Ethereum Price Outlook: Uncertainty Persists Amidst Divergent Analyst Views and Market Signals

Ethereum’s current price of $1,875 is at the center of ongoing market analysis, with experts offering divergent views on its near-term and long-term trajectory. While some traders anticipate a significant pullback to $1,475, current analysis suggests this level may not be reached, with a more immediate pullback to $1,537 expected in October, which some interpret as a potential buying opportunity.

Over the past 24 hours, Ethereum has seen a decline of more than 2%, though it currently holds a slight weekly gain. The anticipated October pullback to $1,537 is viewed by some analysts as a retest and a higher low, rather than a new market bottom. This potential dip, even if approximately 15% above the $1,475 level some traders are watching, is considered by some to be a potential buying opportunity, though the exact timing and impact of future price movements remain uncertain.

Further analysis indicates that Ethereum is exhibiting strong high-timeframe bullish structures, having reclaimed its long-term descending trendline and consolidating above it. This structure is considered valid above $1,510 on daily closes. According to Nonzee, ETH could move back above $2,203 and test the $2,872 range high. Looking further ahead, price targets for 2027 range from $4,500 to $4,700. Crypto Patel, another analyst, has outlined even more ambitious long-term projections, identifying upside targets at $2,400, $3,000, $3,600, $4,200, and $5,000. A broader roadmap suggests an accumulation zone between $1,000 and $1,600, with potential targets of $10,000 and eventually $20,000 by 2030. If this long-term outlook materializes, current market conditions could represent a significant entry point for the decade.

In corporate developments, Bitmine has expanded its Ethereum holdings, acquiring an additional 7,391 ETH to bring its total beyond 5.8 million tokens, valued at approximately $11.2 billion. However, the pace of this accumulation has slowed compared to earlier purchases that exceeded 27,000 and 42,000 units. Bitmine Chairman Tom Lee remains optimistic about Ethereum’s long-term potential, despite expressing disappointment regarding the CLARITY Act not seeing a Senate vote before the August recess.

On the investment fund front, US-based spot Ethereum ETFs experienced $14.59 million in net withdrawals, breaking a four-day streak of inflows. Despite this recent outflow, these funds have attracted around $230 million in net investment so far in August.

The market presents a complex picture with divergent price predictions and mixed signals from institutional activity. While some analysts point to strong bullish structures and significant long-term upside potential, recent ETF flows indicate a degree of caution. The anticipated October pullback to $1,537 is highlighted as a key event to watch for potential buying opportunities, though the ultimate price action remains subject to various market forces and interpretations. The uncertainty surrounding the CLARITY Act and its potential Senate vote also remains.

    Why This Matters

Analysts are discussing Ethereum’s recent price action, with some suggesting that a widely anticipated dip to $1,475 may not occur. The possibility of Ethereum reaching the $1,475 price point remains uncertain.

    Broader Context

Ethereum has declined by more than 2% over the past 24 hours, but still holds a small weekly gain.

  • ICP Surges 10% Weekly: Analysis and Outlook

ICP Surges 10% Weekly: Analysis and Outlook

Internet Computer (ICP) Sees Significant Weekly Gains Amidst Broader Market Volatility

New York, NY – The past week has been a period of considerable fluctuation for the leading cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), which ultimately registered modest gains. However, the utility token of the Internet Computer, ICP, has significantly outperformed all other top 10 digital assets during this timeframe, with some analysts suggesting it may be poised for a more substantial rally.

    ICP Surges to Multi-Month Highs

Earlier today, August 11, ICP’s price climbed to nearly $2.40, its highest point since mid-June. While it has since pulled back to approximately $2.28, according to CoinGecko, this still represents a notable 10% increase over the past week.

    Potential Catalysts for the Resurgence

The precise reasons behind ICP’s recent surge remain somewhat unclear. One potential factor cited is the Internet Computer’s proximity to a significant milestone: processing 300 billion transactions. The X account BSCN reported that the network has processed roughly 298 billion transactions since its inception. For context, BSCN noted that Solana, a network recognized for its scalability, has generated a cumulative total of 121 billion transactions, which, while impressive, falls considerably short of the Internet Computer’s figure.

Analyst Sentiment Points to Further Upside

Following this recent upward movement, the cryptocurrency community on X is abuzz with predictions of further gains. Analyst Clifton Fx has posited that ICP is preparing for a “massive bullish rally” of 100-150%. Meanwhile, analyst CW suggests that the asset has encountered a sell wall zone between approximately $2.35 and $2.45, indicating that a sustained break above this level could pave the way for a rise to $3.

