SBI Shinsei Bank Pilots Crypto Integration, Offering XRP Rewards

SBI Shinsei Bank is set to launch a pilot program that will integrate blockchain-based solutions into its payment infrastructure, marking a significant evolution in the relationship between traditional banking and digital assets. The initiative aims to embed cryptocurrency incentives within conventional banking products, offering customers a novel way to engage with digital currencies.

A New Pathway for Banking Customers to Access XRP

The Japanese bank is preparing to introduce a new avenue for customers to interact with digital assets by allowing them to convert a portion of their deposit interest into cryptocurrency rewards, including XRP. According to a post by RippleXity, the pilot, scheduled to commence on June 10, represents a notable stride toward integrating crypto exposure directly into traditional banking products.

This development will enable customers to access digital assets through their existing savings activities, bypassing the need for separate trading platforms. Under the proposed framework, customers will continue to earn interest on their yen deposits as usual, but will have the option to convert approximately 20% of that interest into crypto vouchers. These vouchers can then be redeemed for assets such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, or XRP at real-time market rates at the moment of conversion.

The pilot is slated to launch on June 10, with a full rollout anticipated by autumn 2026. This initiative is built upon SBI’s existing Hyper Deposit product and aligns with its broader digital asset strategy, which includes the anticipated launch of RLUSD in Japan. RippleXity highlights the significance of this development, noting that SBI is one of Japan’s most influential financial conglomerates and a long-standing partner of Ripple since 2012.

Rather than requiring customers to use a separate cryptocurrency application, this model seamlessly integrates XRP into Japanese banking. Millions of users could gain passive exposure to XRP simply by holding funds in their bank accounts. In essence, SBI is not merely offering crypto as an add-on service; it is incorporating XRP into the fundamental mechanics of saving money.

Regulatory Clarity May Create New Opportunities for XRP Ledger

The potential implementation of the GENIUS Act could prove to be a pivotal moment for XRP, significantly amplifying its real-world utility. An analyst known as SMQKE on X has indicated that the legislation introduces clear reserve requirements, structured licensing frameworks, and interoperability standards designed to integrate stablecoins. This move is expected to introduce Ripple’s RLUSD into the core of mainstream financial systems while simultaneously reducing systemic risk.

SMQKE noted that for XRP, this regulatory clarity could amplify its utility, given that RLUSD transactions on the XRP Ledger already account for over 95% of stablecoin activity on the Ledger. As RLUSD adoption expands under a regulated framework, each transaction on the XRPL continues to rely on XRP as a fee payment mechanism. These fees contribute to a deflationary dynamic by permanently burning a small amount of XRP with every transaction.

Mastercard Unveils Agent Pay for Machines, Enabling Autonomous AI Transactions

Mastercard announced Wednesday the debut of Agent Pay for Machines, a new payment platform designed to empower AI agents to conduct transactions autonomously using cards, bank accounts, and stablecoins.

The platform is engineered to allow AI systems to independently purchase services and initiate payments, including handling numerous small, background transactions, according to Mastercard. This offering represents an extension of the company’s existing Agent Pay program, specifically facilitating payments between AI agents, software platforms, and connected devices.

“Agent Pay for Machines will create the conditions for a superbloom of AI business models,” stated Jorn Lambert, Mastercard Chief Product Officer, in a press release. “Machine payments can make it possible for services to be bought and sold among agents at fundamentally different scales than payments today—very high volumes, very small values, very fast, and at extremely low latency.”

Over 30 companies have already joined this initiative, including prominent names such as Coinbase, OKX, Polygon, RippleX, Aave Labs, Alchemy, Anchorage Digital, BVNK, MoonPay, Stripe, Cloudflare, and the Solana Foundation.

This launch signifies Mastercard’s intensified focus on AI-driven commerce. The move aligns with a broader trend across the payments and cryptocurrency sectors, where companies like MoonPay, MetaMask, and Coinbase are actively exploring the potential of autonomous AI agents to execute services and complete transactions without direct human intervention.

