Ethereum Exchange Inflows Surge to 4-Month Peak: Price Implications

Ethereum Exchange Inflows Surge to 2.24 Million in a Single Day

The price of Ethereum has experienced a significant decline over the past week, mirroring Bitcoin’s downturn towards the $59,000 mark. As the second-largest cryptocurrency’s value dropped to $1,505, recent on-chain analysis has revealed a notable shift in activity across exchanges.

On-Chain Data Shows Highest Inflows in Four Months

In a June 6th post, the on-chain analytics group Arab Chain highlighted data from the “Ethereum: Exchange Inflow (Total) – All Exchanges” metric. This data indicated that inflows across all tracked cryptocurrency exchanges recently reached a staggering 2.24 million ETH in a single day. According to Arab Chain, this represents the highest level observed in the past four months.

The metric tracks the total amount of Ether transferred to cryptocurrency exchanges over a specified period, serving as an indicator of potential selling pressure. Elevated inflows suggest that a substantial amount of ETH may be poised for sale, which is typically interpreted as a bearish signal or an impending surge in trading activity, potentially leading to increased volatility. This is because higher inflows signify a greater available supply for distribution.

    Binance Dominates Inflow Volume

Notably, Arab Chain identified Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, as the primary recipient of these Ethereum inflows. On the day in question, Binance recorded over 1.16 million ETH in inflows, out of the total 2.24 million ETH sent to all exchanges.

The surge in exchange inflows reportedly followed a period of relative calm in deposit activity. Arab Chain emphasized that this sudden spike, after a period of quiet, carries greater significance than previous events. The analytics group suggests this could signal that Ethereum investors are preparing to realize profits or are in the process of restructuring their portfolios.

While acknowledging that high inflows are not an infallible predictor of bear markets, Arab Chain stressed their relevance given Ethereum’s current price weakness. The group concluded that sustained high inflows of Ethereum into exchanges, particularly Binance, could intensify selling pressure and potentially trigger a further downturn for the cryptocurrency in the near term.

At the time of reporting, Ethereum was trading at $1,577, down 5.35% over the preceding 24 hours, according to CoinMarketCap data.

  • XRP Analyst Spots Overlooked Pattern

    XRP Analyst Spots Overlooked Pattern

XRP Price Poised for Major Surge as Bullish Pattern Re-emerges, Analyst Claims

A cryptocurrency analyst known as Blacksea has identified a significant bullish price pattern on the XRP chart, suggesting a potentially massive rally that has largely escaped market attention. According to the analyst, the last time this specific setup appeared, XRP experienced a triple-digit percentage increase and subsequently reached a new all-time high. If historical precedent holds true, the digital asset could be on the cusp of a similar parabolic price surge this cycle, potentially signaling an end to its current downtrend and ushering in a renewed bullish phase.

XRP Mirrors Pattern That Fueled 2024 Rally

On June 6, Blacksea highlighted that XRP has once again formed a falling wedge pattern, identical to one observed in 2024. At that time, XRP was trading around $0.5 before the pattern fully materialized, ultimately preceding a remarkable 600% price jump. Reviewing the 2024 chart, XRP traded within the confines of the falling wedge, exhibiting consistent swings and compression between its upper and lower trendlines. Despite sharp price fluctuations, XRP briefly dipped below the wedge’s lower boundary. This false breakdown proved to be a pivotal moment, as momentum rapidly shifted, leading to an aggressive upward reversal and a surge past $1.5, culminating in the historic rally.

Blacksea suggests that XRP may be preparing for a comparable parabolic price surge. The cryptocurrency is currently trading within its wedge, characterized by repeated price declines and compression, though it has not yet breached the lower boundary. A breakdown, if it occurs, could mirror the 2024 scenario, acting as a final “shakeout” before a robust reversal. The analyst anticipates that such a move could ignite a fresh recovery for XRP, potentially setting the stage for a renewed bullish trend and a push towards new all-time highs. In anticipation of this projected rally, Blacksea is advising traders and investors to position themselves early and manage risk diligently to mitigate potential losses from sharp downside volatility should the pattern deviate from expectations.

Analyst Predicts XRP Price Dip Preceding Explosive Rally

In a separate analysis, crypto analyst Celal Kucuker shared a bullish outlook for XRP, but cautioned that a significant price correction might precede the anticipated rally. Kucuker pointed to a developing Cup and Handle pattern on the XRP chart, forecasting a potential explosive rally towards the 1.618 Fibonacci Extension level, which sits above $14.