Crypto With Gopal has also weighed in, identifying a falling wedge formation on ICP’s price chart. This analyst believes a “clean breakout” above the $3.50-$4 range could trigger a significant expansion, potentially pushing the price as high as $7.

    Historical Context and Cautionary Notes

Despite its recent recovery, ICP remains substantially below its all-time high. The token reached a historic peak of around $700 in the spring of 2021, at which point its market capitalization briefly exceeded $18 billion. Currently, its market capitalization stands at less than $1.3 billion, positioning it as the 56th-largest cryptocurrency.

In contrast to the optimistic outlook, some analysts have previously warned of potential downturns. X user Cryptorphic had envisioned a possible drop to $1.67 if the $2.10-$2.12 range failed to hold as support. Similarly, Crypto Patel forecasted a potential crash to $0.50 if the psychological level of $2 was breached. Given the prevailing bear market conditions, such significant declines remain a possibility, underscoring the need for caution among traders and investors.

  • XRP Price Below $1: Analysts Offer Divergent Views Amidst Mixed Market Signals

XRP Price Below $1: Analysts Offer Divergent Views Amidst Mixed Market Signals

XRP’s price has recently fallen below the psychologically significant $1 mark, a development that has coincided with a divergence of opinions among market analysts. The current situation underscores the ambiguity surrounding XRP’s market trajectory, with uncertainty remaining about its near-term future.

Over the last week, XRP experienced a price drop of more than 7%, breaching the $1.00 level. This pullback has amplified concerns within the community, with some analysts expressing more bearish outlooks. According to Crypto Bitlord, the asset is “basically dead” and has no future. However, other community members argue that XRP still holds potential for future growth.

    Conflicting Analyst Outlooks

Analysts are offering conflicting predictions regarding XRP’s immediate future. X user Diana projected a potential drop to $0.86 should the price decisively break below $1.00. Conversely, Diana also suggested that a strong reaction around that zone, followed by a reclaim of $1.036, could interrupt the bearish perspective and trigger a relief bounce. Another commentator, ChartNerd, opined that XRP must reclaim the $1.02-$1.06 range, or it is likely to head further south.

On-Chain Data Presents a Complex Picture

Amidst these price concerns, on-chain data presents a more complex picture. Ali Martinez revealed that large investors accumulated over 380 million XRP, valued at nearly $400 million at the time, within a seven-day period. This accumulation reduces the available supply on the open market, which could potentially support a price increase if demand remains constant or grows. Such activity might also encourage smaller investors to follow suit, injecting fresh capital into the ecosystem.

Further adding to the mixed signals, Ali Martinez noted that XRP’s TD Sequential indicator on a monthly scale has flashed a buy signal. Historically, such signals have preceded price surges. However, Martinez had previously outlined $1.06 as a critical level, warning of a potential collapse to $0.62 if the price slipped under it, a scenario that has now occurred.

The divergence in expert opinions and the conflicting nature of the available data make it difficult to ascertain a clear direction for XRP in the near term. While whale accumulation and a technical buy signal offer potential indicators, the breach of the $1 psychological level and bearish analyst commentary present risks. Investors are advised to approach the market with caution, recognizing the limitations of current signals and the prevailing uncertainty.

    Why This Matters

The materials describe a narrow update: XRP’s price dropped below the $1 mark, a level considered psychologically significant. Whether the current price dip represents a buying opportunity or a sign of the asset’s decline.

    Broader Context

Source materials place the market analysis in this context: Ripple’s cross-border token has performed quite poorly over the last week, dropping by more than 7%.

XRP Price Prediction: Ripple’s Token Hovers Near Key Support as Peers Rally

XRP is currently trading at $1.006, a 3.2% decrease on the day, teetering just above the crucial $1 psychological level. This price action stands in contrast to its market peers, which have seen rallies while XRP struggles to gain momentum. The current situation suggests a potential breakout is imminent, with the direction of this move determining whether XRP is poised for a significant upward trend or a further decline.

    Analyst Roadmaps and Key Levels

Analyst EGRAG CRYPTO has outlined a roadmap for XRP, indicating that a sustained move towards $3.00-$3.60 would require the token to first overcome resistance at $1.30-$1.60 and then $1.96, validating a “Wave 3” scenario. On the downside, immediate support is identified at $1.00-$0.95, followed by $0.75, and then a more significant zone between $0.60-$0.52 if bearish pressures intensify.

