Anthropic Faces Backlash Over Claude Fable 5 Release

Anthropic’s unveiling of its most powerful public model on Tuesday was met with a swift and significant backlash from the artificial intelligence community by Wednesday.

Claude Fable 5, the first publicly available iteration of the company’s restricted Mythos-class technology, has garnered praise for its coding prowess and impressive performance in general use. However, its launch has been marred by widespread criticism regarding its exorbitant token consumption, covert self-sabotage for specific research tasks, and a mandatory 30-day data retention policy for all users.

The negative reaction was immediate and vocal, resonating across researchers, developers, founders, and open-source advocates, signaling more than just typical launch-day complaints.

    Costly Token Consumption

Users’ initial concerns centered on Fable 5’s pricing structure. The model charges $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens, a doubling of the rates for Claude Opus 4.8.

This aggressive pricing is compounded by its impact on subscription plans. Fable 5 counts double against usage limits compared to Opus, meaning users deplete their plan allowances twice as quickly. Early tests revealed extreme token consumption, with one user reporting their daily quota was exhausted by a single prompt. Bleeping Computer’s testing indicated that a $100 Max subscription’s daily allowance was consumed in under nine minutes.

Scrimba CEO Per Borgen calculated that Fable 5 burned 1.3 million tokens in seven minutes, equating to an hourly cost of $160, or an annual salary equivalent of $333,000. Other users reported spending over $1,000 in tokens in a single day on a $200 subscription plan, with one CTO lamenting the inability to conduct meaningful testing due to rapid quota depletion.

Anthropic attributes the high token usage in “Workflow mode” to its design of breaking down complex prompts into parallel subagent tasks, which inherently requires more compute. Additionally, a new system prompt, approximately 120,000 tokens long, is loaded into every new conversation. The company maintains that Fable 5’s per-task efficiency is superior, producing more comprehensive results with fewer iterations, a claim that has been met with skepticism by users experiencing rapid budget depletion on live subscriptions.

    Covert Self-Sabotage for Research

A more damaging criticism emerged from Anthropic’s own documentation, which revealed that Fable 5 silently nerfs itself when it detects users are engaged in frontier large-language-model development. Instead of refusing to respond or falling back to a less capable model, it modifies prompts, steering vectors, or employs parameter-efficient fine-tuning without user notification.

This covert degradation means researchers cannot be certain if they are receiving full Fable 5 responses or diminished Opus-level output. Anthropic stated in Fable’s System Card that these safeguards would not be visible to the user, unlike interventions for cybersecurity or distillation attempts.

This distinction is critical for researchers. While an open refusal or a detectable fallback to a weaker model allows for understanding boundaries, a model that appears to assist while secretly delivering inferior results undermines scientific reproducibility. A failed outcome could be misattributed to the researcher’s methodology rather than an undisclosed model intervention.

Anthropic estimated this would affect a mere 0.03% of traffic, a figure dismissed by the open-source and research communities as irrelevant to the principle at stake. Arthur Zucker, a core contributor at Hugging Face, expressed a loss of trust, stating, “My tokens will no longer fly your way.”

Mikel Artetxe, cofounder of Reka AI, drew parallels to hypothetical scenarios where companies would sabotage competing technologies. He argued that the researchers most affected were academics, startups, and independent developers—the very individuals Anthropic’s safety rhetoric claims to protect. AlphaXiv, an open research platform, condemned the practice as a dangerous precedent, emphasizing that safety policies must be transparent and auditable.

Nathan Lambert, formerly of the Allen Institute, characterized Anthropic’s actions as “anti science, and therefore anti progress and anti safety.” Pseudonymous user “CalleBTC,” a developer awaiting Fable to train a world model, accused Anthropic of stifling competition and acting unethically.

Concerns were also raised that Fable’s restrictions might extend beyond specific topics, potentially influenced by how the model classifies users. One user reported being unable to interact with Fable 5 without disabling memory features, as the model identified them as a biomedical researcher.

    Mandatory Data Retention Policy

The third major grievance directly impacts enterprise users but carries broader implications. Anthropic’s announcement mandates 30-day data retention for all traffic on Mythos-class models, including Fable 5, across all platforms, including third-party services like AWS Bedrock and Google Vertex AI. While Anthropic assures data deletion after 30 days in “almost all cases,” the policy poses significant challenges for companies handling sensitive information such as legal communications, healthcare records, or confidential source code. Users argue that existing privacy agreements need to be updated to guarantee data protection.

The data retention policy also creates compliance issues for European companies operating under GDPR’s data minimization rules. Lisan al Gaib, a prominent figure in the AI community, highlighted that companies requiring zero data retention are effectively excluded from using Fable 5.