The announcement follows a series of strategic moves by Mastercard into the cryptocurrency market throughout the year. In March, the company introduced its Crypto Partner Program, collaborating with over 85 firms, including Binance, Ripple, and PayPal, to develop products integrating digital assets with Mastercard’s payment network. Later that month, Mastercard agreed to acquire stablecoin infrastructure firm BVNK for up to $1.8 billion, a deal aimed at bolstering its capabilities in digital asset payments and settlement.

Mastercard has also significantly expanded its stablecoin operations in 2026. In March, the company joined Solana’s enterprise blockchain platform to support stablecoin settlement. Earlier this month, Mastercard broadened its program for settling transactions using regulated stablecoins, such as Circle’s USDC and Ripple’s RLUSD.

Myriad Integrates Chainlink for FIFA World Cup Prediction Markets

Myriad Taps Chainlink for 2026 World Cup Prediction Markets

Prediction market platform Myriad has selected Chainlink as its exclusive oracle infrastructure provider for the 2026 FIFA World Cup matches, aiming to automate the resolution and settlement of its prediction markets.

This strategic move builds upon Myriad’s existing integration with Chainlink’s Runtime Environment (CRE), which the platform currently utilizes for its cryptocurrency price markets. The CRE will now be responsible for managing market resolution and settlement for the global soccer tournament. The companies state this integration is designed to replace the more time-consuming, manual settlement processes prevalent on some other prediction platforms.

“The World Cup is the biggest stage in sport, and it’s exactly the kind of moment Myriad was built for,” said Ilan Hazan, Myriad’s co-founder and COO. “Traders want outcomes they can trust, the moment the whistle blows.”

Hazan further explained that the integration with Chainlink will facilitate near-instantaneous market settlement and user payouts, providing Myriad with the reliability needed to convert first-time users into long-term participants during the high-profile global sporting event.

“By adopting Chainlink, Myriad enables its prediction markets for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to deliver users accurate resolutions, high-speed settlement, and instant payouts,” stated William Reilly, Head of Strategic Initiatives at Chainlink Labs. He added that the tamper-proof auditability offered by Chainlink’s blockchain-powered oracles will assist Myriad in reducing resolution disputes as it caters to soccer fans worldwide.

Myriad is also hosting a $100,000 trading competition centered on World Cup markets. The top three traders will receive $20,000, $10,000, and $5,000 respectively, with an additional $10,000 in prizes to be distributed among other leaderboard participants. Top market makers will also benefit from a weekly pool of $5,000 in maker volume rewards throughout the competition, with the leaderboard resetting weekly.

Prediction markets allow users to trade shares tied to the outcomes of future events. The prices of these shares fluctuate between $0 and $1, reflecting the implied odds of each outcome. The sector has experienced rapid growth in the past two years, with platforms like Polymarket and Kalshi achieving multi-billion-dollar valuations.

The World Cup markets follow a period of significant activity for Myriad. In March, the platform successfully closed a “milestone” seed funding round with notable investors including MoonPay Ventures, Auros, EVG, Verda Ventures, and Fundstrat co-founder Tom Lee, alongside earlier backers such as ConsenSys and HashKey Capital. This fundraising effort came shortly after Myriad’s launch on BNB Chain, where it introduced automated markets focused on short timeframes, as part of its broader objective to “embed Myriad as a protocol.”

Myriad is owned by Decrypt’s parent company, Dastan.

  • Japan’s Top Banks to Launch Joint Stablecoin by March 2027

Japan’s Top Banks to Launch Joint Stablecoin by March 2027

Megabanks Form Council to Launch Joint Stablecoin by 2027

Japan’s three largest banking institutions—MUFG Bank, Mizuho Bank, and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation—have established a council with the goal of developing the operational frameworks necessary for the joint issuance of a stablecoin by March 2027.