Kucuker explained that before XRP can reach this ambitious target, its price is expected to extend its current downward trend, potentially experiencing a sharp decline towards $0.9. The accompanying chart indicates that further weakness in this region could invalidate XRP’s bullish structure and open the door to a deeper decline, possibly near $0.48.

However, Kucuker’s chart also suggests that if XRP holds the $0.95 support level and stages a strong rebound, the next upside target would likely be around $1.5. From there, the analyst projects a jump to $3.66, representing an approximately 282% surge from the $0.95 mark. Following this, XRP could then accelerate towards the analyst’s final target of around $14.1, a level that would signify a staggering 1,378% rally from the former $0.95 support area.

  • Ethereum Outpaces Bitcoin in Holder Growth Amidst Price Slump

Ethereum Outpaces Bitcoin in Holder Growth Amidst Price Slump

Ethereum now boasts the largest number of holders among all blockchains, significantly outpacing Bitcoin.

Data tracking non-empty wallets reveals that Ethereum has approximately 189.49 million holders, more than triple Bitcoin’s 59.08 million. These figures, released by Leon Waidmann, head of research at Lisk, highlight Ethereum’s substantial user base, even as its price has remained in a bearish trend.

Following Ethereum and Bitcoin, Tether ranks third with 13.61 million holders, trailed by XRP with 7.8 million and USDC with 6.76 million non-empty wallets.

Despite this strong network adoption, Ether (ETH) has experienced a consistent decline over the past month, shedding more than 30% of its value. At the time of this report, the cryptocurrency was trading near $1,620.

The price weakness has also impacted companies that had established significant treasury holdings in Ether. Nasdaq-listed FG Nexus, for instance, has reportedly incurred losses exceeding $85 million on its Ethereum strategy after selling a considerable portion of its holdings below its acquisition cost. The company had designated ETH as its primary treasury reserve asset and began accumulating its position around Ethereum’s 10th anniversary, with ambitions to become a major holder. However, the broader market downturn compelled it to reduce its exposure.

In related analysis, crypto commentator Michaël van de Poppe observed that Ethereum’s daily Relative Strength Index (RSI) has fallen to its lowest recorded level. He suggests that this extremely oversold condition may signal that the crypto market is nearing the conclusion of its current bear cycle, with a potential turnaround on the horizon.

Market pressures have also been evident in the activity of spot Ethereum Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs). After 17 consecutive trading days of outflows, these funds recorded net inflows of $19.3 million on June 4. These inflows were solely attributed to ETHA, with the remaining nine ETFs experiencing no activity.

Cumulatively, Ethereum ETFs still registered net outflows of $168 million for the week. Data from SoSoValue indicates that these latest figures might suggest a stabilization of ETF flows, though a significant recovery will hinge on sustained inflows across Ethereum and other major cryptocurrencies.

AI Models Emerge as Powerful Tools for Uncovering Software Vulnerabilities, Raising Security Alarms

The latest generation of advanced artificial intelligence models are moving beyond conversational tasks, image generation, and code writing. Researchers are increasingly leveraging systems like Anthropic’s Claude Mythos and Claude Opus 4.8, alongside OpenAI’s GPT-5.5, to identify software vulnerabilities. This development is sparking concerns about the implications of such capabilities becoming widely accessible.

Crypto investors received a stark reminder of the growing threat posed by powerful AI this week. Zcash developers revealed that Claude Opus 4.8 was instrumental in discovering a critical vulnerability. This flaw could have allowed an attacker to mint an unlimited supply of ZEC. However, due to the network’s design, it is impossible to definitively confirm if counterfeit ZEC was indeed minted, a situation that contributed to a significant price drop for ZEC late this week.

Experts caution that as AI software becomes more sophisticated and accessible, a surge in discovered vulnerabilities is likely in the coming weeks and months. This trend is already making its mark on the cryptocurrency landscape.

From Coding Assistants to Security Detectives

Initially, early AI models served as professional coding assistants, aiding developers in writing, explaining, and debugging software. As the technology matured, researchers began employing these same systems for code review, software auditing, and vulnerability research.

