loss for the first quarter, despite increasing its treasury to over 7,300 BTC and expanding its mining fleet to nearly 90,000 machines. The company argued at the time that accounting treatments tied to Bitcoin’s price were masking an otherwise profitable quarter.

In July, the company executed a 1-for-15 reverse stock split to comply with Nasdaq’s minimum bid price requirement, following a period where its shares hit another record low amid a broader downturn in cryptocurrency-related stocks.

The latest report also coincides with the departure of American Bitcoin President and interim CFO Matt Prusak. Prusak announced Monday on X that he is leaving to join AI and energy infrastructure developer Giga Energy as chief business officer and interim CFO. In a separate blog post, Prusak noted that the industry’s primary constraint has shifted from Bitcoin mining itself to the power infrastructure required to support both mining and AI data centers. “Giga has more opportunity than any company can pursue at once,” he wrote. “Part of my role is to help identify the highest-leverage opportunities, shape where we focus, and build the machinery each priority requires.”

Despite these challenges, CEO Mike Ho expressed optimism regarding the company’s future. “American Bitcoin is, at its core, an operating business—we generate Bitcoin through scaled infrastructure rather than simply holding it on a balance sheet,” he stated. “Looking ahead, we are focused on deepening that infrastructure advantage, strengthening our balance sheet position, and compounding Bitcoin per share so that the work we do today translates into durable value for our shareholders across market cycles.”

  • Cardano Poised for $3 Surge on Historical Pattern: Analyst

Cardano Poised for $3 Surge on Historical Pattern: Analyst

Cardano’s Native Token Shows Strong Weekly Performance, Analysts Eye Potential Surge

Cardano’s native token, ADA, has emerged as one of the top-performing cryptocurrencies within the top 10 by market capitalization over the past week. This renewed momentum has captured the attention of market observers, with some now forecasting further price appreciation.

ADA experienced a notable and somewhat unexpected resurgence over the weekend, reaching a monthly high of approximately $0.19. At the time of reporting, the token is trading just below this mark, reflecting a 13% increase over the last seven days.

The most likely driver behind this upswing appears to be accumulation by large holders, often referred to as “whales.” According to analyst Ali Martinez, these significant investors have acquired over 240 million ADA tokens in a span of just five days.

Meanwhile, X user JAVON MARKS has drawn parallels between ADA’s recent performance and its trajectory in 2020-2021, a period that preceded a substantial bull run culminating in an all-time high. In this context, the analyst has set a price target of $2.90, a level currently representing a 1,300% increase from its present value.

Another X user, Leon Voss Official, has also weighed in, asserting that ADA has successfully broken through a long-term descending trendline that had previously acted as a persistent resistance. “The daily candle is closing on the stronger side and now clearly touching the support for further confirmation to hold above $0.17. This is connected to Cardano’s TVL surge by some +9% over the past week, reclaiming a level of nearly $68 million,” the user added.

For their part, Crypto Tony indicated a strategy of looking for a short position upon any potential rejection of the recent rally, or conversely, going long if the price manages to reclaim the $0.22 zone.

While ADA’s recent price action is evident, it is crucial to acknowledge the broader cryptocurrency market’s prevailing conditions. The market remains susceptible to bearish sentiment, which could lead to a swift reversal and erosion of recent gains.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) also serves as a cautionary indicator. Its ratio briefly surged above 80 before easing back to 65. This level still places it near overbought territory, signaling a potential for a short-term correction.