According to a statement released by the banks, the stablecoin will be issued under a trust agreement. The three megabanks will act as joint settlors, with a designated “trust bank or similar institution” serving as the trustee. The banks are aiming for a joint launch in fiscal year 2026, with an emphasis on exploring the potential for stablecoins to be utilized across a broad spectrum of applications.

This initiative stems from a pilot project that commenced in late 2025. The project was designed to investigate the feasibility of regulatory and practical compliance when multiple banks collaborate on issuing a stablecoin, assessing whether such operations could be conducted legally and appropriately.

The undertaking is part of the Financial Services Agency’s (FSA) Payment Innovation Project. This specialized program was introduced to accelerate the development of blockchain-based payment innovations, operating within the existing FinTech Proof-of-Concept Hub, which has been a platform for fintech experiments since 2017.

Japan significantly clarified its regulatory landscape for stablecoins in 2023, enacting amendments to the Payment Services Act. These changes established a licensing regime for the issuance and distribution of fiat-pegged stablecoins. Under the new legislation, only licensed banks, registered money transfer agents, and trust companies are permitted to issue approved stablecoins. This regulatory clarity has since paved the way for several yen-backed stablecoin initiatives.

JPYC Inc. announced the launch of the nation’s first legally recognized yen-denominated stablecoin, JPYC, in October 2025. Following this, SBI Holdings and Startale Group unveiled JPYSC in February 2026, a yen stablecoin backed by a trust bank and intended for institutional and cross-border use cases. More recently, in May 2026, the Japan Blockchain Foundation announced its intention to issue a yen-pegged stablecoin, EJPY, on the Japan Open Chain and Ethereum networks.

The collaborative strategy adopted by the megabanks aligns with a surge in institutional stablecoin activity in Japan since regulatory clarity was achieved in 2023. In March 2025, USDC became the first dollar-pegged stablecoin to receive approval in Japan, issued by the cryptocurrency exchange SBI. Several months later, Ripple and SBI Holdings announced plans to introduce the RLUSD dollar-pegged stablecoin within the Japanese market.

Chainlink Holders Quietly Accumulate Amid Market Uncertainty

Chainlink Network Sees Surge in Wallet Holders Amid Market Volatility

The Chainlink network has surpassed 535,000 wallets holding at least one LINK token, marking the highest number of non-micro wallets since December 2022. This growth has occurred despite LINK’s price remaining significantly below its previous cycle peaks, according to data from Santiment.

    Indicators of Gradual Adoption

The analytics firm Santiment noted that a consistent rise in wallet counts is historically interpreted as a sign of gradual adoption and accumulation. This increase in new participants is considered an encouraging development, particularly during periods of market uncertainty. Santiment emphasized the importance of tracking wallets with at least one LINK, as this metric reflects network participation rather than short-term speculative trading. While prices are subject to market sentiment fluctuations, a growing holder base can signal increasing long-term trust and interest in the Chainlink ecosystem.

Underwhelming Price Performance Contrasts Network Growth

Despite the uptick in network participation, LINK’s price performance has been lackluster. The token has experienced a downward trend over the past month, falling from over $10.4 in early May to approximately $7.9 at the time of reporting. This suggests that the growing interest and adoption within the network have not yet translated into significant price appreciation for the asset.

    Increased Infrastructure Adoption

Even with LINK facing price pressure, the network has witnessed increased adoption of its infrastructure in recent weeks. Following an exploit in April that affected LayerZero-powered systems, both KelpDAO and Solv Protocol announced their intention to migrate their cross-chain operations to Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP). KelpDAO plans to transition its rsETH to Chainlink’s framework to enhance security, while Solv Protocol is moving over $700 million in Bitcoin-related assets to CCIP as part of a broader restructuring of its cross-chain infrastructure.

Chainlink’s Strategic Position and Future Outlook

Santiment commented on Chainlink’s strategic position, stating, “With Chainlink continuing to play a central role in oracle services, tokenized assets, and real-world asset infrastructure, watch for crypto’s #17 market cap to be a breakout candidate when overall markets turn bullish once again.”