This evolution from a coding assistant to a security tool coincided with a broader shift in AI’s role within software development. Following the launch of Claude Code in 2025, Anthropic reported a substantial increase in AI-generated code across its engineering teams, signaling a move from models that merely suggested code to systems capable of writing and executing it.

Security professionals emphasize that the impact extends beyond assisting developers.

“AI is far better at reviewing code than most people and finding potential vulnerabilities in it,” Danny Jenkins, CEO and co-founder of ThreatLocker, told Decrypt. Jenkins noted that current AI systems are already accelerating vulnerability discovery, and newer models like Mythos could dramatically enhance these capabilities, describing it as an imminent “big problem.”

“It will be only a matter of time until someone bad gets access to it,” he added.

Jenkins further explained that AI is lowering the barrier to entry for vulnerability research, enabling more individuals to analyze code, pinpoint weaknesses, and develop exploits. As access to increasingly powerful systems expands, he anticipates an accelerated pace of vulnerability discovery.

“Pre-AI, cybersecurity threats and exploits were increasing every year,” Jenkins stated. “Post-AI, it’s become even faster, and I think it’s become faster for two reasons. One is that you can now use AI to help find vulnerabilities and exploits, and the number of people who have the ability to do this has massively grown. You don’t have to be a script kiddie now.”

Expanding Access and the Race for Defense

As AI systems grew more capable, companies began integrating them into cybersecurity efforts. On Tuesday, Anthropic expanded access to Project Glasswing, granting 150 companies and institutions the ability to use Claude Mythos to identify and remediate software vulnerabilities before the model’s wider release.

In April, Mozilla disclosed that Anthropic’s models had helped identify hundreds of vulnerabilities that were subsequently fixed in the Firefox web browser. Concurrently, researchers at Calif utilized Mythos Preview in their work, which led to one of the first public exploits targeting Apple’s M5 chips.

Stanislav Fort, a former researcher at Google DeepMind and Anthropic and now founder and chief scientist of security firm Aisle, acknowledged the validity of concerns surrounding AI-powered vulnerability discovery but suggested they are often misconstrued.

“The naive response is to try to gatekeep access to powerful models. I think this is essentially security by obscurity, and security by obscurity is one of the worst ideas in the field,” Fort told Decrypt. “The capability for zero-day discovery is already widely distributed across models that no one can restrict. Trying to bottle it up at the frontier doesn’t eliminate the risk; it just delays it while also slowing down the defenders who need these tools most.”

Fort highlighted a more significant risk: defenders, particularly open-source maintainers, may not have access to the same advanced AI tools available to attackers.

“That imbalance is the real danger,” he asserted. “The answer isn’t restriction; it’s democratization of the defensive stack.”

Anthropic is not alone in developing AI models for cybersecurity. In May, Microsoft introduced MDASH, an agentic vulnerability discovery system that the company claims helped identify previously unknown Windows vulnerabilities.

Crypto and DeFi Under AI’s Glare

The cryptocurrency and decentralized finance (DeFi) sectors are beginning to feel the impact of AI-driven bug hunting. Blockchain projects have long been attractive targets due to the substantial financial stakes and the public availability of much of their code. Jenkins predicts that as AI improves its ability to find software flaws, open-source crypto projects could become easier targets for both security researchers seeking bugs and attackers aiming to exploit them.

In a clear demonstration of how advanced AI models can uncover vulnerabilities that have eluded years of human scrutiny, independent security researcher Taylor Hornby disclosed the critical vulnerability in Zcash’s Orchard privacy pool, discovered with the assistance of Claude Opus 4.8.

The flaw had the potential to allow an attacker to create unlimited counterfeit ZEC and had gone undetected for years before being patched. It remains unknown whether the exploit was actually used.

“The vulnerability was present from Orchard’s activation in May 2022 until the emergency fix was deployed on June 1, 2026,” Shielded Labs, the organization behind Zcash development, stated in a disclosure. “Due to the privacy properties of Orchard and the nature of the bug, there is no definitive way to determine, using only cryptography, whether such exploitation occurred.”

This incident occurs as DeFi protocols are already experiencing one of their most challenging periods for exploits. Over $840 million was stolen from DeFi projects in the first five months of 2026, with April alone seeing over $600 million lost across attacks on projects including KelpDAO and Drift Protocol.

The rise of “vibe hacking,” where attackers use AI coding agents to automate reconnaissance, credential theft, malware development, and other tasks, has fueled concerns that AI is lowering the barriers to executing sophisticated cyberattacks.