Hugging Face CEO Clement Delangue framed these events within a larger concern about the concentration of power and wealth in AI, advocating for open science and open-source development. Another user criticized Anthropic’s CEO for allegedly being against the technology he creates, restricting knowledge and education in machine learning.

Fable 5 is currently available for free on Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans until June 22. Following this period, it will transition to usage credits only, with Anthropic stating broader access will be restored as capacity expands.

  • Claude Fable 5 Predicts XRP Price Surge by End of 2026

Claude Fable 5 Predicts XRP Price Surge by End of 2026

Claude AI’s Fable 5 Predicts XRP Surge to $4.50 by 2026

Claude AI’s latest model, Fable 5, has released its XRP price prediction, forecasting a return to $4.50 by the end of 2026. The AI, touted as the most advanced model yet, was initially withheld due to safety concerns before its public debut. Its inaugural cryptocurrency forecast targets XRP, currently trading at $1.10, suggesting a potential fourfold increase from current levels.

    The Bullish Case for XRP

The core of Fable 5’s prediction hinges on XRP’s current market position. At $1.10, XRP has entered what the AI identifies as the deepest demand zone on its chart, a level where buyers have historically shown strong interest during dips since late 2024.

The analysis suggests that capitulation at major support levels often precedes significant year-end rallies, rather than marking an end to price appreciation. This period is characterized by maximum fear, yet the fundamental narrative supporting XRP has remained robust despite recent price declines.

The bullish outlook is underpinned by several existing developments. Spot XRP Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) are now trading on U.S. exchanges, Ripple’s On-Demand Liquidity (ODL) corridors continue to expand across Asia and the Middle East, and the regulatory clarity XRP has pursued for years is now fully integrated into its valuation as a foundational element rather than a limiting factor.

As Bitcoin approaches $100,000 and altcoin rotation gains momentum, XRP is positioned to benefit from institutional adoption, potentially outperforming previous cycles. The AI’s projection of XRP reclaiming its all-time high of $3.84 and reaching $4.50 by December represents a fourfold increase from its current price, a trajectory that mirrors its performance from similar capitulation lows in 2024.

    The Bearish Scenario for XRP

However, the bearish case for XRP carries significant weight. Persistent ETF outflows, ongoing escrow releases that increase supply, and a refusal by Bitcoin dominance to decline could push XRP below the psychologically important $1.00 mark. This would transform a key support level into a potential trapdoor.

In such a scenario, $0.75 could emerge as a realistic floor, the same zone from which XRP launched its breakout in 2024. The entire trade, therefore, hinges on XRP maintaining the $1.00 level. Holding this support keeps the fourfold upside potential alive; losing it could lead to a rapid decline.

    Technical Analysis of XRP

XRP’s daily chart shows the price at $1.10, following a substantial decline from its July high of $3.65. The prevailing structure is a persistent downtrend, marked by a consistent pattern of lower highs and lower lows, with the most recent local low established at $1.10.

This pattern resembles a descending staircase that has now entered a major demand zone, which has historically supported price during dips since late 2024. Key support levels are identified at $1.10, with subsequent floors near $1.00 and deeper demand around $0.75. Resistance is observed at $1.40, followed by $1.80, and a more significant zone at $2.40.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is currently at 28.51, with its signal line at 31.40, indicating deeply oversold momentum just below its average. This gap suggests sellers still hold some influence, but such oversold conditions are often precursors to sharp price reversals. A move by the RSI back above the 31.40 signal line would provide the first indication that the selling pressure is easing. The current chart configuration aligns with the AI’s thesis of XRP being positioned within a capitulation zone.

The path back towards previous highs and the $4.50 target would begin with reclaiming $1.40, followed by $1.80, but this progression is contingent on Bitcoin initiating a broader market rally.

    Market Dynamics and Emerging Technologies

The current market environment sees Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP testing the same resistance levels repeatedly, with macro catalysts and institutional adoption often appearing just beyond the immediate horizon. The upside potential is visible but capped, dependent on external decisions.

In contrast, early-stage infrastructure projects operate differently. Capital that might be insignificant for larger cryptocurrencies can have a substantial impact on smaller ventures. The discrepancy between a project’s intrinsic value and its market valuation presents opportunities for significant returns, particularly while the project remains relatively unknown.

The fragmentation of cross-chain communication has been a persistent issue in Decentralized Finance (DeFi) since the inception of blockchain bridges. Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana were developed as independent systems, and transactions between them incur costs through fees, slippage, and execution failures. Bridges have largely served as intermediaries rather than comprehensive solutions.