Expanding Regulatory Engagement and Institutional Adoption

Chainlink Labs is also increasing its engagement in the regulatory landscape of the cryptocurrency industry. In collaboration with Anchorage Digital, it co-founded the Blockchain Leadership Fund, a Political Action Committee (PAC) that has endorsed ten candidates for the 2026 election cycle who advocate for pro-crypto and blockchain-focused policies. Furthermore, Fidelity International recently adopted Chainlink’s technology for its inaugural tokenized fund, FILQ.

Kraken Becomes Official Crypto Exchange Supporter for FIFA World Cup 2026

Cryptocurrency exchange Kraken has announced a partnership with FIFA, becoming the Official Crypto Exchange Supporter for the FIFA World Cup 2026. The deal was revealed on Tuesday, just two days before the start of the quadrennial soccer tournament.

The sponsorship will cover the seven-week competition, scheduled to run from June 11 to July 19. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.

The upcoming World Cup is set to be the largest in history, featuring 48 teams and 104 matches played across 16 host cities in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Organizers anticipate a cumulative global audience exceeding 6 billion viewers, a scale Kraken is leveraging for significant platform exposure.

“Football has always crossed borders. So does crypto,” said Kraken co-CEO Arjun Sethi in a statement. “For most of history, the best markets were open only to the few. The FIFA World Cup 2026 is where we show everyone else what they’ve been missing: an open, borderless financial system that anyone can join with a phone in their pocket. This isn’t a future concept. It’s here.”

Kraken’s involvement with FIFA will commence on Wednesday with a multi-country, multi-city countdown concert held on the eve of the opening match. The San Francisco-based exchange, established in 2011 and operating in over 190 countries, also plans to introduce “fan-focused product experiences” throughout North America and Europe during the tournament.

“Innovation has always played a central role in how FIFA evolves and enhances the fan experience,” stated FIFA Chief Business Officer Romy Gai. “As we prepare to welcome the world to the biggest FIFA World Cup in history, we are delighted to partner with Kraken, an organization that shares our commitment to innovation and technology.”

This new agreement expands Kraken’s existing sports sponsorship portfolio, which includes partnerships with Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur, Spanish side Atlético de Madrid, German club RB Leipzig, and the Williams Racing Formula 1 team.

The announcement comes amid warnings from law enforcement agencies about crypto scams targeting soccer fans looking to purchase World Cup tickets or merchandise.

In April, FIFA announced a separate partnership with ADI Predictstreet, a platform built on the ADI Chain network and focused on the Middle East/South Africa (MENA) market, designating it as the official prediction market platform for the tournament.

  • Bank of America Expands Global Payments Strategy

Bank of America Expands Global Payments Strategy

Bank of America is bolstering its global payments strategy with an intensified focus on enhancing cross-border transaction capabilities, underscoring the escalating significance of seamless international money transfers in contemporary finance. As one of the world’s preeminent financial institutions, and a company frequently cited in discussions around Ripple and payment innovation, Bank of America’s latest initiative highlights the ongoing evolution of global settlement infrastructure.

Banking Giants Embrace Hybrid Payment Models

Bank of America, a known partner of Ripple, is reportedly preparing to introduce a new cross-border payments service that will integrate SWIFT. An analyst, identified as SMQKE on X, has observed that rather than completely replacing existing systems, banks are increasingly adopting hybrid payment models that leverage both Ripple and SWIFT for international transactions. This dual-framework approach offers a practical solution for financial institutions, as RippleNet can be integrated into existing banking infrastructure much like a traditional payment system.

SMQKE posits that Ripple’s collaboration with Bank of America could pave the way for XRP to gain access to the bank’s extensive global payment network. This arrangement would allow banks to maintain their SWIFT connectivity for broad international reach while simultaneously utilizing XRP through RippleNet as a source of on-demand liquidity. Consequently, Bank of America’s new cross-border real-time payment service, operating within this hybrid model, is expected to further solidify the groundwork for XRP’s integration into the bank’s core payment infrastructure.