Natalie Newson, senior blockchain investigator at Web3 security platform CertiK, noted that while April was exceptionally severe for crypto exploits, the broader trend remains more stable and below the peak number of incidents seen in previous years.

“April 2026 was a bad month for crypto exploits; there were only three days without an exploit in which at least $10,000 was taken,” she said. “However, when we take a look at the wider picture, the number of incidents (excluding phishing) has arguably been fairly consistent and still lower than a peak in 2023.”

While AI may be simplifying DeFi exploits, according to Blockaid CTO Raz Niv, the greater risk lies not in AI replacing hackers but in amplifying their capabilities. This allows attackers to focus on more advanced techniques while AI handles routine tasks.

“The good news is defenders can use the same tools,” Niv concluded. “AI-assisted monitoring and simulation is becoming essential for security teams trying to keep pace.”

  • Microsoft: Claude Vulnerability Exposes GitHub Credentials

Microsoft: Claude Vulnerability Exposes GitHub Credentials

Microsoft Discloses Vulnerability in Anthropic’s Claude Code AI Agent

Microsoft researchers have revealed a now-patched vulnerability in Anthropic’s Claude Code GitHub Action that could have allowed attackers to expose credentials stored within software development pipelines. The exploit involved manipulating the AI agent through malicious GitHub content.

In a blog post on Friday, Microsoft highlighted that AI coding agents operating within Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) workflows present new security risks. These environments frequently hold access to sensitive information such as API keys and cloud credentials.

“We initiated this research after observing prompt injection attempts in public repositories utilizing AI-assisted GitHub workflows across various vendors,” Microsoft stated. “In these instances, attacker-controlled issues or pull requests, along with their content, were processed by the AI agent, potentially influencing its tool usage.”

On GitHub, a pull request is a mechanism for developers to propose changes to a code repository, subject to review before being merged.

This disclosure comes as prompt injection attacks have emerged as a significant security threat to AI agents. Such attacks involve an attacker embedding hidden instructions within content like emails, documents, websites, or code comments, causing the AI system to execute these unauthorized commands instead of the intended user actions.

Claude Code, launched in October, is Anthropic’s AI coding agent designed for software development tasks. The tool previously drew attention in March when Anthropic inadvertently leaked over 500,000 lines of its source code, revealing details of its internal architecture and prompting extensive analysis by researchers and developers.

According to Microsoft, attackers could leverage prompt injection attacks embedded in GitHub issues, pull requests, or comments to manipulate Claude Code into accessing files containing sensitive credentials.

To demonstrate the vulnerability, Microsoft constructed a GitHub workflow. They disguised malicious instructions within content hosted on a domain they controlled, enabling them to bypass Claude’s safety measures. The prompt injection attack successfully tricked Claude into reading sensitive credentials and altering them in a way that evaded both Claude’s safeguards and GitHub’s secret-scanning tools. Microsoft explained that an attacker could then reconstruct these credentials and exfiltrate them through methods such as issue comments, workflow logs, web requests, or shell commands.

“To circumvent Sonnet’s refusal safety mechanisms, we obscured the shell payload behind a response from our controlled domain,” the firm noted. “We also configured the workflow to be triggered by users without ‘write’ permissions, ensuring that Anthropic’s environment variable scrubbing mitigations were active during our tests.”

Anthropic addressed the flaw on May 5 with the release of Claude Code version 2.1.128. Microsoft had initially disclosed the vulnerability through HackerOne on April 29.

Despite the implementation of multiple layers of built-in security controls, Microsoft’s findings indicate that a determined attacker could potentially manipulate an AI agent into exposing sensitive information.

“We are entering an era where natural language is executable code, and untrusted inputs like GitHub issues must be treated as hostile by default,” Microsoft concluded. “A single, carefully crafted comment, combined with a misunderstood trust boundary, is all it takes to walk away with production credentials.”

CLARITY Act Momentum Wanes as Approval Odds Drop

Senate Crypto Bill Faces Uncertain July 4 Deadline

A target date of July 4 for advancing cryptocurrency market-structure legislation through the Senate is now looking less certain, according to Galaxy Digital’s head of research.

    Senate Calendar Creates a Bottleneck

Alex Thorn has revised his probability estimate for the CLARITY Act passing in 2026 from 75% down to 60%, citing a Senate schedule that has become increasingly crowded with competing priorities.