Meanwhile, analyst That Martini Guy has highlighted an unusual divergence: Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana experienced bounces last week, while XRP declined by approximately 5%, despite ongoing inflows into related exchange-traded funds (ETFs).

    Technical Indicators and Market Indecision

XRP recently recorded its lowest weekly close in nearly two years at $1.029. The asset is currently trading within a narrow range, between $1.0038 and $1.0218, a tight band that signals market indecision rather than strong directional conviction. TradingView data points to the next resistance level at $1.06, with potential upside targets at $1.35 and $1.64 should momentum shift favorably. CoinGecko data corroborates this, showing XRP’s 24-hour low and high prices closely aligned with its current trading price, indicating a market that is coiled rather than trending.

    Bull, Base, and Bear Scenarios

The bullish outlook for XRP hinges on its ability to reclaim $1.06 and then break through the $1.30-$1.60 resistance zone, which EGRAG CRYPTO suggests would confirm the breaking of Wave 1’s high and validate a potential Wave 3 move towards $3.00-$3.60.

The base case scenario anticipates XRP trading sideways between $0.95 and $1.06 as the market awaits a significant catalyst. The bearish scenario, however, posits that the $1.00 support level will fail, leading to a price decline towards $0.75 and potentially the $0.60-$0.52 zone.

    Fundamental Strength vs.

    Price Action

Despite a strong fundamental case, driven by Ripple’s ETF demand and increasing Real World Asset (RWA) activity on the XRP Ledger—which has seen tokenized assets surge to $4.06 billion across 373 assets from just $73 million in January 2025—price confirmation remains elusive. For XRP holders, the prolonged period of price stagnation around the $1 mark has been a source of frustration.

The anticipation of a Wave 3 breakout is now viewed as a multi-week bet rather than a short-term trade. This has led some investors to reallocate capital towards earlier-stage infrastructure projects with potentially higher upside, where market capitalization is not yet a limiting factor.

  • ADA Rally Stalls: Analyst Predicts 25% Decline

ADA Rally Stalls: Analyst Predicts 25% Decline

Cardano’s native token, ADA, has experienced a significant rally in recent weeks, but analysts are now warning of a potential sharp downturn. The cryptocurrency saw its price surge by 15% over the past month, reaching a high of nearly $0.21 in early August, a level not seen since June. This upward momentum was initially fueled by a substantial influx of large investors, who acquired over 240 million ADA coins in less than a week.

    Potential for a Significant Decline

Despite the recent gains, popular crypto analyst Ali Martinez has identified several factors that could signal a substantial short-term price correction for ADA. Martinez pointed to a decrease in the number of “whales” – addresses holding between 1 million and 10 million ADA. This metric has fallen from 2,370 to 2,340, suggesting that some large holders may be cashing out or reallocating their assets following the price surge.

Furthermore, Martinez highlighted the formation of a “death cross” between Cardano’s Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) ratio and its 7-day simple moving average. This technical indicator is often interpreted as a sign of weakening momentum and an increased risk of a deeper correction. Adding to these concerns, the TD Sequential indicator on ADA’s daily chart has flashed a sell signal.

Martinez predicts that if these warning signs materialize, ADA could fall to the mid-range support level of $0.17. A further breakdown below this point could expose the lower boundary of the channel, potentially pushing the price down to around $0.144.

    ETF Setback and Investor Sentiment

Adding to the bearish outlook, Grayscale, a prominent digital asset manager, recently withdrew its exchange-traded fund (ETF) filings for three altcoins, including Cardano. The launch of such a product had been eagerly anticipated by bulls, who believed it could significantly boost demand and drive up ADA’s price. The withdrawal means investors will have to wait longer for this potential catalyst.

Mixed Signals and Potential Buying Opportunities

However, not all indicators are pointing downwards. In recent days, ADA has seen higher exchange outflows than inflows, suggesting that investors are moving their holdings from centralized exchanges to self-custody. This trend can reduce immediate selling pressure on the market.

Additionally, Cardano’s Relative Strength Index (RSI) has dropped to 25, indicating that the asset is in oversold territory. Historically, such low RSI levels are often viewed as potential buying opportunities, as they suggest that the price may have fallen too far, too fast and could be due for a rebound.

Coinbase Launches Derivatives Trading for UK Professionals

Coinbase announced Tuesday it is opening derivatives trading to professional investors in the United Kingdom, offering more than 170 contracts across cryptocurrency, commodities, equities, and foreign exchange, with leverage up to 50 times.