    XRP Ledger’s Institutional Compliance Advantages

The assertion that XRP is unsuitable for tokenization is technically unfounded, according to proponents. Crypto analyst CharuSan has highlighted that the XRP Ledger, with its institutional-grade compliance features, inherent security architecture, and deep liquidity capabilities, stands out as one of the most secure and appropriate networks for tokenization in the current market.

Unlike the Ethereum network, which requires the development of external smart contract code, such as ERC-20 tokens, to tokenize an asset, the XRP Ledger embeds tokenization directly into the core code of its Native Issued Assets. This eliminates the need for custom smart contract development, a common source of vulnerabilities, exploits, and cyberattacks. CharuSan explains that by integrating tokenization at the protocol level, the XRP Ledger enables the secure issuance and transfer of real-world assets like real estate, stocks, and bonds within seconds, without exposing institutions to smart contract risks.

Furthermore, regulatory compliance remains a critical prerequisite for institutional adoption. Wall Street and institutional banks are mandated to adhere to stringent Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations, including controls over who can hold tokenized assets. The XRP Ledger addresses these requirements natively by empowering issuers to restrict access and freeze suspicious accounts when necessary, ensuring that only authorized participants can receive tokens at the protocol level.

  • XRP Poised for Stocks, Loans Settlement: Is Infrastructure Ready?

XRP Poised for Stocks, Loans Settlement: Is Infrastructure Ready?

XRP Ledger Evolving Beyond Payments to Become Settlement Layer for Tokenized Assets

Ripple’s Chief Technology Officer Emeritus, David Schwartz, has outlined an ambitious vision for the XRP Ledger (XRPL), positioning it as a comprehensive settlement and issuance layer for a wide array of tokenized assets, including stocks, money market funds, repos, and on-chain loans. This strategic shift, detailed in a June 5 video segment, signals a significant expansion beyond its initial role as a fast payments network, a development viewed as bullish for XRP.

A Clear Roadmap and Tangible Progress

The roadmap presented is notably specific, with an aggressive timeline for infrastructure development and a confirmed list of institutional partners. The key question for observers is the current operational status of these initiatives, distinguishing between what is already live and what remains in the development pipeline.

    Real-World Asset Tokenization Surges

Evidence of XRPL’s growing traction in the real-world asset (RWA) tokenization space is not speculative but data-driven. Tokenized RWAs on the ledger experienced a dramatic surge, increasing from $24.7 million to $567.9 million throughout 2025, representing a 2,200% growth. By early 2026, this figure had climbed to approximately $2.325 billion.

This trajectory places XRPL among the top global platforms for distributed tokenized RWAs, capturing an estimated 1.53% of the total market. Key issuers driving this growth include VERT Capital, RLUSD, and OpenEden, which collectively accounted for 85.5% of the tokenized value as of mid-2025. Notably, Ripple’s regulated stablecoin, RLUSD, boasts a market capitalization of $1.3 billion, making it the third-largest US-regulated stablecoin.

The $2.3 billion figure represents the current live ecosystem. The implications of this growth for XRPL’s broader ambitions in tokenized equities and credit markets are still unfolding.

    Protocol Innovations Fueling Expansion

Schwartz’s vision hinges on two core protocol mechanisms. The Multi-Purpose Token (MPT) standard is designed to enable the on-chain representation of complex structured assets, such as bonds and funds. MPT incorporates built-in attributes like maturity dates and transfer restrictions, eliminating the need for custom smart contract logic.

Furthermore, the native lending protocol, slated for rollout under XLS-66 as part of XRPL Version 3.0.0, will facilitate fixed-term institutional loans. This protocol features isolated vaults and automated repayment systems. A permissioned decentralized exchange (DEX), with order books accessible only to Know Your Customer (KYC)-credentialed participants, has already launched its first live offering. These are not theoretical concepts but actively deployed infrastructure.