LiquidChain aims to address this by integrating these three networks within a single execution layer, allowing for deployment across all networks from one point and eliminating cross-chain transaction taxes. Claude AI has flagged LiquidChain as a project to watch, with its presale having raised over $820,000 at $0.01454 per token.

However, LiquidChain’s execution remains unproven, and its adoption is uncertain. Established assets offer a more predictable path to existing price ceilings. LiquidChain represents an earlier entry into a problem that has yet to be definitively solved.

Shotgun.fun Debuts as First Trading Terminal Offering 100% Cashback

Shotgun.fun Launches as the First Trading Terminal With 100% Cashback

New York, United States – June 10th, 2026 – Shotgun.fun, a new trading terminal, has officially launched today with a novel business model designed to return all fees to traders, challenging an industry practice that has historically siphoned billions from market participants.

For years, every trade executed has generated revenue for intermediaries, not for the market itself or the underlying protocols, but for the trading terminals positioned between users and execution. The fees associated with every buy, sell, and limit order have become the established norm. Shotgun.fun aims to fundamentally alter this paradigm.

The high-performance trading terminal promises to return up to 100% of trading fees to its users. Its cashback program begins at 50%, a rate already exceeding that of other trading terminals, and increases with trading volume. The tiered structure is designed for rapid progression, with 100% cashback presented not as an aspirational target but as an achievable goal.

Shotgun.fun operates on a fully non-custodial basis, utilizing Turnkey for enhanced security, which ensures that user keys are encrypted and accessible solely by the individual trader.

The platform arrives equipped with several key features:

The terminal addresses concerns about insider trading, a practice that has seen insiders profit from hundreds of millions across recent token launches. Shotgun.fun intends to level the playing field by providing transparency into insider wallets, enabling users to monitor their trades and replicate their strategies in real-time.

Additionally, Shotgun.fun incorporates a referral program offering up to a 50% revenue share across five referral tiers. This structure allows users to earn rewards when their referred users engage in trading activities.

The company is spearheaded by Miguel Loures and Pedro Maurício, the founding team previously behind Pulsar Finance. Pulsar Finance, a portfolio manager supported by Delphi Ventures, amassed over one million users before its acquisition by Terraform Labs. The team has been actively developing within the cryptocurrency space since 2020.

“Until now, traders have been treated as the product, not as users,” stated Miguel Loures, founder of Shotgun.fun. “We built Shotgun to give the power back to the people.”

Shotgun.fun is launching with support for the Solana blockchain, with plans to integrate additional blockchains and introduce agentic trading capabilities in the near future.

    About Shotgun.fun
Shotgun.fun is a non-custodial trading terminal developed with the needs of traders at its core. It offers up to 100% cashback, enterprise-grade execution, and a comprehensive suite of tools engineered for speed, instinct, and market advantage.

  • XRP Poised for Surge? Ripple Unveils XRPL AI Starter Kit

XRP Poised for Surge? Ripple Unveils XRPL AI Starter Kit

Ripple Unveils AI Toolkit for XRP Ledger, Sparking Speculation

Ripple has launched a new developer toolkit designed to facilitate autonomous, machine-to-machine payments on the XRP Ledger, a move that could serve as a significant catalyst for XRP holders. The XRPL AI Starter Kit aims to empower developers to build agentic payment applications capable of settling invoices, paying for computational resources, and executing transactions without requiring human intervention.

    Phased Rollout and Stablecoin Integration

The Starter Kit is being released in phases, with the initial phase focusing on developers creating agentic payment systems. A key feature of the toolkit is its full integration with RLUSD, Ripple’s USD-backed stablecoin. This integration is intended to support price-stable workflows, such as payroll processing and agent-to-agent commerce, directly on the XRP Ledger Decentralized Exchange (DEX). The toolkit also incorporates native institutional safeguards, including escrow, multi-signature capabilities, deposit authorization, and trust lines, eliminating the need for custom smart contracts.

    Dense News Cycle for XRP

The introduction of the XRPL AI Starter Kit arrives amidst a particularly active news cycle for XRP, fueled by the expansion of developer tooling, the growing AI payment infrastructure narrative, and ongoing speculation surrounding potential Bitcoin Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs).

XRP Price Dynamics and Potential Scenarios

XRP is currently trading in the $1.10-$1.15 range, remaining significantly below its previous peaks despite recent positive market sentiment. The daily trading range indicates dispersed liquidity and continued elevated volatility.

Technically, XRP appears to be in a consolidation phase, trading between a notable support level and resistance near the $1-$1.3 zone. Analysis of XRP’s price structure suggests that institutional demand, rather than retail flows, is currently the primary driver of its price movements.