Next week’s agenda is expected to be dominated by Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA)-related business following a failed reauthorization vote, leaving little room for crypto legislation to progress. Thorn stated that the obstacle is no longer political will, as support for the bill has not waned. The issue, he explained, is time.

“I just sent this note to clients lowering my odds of 2026 clarity act passage from 75% immediately post-markup to 60% today,” Thorn tweeted on June 5, 2026. “I said in May that the Senate calendar was one of the biggest hurdles, and that picture has worsened. Last night the FISA reauth vote failed, so now next…”

Unresolved Issues Add to the Delay

Two sticking points remain on the table: lawmaker ethics rules and illicit finance provisions tied to the bill. Neither has been resolved, and the lack of movement on both fronts has further complicated the path forward.

Despite the lowered odds, Thorn expressed optimism about the bill’s eventual passage, though he cautioned that the timeline is now more fluid than many had assumed.

The CLARITY Act is widely considered the most consequential crypto legislation currently before Congress. Its central aim is to resolve a long-standing dispute between the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) over regulatory jurisdiction in the digital asset space. Under the proposal, tokens classified as commodities would fall under CFTC oversight, while those deemed securities would remain under the SEC’s purview. This distinction would reshape how exchanges operate and the compliance requirements for crypto projects. Supporters argue that federal clarity on these boundaries would reduce regulatory uncertainty and prevent crypto development from migrating overseas.

A Window That May Be Closing

Senator Cynthia Lummis had previously indicated July 4 as a potential marker for advancing market-structure legislation in the Senate. Thorn’s revised figure puts pressure on that informal target. His assessment reflects scheduling constraints rather than a shift in lawmakers’ views on the bill itself. For crypto stakeholders awaiting regulatory certainty, the revised outlook suggests a potentially longer path toward comprehensive legislation.

Bitcoin Whale Awakens, Redeems 15-Year-Old Casascius for 25 BTC

OG Bitcoin Holder Redeems 15-Year-Old Physical Coin for 25 BTC

As bitcoin (BTC) continues to navigate the challenges of a bear market, long-term holders are increasingly activating dormant assets. In a notable event, an anonymous individual redeemed a physical bitcoin token 15 years after its creation, receiving 25 BTC in the process.

The redeemed physical coin is identified as an S1-COIN-25, part of the Casascius coin series produced between 2011 and 2013, according to a tweet from Galaxy Research. At current market prices, the redeemed bitcoin is valued at over $1.78 million.

Casascius coins were physical tokens created by early Bitcoin adopter and software engineer Mike Caldwell. These coins, available in denominations ranging from 0.5 to 1,000 BTC, contained actual digital bitcoins. Each coin featured a tamper-evident hologram on the reverse, concealing the private key, while the bitcoin receiving address was printed on the exterior.

Caldwell produced these tokens in various materials, including brass, fine silver, and gold plating, in both coin and bar formats. The coins measured between 25.4 mm and 30 mm in diameter. While solid gold bars would weigh approximately 12 ounces, the gold-plated alloy bars weighed 4.2 ounces. These pre-loaded bitcoin coins and bars were initially sold directly and are now found on secondary markets such as eBay. Caldwell ceased production in 2013, reportedly due to operating as an unlicensed money transmitter.

To access the bitcoin, holders must peel back the hologram to reveal the private keys. The balance of a coin could be verified on platforms like Block Explorer by entering an eight-character code displayed on the coin’s exterior.

Over the past 15 years, holders of Casascius coins have redeemed their tokens, realizing substantial profits. Some coins, initially worth less than $100, have seen their value skyrocket due to bitcoin’s historical price appreciation. Originally conceived as conversation starters to introduce people to bitcoin, these physical tokens evolved into a long-term storage method for the digital asset.

The specific Casascius coin redeemed this week was minted in December 2011, alongside thousands of others. Data from a Casascius tracker indicates that 27,916 coins and bars were created, with 10,479 of them having been opened. Considering the current price of bitcoin, the total value of all Casascius coins and bars ever produced now exceeds $6.2 billion.

This recent redemption coincides with a broader trend of long-term bitcoin holders reactivating their previously dormant digital assets.