The activation of the full lending protocol is contingent on the XLS-66 validator vote, which requires an 80% supermajority.

    Strategic Sequencing of Product Rollouts

Schwartz’s presentation in the ‘XRP in a Minute’ segment deliberately sequenced the rollout of these capabilities. He began by referencing Bitcoin’s foundational role in establishing public blockchains for value transfer, then positioned XRPL as the subsequent layer, capable of supporting “both the native digital assets similar to bitcoin, as well as issued assets that can represent things like stablecoins or tokenized assets of any kind.”

He then explicitly named the near-term product categories: “tokenized securities to money market funds, even things like tokenized stocks,” followed by credit-focused offerings: “tokenized repos and tokenized loans.” This ordering is strategic, prioritizing securities and funds due to their clear institutional demand and the existing compliance infrastructure on XRPL. Repos and loans will follow once the XLS-66 lending protocol is fully operational.

While tokenized stocks have been mentioned, they are not yet confirmed as live products on the ledger. Archax, a UK-regulated digital securities exchange, has committed to a $1 billion pipeline that includes equities and fund units, indicating significant institutional interest. The underlying infrastructure, including MPT, the permissioned DEX, and credential-gated order books, is capable of supporting tokenized equities, though specific live products are yet to be announced.

Schwartz’s institutional thesis emphasizes that “Enterprises will provide the features that will attract mass retail adoption, where DeFi can truly deliver on its promise of replacing TradFi.” This perspective suggests that compliance-first, enterprise-developed financial products will serve as the primary on-ramp for the next wave of tokenization adoption, rather than permissionless protocols or retail speculation.

  • US Banks to Pilot Tokenized Deposit Network

US Banks to Pilot Tokenized Deposit Network

Top US Banks Poised to Launch Tokenized Deposit Network

Major Wall Street banks are reportedly preparing to launch a tokenized deposit network in the first half of 2027. The initiative is spearheaded by The Clearing House, a real-time payments company jointly owned by prominent financial institutions including JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Citigroup, and Wells Fargo.

“The Bridge” Project Aims to Integrate Blockchain

The project, dubbed “the bridge,” is designed to link traditional banking payment systems with blockchain infrastructure, enabling tokenized deposits to be transferred instantaneously with round-the-clock settlement. According to The Wall Street Journal, the underlying blockchain technology will be developed in partnership with a third-party vendor yet to be selected.

David Watson, Chief Executive of The Clearing House, described the move as significant for the banking industry, noting that the future of on-chain payments and finance is undergoing a “radically different” transformation.

Citigroup views the initiative as an enhancement of the existing role banks play within the financial system. Shahmir Khaliq, the firm’s head of services, stated that this development is “another step that effectively cements” banks’ positions in financing, money management, and capital markets.

    Navigating Stablecoin Concerns

Simultaneously, banks have expressed reservations about stablecoins, fearing that their widespread adoption could lead to a diversion of deposits away from traditional financial firms. For months, financial and crypto institutions have been at odds over proposed legislation that would permit customers of crypto firms to earn interest on their stablecoin holdings.

Network Accessibility and Potential Use Cases

The report indicates that all U.S. banks will have access to the tokenized deposit network. Potential applications include real-time liquidity management, programmable treasury operations, and cross-border payments. The Clearing House anticipates that large multinational corporations will be among its initial users.

However, Mark Monaco, head of global payment solutions at Bank of America, acknowledged that clients are not yet actively demanding tokenized deposits. He did, however, note a growing interest in the product, conceding that widespread adoption will likely take time.

JPMorgan has already made inroads into tokenized deposits with its in-house JPM Coin system, which facilitates payments on its private blockchain. More recently, the firm also introduced a token on the Base network for its institutional clients.

This latest development follows discussions last year among major financial institutions regarding the creation of a joint stablecoin through The Clearing House and Early Warning Services. While this remains under exploration, some banking executives, as reported by WSJ, are still uncertain about the broader benefits digital assets offer beyond cross-border payments.