Three potential scenarios are being considered. The first posits that measurable developer adoption of the XRPL AI Starter Kit could propel XRP’s price to reclaim levels above $2.50. The second scenario anticipates continued constructive sentiment, with XRP oscillating between $1.00 and $1.30 as traders await a more substantial catalyst. The third, bearish scenario suggests that disappointing developer uptake could lead XRP to retest support below $1.00. Within the community, speculative estimates of XRP reaching $5 by late 2025 are circulating.

Broader Market Trends and Emerging Infrastructure Plays

The announcement of XRP’s AI Starter Kit highlights a broader market trend: significant capital is flowing into cross-chain infrastructure and developer tooling. However, given XRP’s current market capitalization, the potential for asymmetric upside that early-stage investors seek may already be largely factored into near-term price expectations. This dynamic is drawing attention to earlier-stage infrastructure projects.

One such project is LiquidChain ($LIQUID), a Layer 3 infrastructure initiative aiming to establish itself as a cross-chain liquidity layer. LiquidChain seeks to consolidate liquidity from Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana into a unified execution environment, allowing developers to deploy applications once and access all three ecosystems simultaneously.

The LiquidChain presale has raised $830,000 to date, with the $LIQUID token currently priced at $0.01468. Its core architecture features include a Unified Liquidity Layer, Single-Step Execution, Verifiable Settlement, and a Deploy-Once model, all designed to address the fragmentation challenges inherent in multi-chain development.

The growing traction of the AI infrastructure narrative around XRP is also relevant to L3 settlement layers like LiquidChain, as autonomous agents require unified liquidity rails rather than siloed blockchain environments.

  • Top 7 Crypto Swap Platform Factors

Top 7 Crypto Swap Platform Factors

Instant cryptocurrency swaps have emerged as a dominant method for exchanging digital assets, enabling users to convert one cryptocurrency into another within minutes, often directly from self-custody wallets without the need to deposit funds onto an exchange.

As this practice gained traction, the number of platforms offering crypto swaps has surged. Centralized exchanges have integrated one-click “convert” tools into their applications, decentralized exchanges have facilitated on-chain swaps, and non-custodial aggregators have built their entire business models around this trading mechanism.

In 2026, the leading crypto swap platforms are distinguished by several key performance metrics. Prospective users should carefully consider these factors before committing any digital assets.

    Asset Coverage

The range of cryptocurrencies supported by a platform is crucial, determining whether a planned swap is even feasible. Platforms generally fall into two categories: those with expansive offerings and those with curated selections.

Non-custodial crypto exchanges like ChangeNOW list over 1,500 assets across more than 110 blockchains, with new tokens added weekly.

Custodial exchanges, conversely, vet their listings, which limits the number of assets but filters out potentially riskier tokens. Coinbase lists over 250 assets, Kraken Wallet supports over 500 pairs across eight blockchains, and Binance offers approximately 350 to 500 assets that can be exchanged via Binance Convert, its instant conversion tool that bypasses traditional order books.

This distinction presents a trade-off between accessibility and selectivity, with some platforms prioritizing newer and niche tokens, while others focus on more thoroughly vetted assets.

    Execution Speed

From the moment a deposit is confirmed until the swapped cryptocurrency arrives in a user’s wallet, the initial quote remains fixed while the market continues to fluctuate. Each additional minute increases the risk of price drift against the user, making execution time a tangible financial consideration.

A recent report by Swapzone and Bitcoin.com, titled “Speed Benchmarks: Non-custodial Swaps Comparison 2026,” analyzed 150,000 swaps across eight non-custodial providers. The study revealed performance disparities of up to 10–45 times between the fastest and median platforms.

ChangeNOW consistently ranked among the speed leaders, frequently completing major swap pairs in approximately one minute, demonstrating 98% better performance than the estimated rate. EasyBit often processed swaps within 1–5 minutes, while ChangeHero led several routes with execution times around 11–13 minutes.

The study concluded that faster execution directly enhances value preservation by minimizing users’ exposure to market volatility during the swap process. Regardless of the platform chosen, users should look for live transaction tracking to provide clarity while funds are in transit.

    Fees

Fees are among the most straightforward metrics to compare, yet also the easiest to misinterpret.

EasyBit charges an exchange fee ranging from 0.1% to 0.2%, dependent on user volume, with blockchain network fees applied separately. In SimpleSwap’s case, fees vary by partner but are clearly displayed before confirmation.

ChangeHero charges up to 0.5% on floating-rate swaps and up to 0.7% on fixed-rate exchanges, depending on the specific pair and liquidity conditions. FixedFloat charges 0.5% on floating-rate exchanges and 1% on fixed-rate swaps, with network fees applied separately.