XRP Poised for $10-$20 Surge, Analyst Predicts

XRP Price Prediction: Analyst Foresees $10-$20 Rally by 2032

Crypto analyst Crypto Patel has outlined a bullish outlook for XRP, predicting a significant price surge to between $10 and $20 by the token’s 20th anniversary in 2032. This forecast comes as the cryptocurrency marks its 14th anniversary, underscoring its status as one of the longest-standing digital assets.

    XRP’s Historical Context and Tokenomics

The XRP Ledger (XRPL) launched on June 2, 2021, positioning XRP as one of the most enduring cryptocurrencies, predating Ethereum and most other altcoins. Crypto Patel addressed common misconceptions surrounding XRP’s tokenomics, clarifying that the entire supply of 100 billion tokens was created at inception, with no mining process involved. He also emphasized that XRP never underwent an Initial Coin Offering (ICO). Instead, tokens were distributed through giveaways, partner agreements, and private sales, meaning XRP does not have an ICO price.

XRP commenced exchange trading in August 2013 at approximately $0.0058. In its inaugural year, the token fluctuated between $0.005 and $0.01. The cryptocurrency later experienced a dramatic ascent, reaching an all-time high (ATH) close to $3.84 in January 2018, a period marked by a remarkable 1,400% rally within weeks.

Impact of SEC Lawsuit and Future Outlook

Crypto Patel also highlighted the substantial impact of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) 2020 allegations, which classified XRP as a security. This led to a significant price crash, with XRP plummeting to $0.11 within two years, a 97% decline from its then-ATH. However, the token saw a resurgence, reaching a new ATH of $3.66 in July 2025, following the settlement of the nearly five-year lawsuit between the SEC and Ripple.

The analyst underscored XRP’s resilience as a notable achievement, considering its journey from fractions of a cent to nearly $4 and its navigation through a protracted legal battle with the SEC. He noted that this aspect is often overlooked, with XRP currently trading just above $1, representing an approximately 207-fold increase from its initial exchange listing price.

Furthermore, XRP now benefits from a degree of regulatory clarity, following Judge Analisa Torres’ ruling in the SEC lawsuit that the token is not a security.

As of this report, XRP is trading around $1.09, experiencing a decline of over 2% in the past 24 hours, according to CoinMarketCap data.

Cardano Co-Founder’s Departure Sparks Sharp Decline, AI Predicts Further Losses

In a turbulent period for the cryptocurrency market, marked by a sudden and significant downturn, Cardano co-founder Charles Hoskinson announced a brief hiatus on X, a move that has exacerbated the woes of the ADA token.

Hoskinson’s decision coincided with a steep drop in ADA’s value, which plummeted by double digits on Friday, falling below $0.19. The decline continued into the following hours, with the token slumping to under $0.16, its lowest point since December 2020. In light of these developments, a query was posed to the latest version of ChatGPT regarding the potential future trajectory of the token.

The data surrounding ADA paints a grim picture. On Friday alone, the token experienced a 24-hour decline of 14%. Weekly losses have reached 30%, and the monthly decrease stands at 40%. The broader yearly perspective is even more concerning, with a 75% reduction in value over the past year and a staggering 94.7% drop from its all-time high in September 2021.

Unsurprisingly, Hoskinson’s announcement triggered considerable controversy and a flurry of reactions across social media platforms. While some users expressed support for his decision, others voiced skepticism, and a segment of the community reacted with strong criticism.

ChatGPT clarified that Hoskinson has not resigned from Cardano, but emphasized the critical timing of his announcement. His statement came on the heels of the shutdown of several key ecosystem participants, the cancellation of Cardano’s flagship summit, and public warnings that more projects and decentralized finance (DeFi) applications could cease operations before the year’s end.

“The market is interpreting the move as a vote of no confidence,” the AI stated. “Whether this interpretation is fair or not is almost secondary. Crypto markets are driven by narratives, and the prevailing one is that Cardano’s ecosystem is contracting while competitors continue to attract developers, liquidity, and users.”

Acknowledging that ADA has already erased years of gains with its fall below $0.17, ChatGPT cautioned that further declines are possible if market sentiment continues to sour.

Its bearish outlook suggests another downward movement, potentially towards $0.12. Should this level be breached, Cardano’s native asset could descend further, possibly below $0.10. An extreme capitulation scenario envisions a drop to $0.08, while the AI’s “nuclear scenario” identified $0.05 as the lowest potential target.

“For ADA to trade below five cents, Cardano would likely need to enter a prolonged death spiral involving developer departures, collapsing liquidity, and a broader crypto bear market,” the AI concluded.

  • Banks Launch Tokenized Payment Network to Challenge Stablecoins

Banks Launch Tokenized Payment Network to Challenge Stablecoins

Banks Forge Shared Tokenized Deposit Network to Counter Stablecoins

JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo are collaborating on a shared Tokenized Deposit Network (TDN), a move aimed at challenging the dominance of stablecoins in the financial landscape. The initiative, spearheaded by The Clearing House, targets a launch in the first half of 2027, with the Federal Reserve identified as a key audience.

The stated objective of the TDN is to enhance efficiency through instant, 24/7 settlement, programmable payments, and blockchain-speed money movement. However, the underlying strategic aim appears to be maintaining control. By owning the tokenized settlement layer, these banks aim to preempt the development of a government-issued retail Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) and limit the space for stablecoin issuers within the institutional payment ecosystem.

A tokenized deposit is not a novel asset class; rather, it represents a standard bank deposit recorded on a shared ledger instead of a bank’s proprietary system. The credit risk, regulatory treatment, and accounting standards remain unchanged. The fundamental alteration lies in the settlement infrastructure.

Current systems like Fedwire and RTP operate on batch cycles or near-real-time windows with defined cutoffs. The TDN, in contrast, will facilitate continuous on-chain settlement, encompassing weekends and federal holidays. This operational gap has been precisely where stablecoins have carved out their corporate use cases. For instance, treasury teams managing cross-border settlements with USDC value the ability to transact at any hour, a capability not consistently offered by traditional banking rails.

The TDN aims to bridge this gap by enabling 24/7 settlement without moving funds outside the regulated banking system. Elements of this infrastructure are already in place. JPMorgan’s Kinexus platform, for example, processes institutional payments using JPM Coin on a private blockchain. Earlier in 2026, the bank also introduced a tokenized deposit token on Base, Coinbase’s public Layer 2 solution, for institutional clients, focusing on cross-border payments, intraday liquidity, and programmable payouts. Citigroup’s Token Services facilitates real-time digital transfers between major financial hubs like New York, London, and Hong Kong.

The TDN is envisioned as the interoperability layer that will consolidate these disparate bank-led efforts into a unified institutional liquidity pool, effectively creating a regulated settlement network at the scale of the U.S. banking system.

David Watson, CEO of The Clearing House, described the project as a “big move for the lenders” and highlighted that the industry is heading towards a “radically different” future for on-chain payments. This framing is both accurate and strategically advantageous, as the banks proposing the network stand to be most impacted by a government-run CBDC or a stablecoin that captures significant institutional dollar flows.

    Strategic Implications and Competitive Landscape

Congressional support for a Federal Reserve-issued retail CBDC is currently minimal, largely due to concerns over surveillance, political considerations, and bipartisan opposition. Banks are aware of this political climate, and the TDN is designed to capitalize on it. By offering 24/7 tokenized dollar settlement through regulated bank deposits, the private sector could undermine the policy rationale for a government-issued digital dollar.

This development offers the Federal Reserve a modernized payment infrastructure without the political complexities of issuing a retail CBDC. For banks, it ensures deposits remain within their system, while stablecoin issuers face increased pressure. The regulated banking system as a whole stands to benefit, with the exception of major stablecoin issuers like Tether and Circle.

The ongoing legislative efforts surrounding the CLARITY Act in Washington add another layer of pressure. Banks are reportedly opposed to provisions that could permit interest-bearing features on stablecoins, which would directly compete with bank deposit rates. A functional TDN would strengthen the banks’ position in this debate, as they would already offer programmable, blockchain-native deposits with FDIC-equivalent protections, diminishing the political argument for allowing non-bank stablecoin issuers to offer yield.

Shahmir Khaliq, Citi’s head of services, characterized the network as a step that “effectively cements” the role of banks in financing, money management, and capital markets. This statement can be interpreted as a strategic assertion of market dominance rather than a mere product description.

Ultimately, the banks are seeking to protect the monetary transmission layer – the critical infrastructure through which dollar liquidity flows from the Federal Reserve to the broader economy. By tokenizing this layer on bank-controlled rails, they aim to preserve their gatekeeper status in an increasingly blockchain-native financial system.