ChangeNOW incorporates all costs directly into the quoted exchange rate presented before a swap is confirmed and offers both fixed- and floating-rate options. Users opting for a fixed rate lock in the quoted price, irrespective of market movements during processing, while floating rates adjust to market conditions until execution.

Given the wide variation in pricing models, experienced users tend to focus less on advertised fees and more on the actual amount of cryptocurrency received in their wallet after all fees, spreads, and slippage are accounted for.

    Fiat Support

For users who frequently move funds both on and off-chain, fiat currency support can be as critical as the swap functionality itself. A platform might offer thousands of tokens, but if purchasing or cashing out involves additional steps, limited payment options, or unavailable local currencies, the user experience can become significantly more complex.

Currency coverage varies across providers. ChangeNOW supports over 70 fiat currencies through partners such as Transak, Simplex, and Guardarian, with payment methods including Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, SEPA transfers, Pix, ACH, and Revolut.

Coinbase supports more than 60 fiat currencies through its integrated banking and on-ramp infrastructure. SimpleSwap offers over 66 fiat currencies, while Binance provides access to over 100 currencies, depending on the user’s jurisdiction.

    Security

Security is a paramount consideration when evaluating crypto swap platforms, particularly as custody practices dictate how assets are stored and managed during transactions.

Non-custodial services like ChangeNOW, SimpleSwap, and StealthX facilitate wallet-to-wallet trades, meaning funds never reside on the platform between initiation and delivery. ChangeNOW Pro further enhances security features. On fully on-chain DEXs such as Uniswap, users sign each transaction directly from a connected wallet, maintaining control throughout the process. The trade-off here is that operational errors, such as incorrect network selection, faulty token approvals, or bridge issues, become more challenging to rectify without a dedicated support team.

Custodial exchanges like Binance store the majority of client assets in cold storage, maintain their Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU)—valued at approximately $1 billion—and publish monthly Proof of Reserves reports to allow users to verify asset backing. Kraken publishes regular Proof of Reserves audits, while Coinbase stores over 98% of customer cryptocurrency in cold storage and carries crime insurance on its hot wallet holdings.

Custodial platforms offer support and recovery options for delayed or flagged transactions, but they also necessitate users entrusting the platform with access to assets held within its system. Neither model is universally superior; the optimal choice depends on whether users prioritize convenience, direct asset control, advanced trading functionality, or simplicity.

    User Reviews

A five-star rating based on a small number of reviews is less informative than a four-star rating supported by thousands of users.

ChangeNOW holds a 4.6/5 rating across more than 13,400 reviews, with 87% of users awarding five stars, according to data from the digital review platform Trustpilot. Coinbase has a 4/5 rating from over 22,000 reviews, with users frequently commending its ease of use and accessibility. Kraken’s 3.4/5 rating from more than 7,000 reviews reflects a mix of positive feedback on security and transparency alongside complaints regarding account access, withdrawals, and customer support.

ChangeNOW users often cite transaction speed and customer support as reasons for positive feedback. One user described the platform as “simple to use” and “easier than expected,” while another verified reviewer noted switching to ChangeNOW after their usual exchange stopped supporting XMR, finding the process “surprisingly simple.” A long-time customer from Mexico reported never losing funds after dozens of swaps and found support responsive during occasional delays.

    Loyalty Programs and Incentives

Many cryptocurrency companies now offer premium memberships, loyalty programs, or volume-based incentives designed to reward active customers. Lower fees, cashback rewards, account protection, and additional financial tools often have a greater long-term impact than minor differences in quoted exchange rates.

Coinbase One offers subscription tiers that include zero-fee trading allowances, boosted USDC rewards, account protection, priority support, and additional partner benefits. Through the Binance VIP program, higher trading volumes and BNB holdings unlock progressively lower fees, dedicated support, and institutional-grade services.

ChangeNOW Pro offers a free VIP tier that includes 0.1% cashback on crypto swaps, limited AML checks, and access to crypto loans. Paid tiers, Emerald ($15/month) and Brilliant ($100/month), increase cashback limits, expand AML-check allowances, and add features such as transaction exports and personalized crypto-payment pages, with the top tier providing 0.2% cashback and unlimited AML checks. The platform has also introduced features like Private Transfers, which reduce direct wallet-link visibility on public blockchains, and Limit Orders, allowing users to set target exchange rates and execute swaps automatically when market conditions are met.

No single crypto swap platform is ideal for everyone. Binance may appeal to users prioritizing liquidity, ChangeNOW to those seeking a broad range of assets and non-custodial swaps, while Kraken is often favored for its transparency. Crypto users should compare the metrics that matter most to them, as the best platform will ultimately be the one whose strengths align most closely with their individual cryptocurrency usage.

  • CFTC Rule Targets Prediction Market Bets on US Enemy Ouster

CFTC Rule Targets Prediction Market Bets on US Enemy Ouster

CFTC Proposes Strict New Rules for Prediction Markets, Targeting Controversial Wagering

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) on Wednesday unveiled a comprehensive set of proposed rules designed to regulate the burgeoning prediction market sector. The new framework includes provisions that would effectively ban numerous types of controversial markets that have become prevalent on popular platforms such as Polymarket and Kalshi.

Ban on Politically Charged and War-Related Markets

Under the proposed regulations, wagers on the timing of a political leader’s removal from office would be prohibited if the potential path to such an outcome involves war or assassination. This move comes after platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket have previously attempted to circumvent existing prohibitions on war-related markets by offering ambiguously worded bets. These bets often focused on when perceived enemies of the U.S. government, including Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, would be “out of office.”

Markets of this nature, which have generated significant controversy and hundreds of millions of dollars in trading volume, would be barred by the CFTC’s new rules. An exception would be made only if these markets explicitly stipulated that they would resolve to “yes” solely in cases of non-violent outcomes, such as electoral defeat, resignation, constitutional removal, negotiated departure, or natural death.

Focus on Ongoing Conflicts and Leadership Changes

Prediction markets that speculate on the outcomes of ongoing U.S. conflicts abroad are currently active on both Polymarket and Kalshi. One notable Polymarket wager, which has seen over $14 million in trades, seeks to determine Iran’s leader by the end of 2026. The current Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, is favored with 69% odds. His father, wife, and sister were reportedly killed in joint Israeli-American strikes on Tehran earlier this year.

On Kalshi, a live market with $1.6 million in trading volume is tracking the odds of Reza Pahlavi, the former crown prince of Iran, taking control of the country by year’s end. Pahlavi, an exiled opponent of the Iranian regime, would likely only be in a position to assume power if the current government collapsed or was overthrown.

Representatives for Polymarket and Kalshi did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

    Restrictions on Sports-Related Markets

The CFTC’s proposed rules, detailed in a 267-page document, would also impose limitations on certain sports-related markets deemed susceptible to manipulation and contrary to the public interest. These include bets on individual player injuries, referee calls, specific player actions such as particular plays or fouls, and physical altercations between athletes.

However, the CFTC generally views prediction markets on aggregate sports outcomes as permissible and consistent with existing regulations for event contracts. The proposed rulemaking states, “The Commission preliminarily believes that the record supports the conclusion that event contracts involving aggregate outcomes can be operated consistent with the public interest.”

This stance has faced considerable opposition from both Republican and Democratic states, which have argued in federal lawsuits that sports-related prediction markets are essentially unregulated gambling and should be subject to state-level oversight. The U.S. Supreme Court is expected to ultimately rule on this matter.

The CFTC’s proposed prediction market rules are now entering a 45-day public comment period, during which interested parties can submit their feedback directly to the agency.

  • SBI Shinsei Pilots XRP for Traditional Banking

SBI Shinsei Pilots XRP for Traditional Banking

SBI Shinsei Bank Pilots Crypto Integration, Offering XRP Rewards

SBI Shinsei Bank is set to launch a pilot program that will integrate blockchain-based solutions into its payment infrastructure, marking a significant evolution in the relationship between traditional banking and digital assets. The initiative aims to embed cryptocurrency incentives within conventional banking products, offering customers a novel way to engage with digital currencies.

A New Pathway for Banking Customers to Access XRP

The Japanese bank is preparing to introduce a new avenue for customers to interact with digital assets by allowing them to convert a portion of their deposit interest into cryptocurrency rewards, including XRP. According to a post by RippleXity, the pilot, scheduled to commence on June 10, represents a notable stride toward integrating crypto exposure directly into traditional banking products.

This development will enable customers to access digital assets through their existing savings activities, bypassing the need for separate trading platforms. Under the proposed framework, customers will continue to earn interest on their yen deposits as usual, but will have the option to convert approximately 20% of that interest into crypto vouchers. These vouchers can then be redeemed for assets such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, or XRP at real-time market rates at the moment of conversion.

The pilot is slated to launch on June 10, with a full rollout anticipated by autumn 2026. This initiative is built upon SBI’s existing Hyper Deposit product and aligns with its broader digital asset strategy, which includes the anticipated launch of RLUSD in Japan. RippleXity highlights the significance of this development, noting that SBI is one of Japan’s most influential financial conglomerates and a long-standing partner of Ripple since 2012.

Rather than requiring customers to use a separate cryptocurrency application, this model seamlessly integrates XRP into Japanese banking. Millions of users could gain passive exposure to XRP simply by holding funds in their bank accounts. In essence, SBI is not merely offering crypto as an add-on service; it is incorporating XRP into the fundamental mechanics of saving money.

Regulatory Clarity May Create New Opportunities for XRP Ledger

The potential implementation of the GENIUS Act could prove to be a pivotal moment for XRP, significantly amplifying its real-world utility. An analyst known as SMQKE on X has indicated that the legislation introduces clear reserve requirements, structured licensing frameworks, and interoperability standards designed to integrate stablecoins. This move is expected to introduce Ripple’s RLUSD into the core of mainstream financial systems while simultaneously reducing systemic risk.

SMQKE noted that for XRP, this regulatory clarity could amplify its utility, given that RLUSD transactions on the XRP Ledger already account for over 95% of stablecoin activity on the Ledger. As RLUSD adoption expands under a regulated framework, each transaction on the XRPL continues to rely on XRP as a fee payment mechanism. These fees contribute to a deflationary dynamic by permanently burning a small amount of XRP with every transaction.

Mastercard Unveils Agent Pay for Machines, Enabling Autonomous AI Transactions

Mastercard announced Wednesday the debut of Agent Pay for Machines, a new payment platform designed to empower AI agents to conduct transactions autonomously using cards, bank accounts, and stablecoins.

The platform is engineered to allow AI systems to independently purchase services and initiate payments, including handling numerous small, background transactions, according to Mastercard. This offering represents an extension of the company’s existing Agent Pay program, specifically facilitating payments between AI agents, software platforms, and connected devices.

“Agent Pay for Machines will create the conditions for a superbloom of AI business models,” stated Jorn Lambert, Mastercard Chief Product Officer, in a press release. “Machine payments can make it possible for services to be bought and sold among agents at fundamentally different scales than payments today—very high volumes, very small values, very fast, and at extremely low latency.”

Over 30 companies have already joined this initiative, including prominent names such as Coinbase, OKX, Polygon, RippleX, Aave Labs, Alchemy, Anchorage Digital, BVNK, MoonPay, Stripe, Cloudflare, and the Solana Foundation.

This launch signifies Mastercard’s intensified focus on AI-driven commerce. The move aligns with a broader trend across the payments and cryptocurrency sectors, where companies like MoonPay, MetaMask, and Coinbase are actively exploring the potential of autonomous AI agents to execute services and complete transactions without direct human intervention.

The announcement follows a series of strategic moves by Mastercard into the cryptocurrency market throughout the year. In March, the company introduced its Crypto Partner Program, collaborating with over 85 firms, including Binance, Ripple, and PayPal, to develop products integrating digital assets with Mastercard’s payment network. Later that month, Mastercard agreed to acquire stablecoin infrastructure firm BVNK for up to $1.8 billion, a deal aimed at bolstering its capabilities in digital asset payments and settlement.

Mastercard has also significantly expanded its stablecoin operations in 2026. In March, the company joined Solana’s enterprise blockchain platform to support stablecoin settlement. Earlier this month, Mastercard broadened its program for settling transactions using regulated stablecoins, such as Circle’s USDC and Ripple’s RLUSD.

Myriad Taps Chainlink for 2026 World Cup Prediction Markets

Prediction market platform Myriad has selected Chainlink as its exclusive oracle infrastructure provider for the 2026 FIFA World Cup matches, aiming to automate the resolution and settlement of its prediction markets.

This strategic move builds upon Myriad’s existing integration with Chainlink’s Runtime Environment (CRE), which the platform currently utilizes for its cryptocurrency price markets. The CRE will now be responsible for managing market resolution and settlement for the global soccer tournament. The companies state this integration is designed to replace the more time-consuming, manual settlement processes prevalent on some other prediction platforms.

“The World Cup is the biggest stage in sport, and it’s exactly the kind of moment Myriad was built for,” said Ilan Hazan, Myriad’s co-founder and COO. “Traders want outcomes they can trust, the moment the whistle blows.”

Hazan further explained that the integration with Chainlink will facilitate near-instantaneous market settlement and user payouts, providing Myriad with the reliability needed to convert first-time users into long-term participants during the high-profile global sporting event.

“By adopting Chainlink, Myriad enables its prediction markets for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to deliver users accurate resolutions, high-speed settlement, and instant payouts,” stated William Reilly, Head of Strategic Initiatives at Chainlink Labs. He added that the tamper-proof auditability offered by Chainlink’s blockchain-powered oracles will assist Myriad in reducing resolution disputes as it caters to soccer fans worldwide.

Myriad is also hosting a $100,000 trading competition centered on World Cup markets. The top three traders will receive $20,000, $10,000, and $5,000 respectively, with an additional $10,000 in prizes to be distributed among other leaderboard participants. Top market makers will also benefit from a weekly pool of $5,000 in maker volume rewards throughout the competition, with the leaderboard resetting weekly.

Prediction markets allow users to trade shares tied to the outcomes of future events. The prices of these shares fluctuate between $0 and $1, reflecting the implied odds of each outcome. The sector has experienced rapid growth in the past two years, with platforms like Polymarket and Kalshi achieving multi-billion-dollar valuations.

The World Cup markets follow a period of significant activity for Myriad. In March, the platform successfully closed a “milestone” seed funding round with notable investors including MoonPay Ventures, Auros, EVG, Verda Ventures, and Fundstrat co-founder Tom Lee, alongside earlier backers such as ConsenSys and HashKey Capital. This fundraising effort came shortly after Myriad’s launch on BNB Chain, where it introduced automated markets focused on short timeframes, as part of its broader objective to “embed Myriad as a protocol.”

Myriad is owned by Decrypt’s parent company, Dastan.

Crypto Industry Groups Warn Proposed Stablecoin Rules Could Harm DeFi

Washington D.C. – Two prominent crypto industry groups have cautioned U.S. regulators that proposed anti-money laundering rules for stablecoin issuers could inadvertently push regulated dollar tokens away from permissionless decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystems. The concern stems from proposals that would hold issuers responsible for secondary market activity.

In a letter submitted Tuesday to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) and the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Paradigm and the Hyperliquid Policy Center challenged a proposed rule designed to implement the GENIUS Act’s anti-money laundering and sanctions requirements for permitted payment stablecoin issuers.

“U.S.-regulated stablecoins power billions of dollars in daily trading, lending, and settlement,” the Hyperliquid Policy Center stated in a social media post accompanying the filing. “Our comment offers recommendations to preserve their critical role in onchain markets.”

The industry groups warned that such an approach could create a “chilling effect,” discouraging issuers from deploying stablecoins on permissionless blockchains. This, they argued, could ultimately lead to “pulling U.S.-regulated stablecoins out of DeFi.”

Paradigm and the Hyperliquid Policy Center advocate for a clear separation between primary issuance, where issuers have direct customer relationships, and secondary market activity. The latter involves stablecoins moving through wallets, DeFi applications, and validators beyond an issuer’s direct oversight.

They contend that a wallet address merely holding or transferring a stablecoin should not be considered an issuer’s customer. Similarly, developers, protocol operators, and validators should be exempt from issuer-style obligations if they lack a direct relationship with the issuer.

Applying issuer-level rules to secondary market transactions, the groups argued, would offer minimal benefit to regulators while potentially generating a significant volume of “noisy, false-positive-laden, low-value SARs” (suspicious activity reports).

The core of the regulatory challenge lies in finding ways to police stablecoin usage without transforming nearly every market participant into a regulated intermediary.

“Regulators are trying to make sure stablecoins do not become ‘a blind spot for sanctions enforcement and illicit finance’ as they grow as global payment rails,” Matthew Pinnock, COO at Altura DeFi, told Decrypt. He added that if stablecoins become central to dollar-based digital finance, regulators “need confidence that issuers can identify customers, block sanctioned actors, and cooperate with law enforcement.”

However, Pinnock noted that achieving such confidence is difficult, as issuers often lose direct contact with users once stablecoins move into self-custodied wallets. He likened this to asking a bank to track “every cash transaction after money leaves an ATM.”

Conversely, Siwon Huh, an analyst at crypto research firm Four Pillars, expressed concern that a broad carve-out for the secondary market could create enforcement gaps. Huh pointed to the “track record” of sanctioned entities, such as North Korea, in using dollar stablecoins as a “store of value and a means of moving money.” He warned that if issuers “bear no responsibility once a coin has been issued, their incentive to invest in blocking technology weakens.”

Ambiguous rules could also pose significant risks for validators. The proposed regulations, if broadly interpreted, could encompass infrastructure operators on networks like Ethereum, Solana, and Hyperliquid, potentially prompting U.S.-based staking and infrastructure development to move offshore.

“Where this can go too far is if the rules blur the line” between firms that manage customer relationships and those that merely provide infrastructure, Marcos Viriato, CEO and co-founder of Parfin, told Decrypt. He emphasized that overly broad obligations could make consistent application challenging, and that effective regulations should enhance compliance without introducing “unnecessary operational complexity.”