The new offering includes three contract types, according to a post by Keith Grose, Coinbase’s UK and international vice president. Perpetual contracts will cover the full range of over 170 assets, have no expiry date, trade 24/7, and offer leverage up to 50x.

Dated futures will settle on fixed dates, incorporate the cost of carry into the entry price rather than charging funding rates, and have a leverage cap of 20x. Crypto options, limited to crypto underlyings, will include calls and puts for both single and multi-leg strategies, with payoff diagrams integrated into the trading interface.

Access will be restricted to investors classified as professional clients, and Coinbase indicated the rollout will be phased. The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has prohibited the sale of crypto derivatives to UK retail consumers since 2021, forcing individual traders to rely on offshore platforms.

This expansion is supported by an investment services authorization, commonly known as a MiFID license, which Coinbase obtained from the FCA on July 7. This license permits the company to offer instruments beyond just cryptocurrencies. In March, Coinbase had already introduced crypto futures to 26 European countries under MiFID II regulations, with leverage up to 10 times.

Grose positioned the launch as a key component of the company’s “Everything Exchange” strategy, which aims to consolidate cryptocurrency, stocks, derivatives, and prediction markets within a single application. Coinbase highlighted that global crypto derivatives volume is typically 4.4 times that of spot markets, a disparity that it argues leaves professional traders dependent on unregulated venues.

The derivatives offering follows closely on other recent expansions. Just five days prior, Coinbase introduced 24/5 U.S. stock trading to its UK users, covering nearly 4,000 stocks. Six days before that, the company opened perpetual futures trading to wholesale clients in Australia. Coinbase asserts it is the most comprehensively regulated crypto firm operating in the UK market.

This growth is occurring ahead of the full implementation of the UK’s crypto regulatory framework, which the FCA finalized in June. The mandatory regime is not expected to take effect until October 2027.

The launch also comes at a time of ongoing uncertainty regarding the cryptocurrency sector’s relationship with the UK financial establishment. On Tuesday, Parliament’s Crypto and Digital Assets All-Party Parliamentary Group sent a letter to bank chief executives as part of an inquiry into banking access, following numerous complaints from crypto firms unable to reliably open accounts.

Prediction Market Trading Terminal Fireplace Shuts Down After Just 195 Days

Fireplace, a trading terminal for prediction markets that secured $1.5 million in funding in February, announced on August 10 that it will cease operations. Users have until September 30 at 23:59 UTC to close their positions, withdraw funds, and export their account data.

“We’re shutting down Fireplace,” the company stated in a post. “To everyone who traded with us and supported us along the way, thank you. It was a hell of a run.” The announcement did not provide a specific reason for the closure. When asked if low trading volume was the cause, the company did not respond. Fireplace has invited individuals or teams building in the prediction market space and interested in its technology to contact them directly. The terminal will remain accessible until the September 30 deadline.

Fireplace launched publicly on January 27, with its pre-seed funding round announced on February 18, marking a 195-day period between its debut and its eventual wind-down.

The funding round was led by Frachtis, with participation from White Star Capital and syndicate rounds on Legion and Echo. At the time of its funding announcement, Fireplace reported a waitlist of over 30,000 traders, more than 10,000 followers on X, and recognition with the Polymarket builders badge.

The terminal was designed to aggregate markets, liquidity, and execution across various platforms, offering real-time data, wallet and whale tracking, advanced charting tools, and smart order routing. Sumer Malhotra, Co-Founder and CEO, previously stated that “Prediction markets are one of the most powerful financial primitives, but the user experience hasn’t caught up.” Co-Founder and CTO Akshay Rajagopal had emphasized the need for prediction markets to have “their own Bloomberg Terminal.” Xavier Meegan, CIO of Frachtis, had noted that Fireplace was “building the professional interface that markets like Polymarket have been missing.”

In contrast to Fireplace’s short lifespan, Kalshi announced a $1 billion Series F funding round on May 7, valuing the company at $22 billion. This round was led by Coatue and included contributions from Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, IVP, Paradigm, Morgan Stanley, and ARK Invest. Kalshi reported that its annualized trading volume had surged from $52 billion to $178 billion over six months and that it handles over 90% of prediction market activity in the United States.

Meanwhile, Polymarket is reportedly in discussions to raise $400 million at a valuation close to $15 billion. Intercontinental Exchange, the parent company of the NYSE, has invested approximately $2 billion in Polymarket across two separate investments. It is notable that Fireplace routed orders to both Polymarket and Kalshi, platforms that CryptoPotato ranks as the top two prediction markets.

The broader venture capital landscape for crypto and blockchain saw a significant slowdown in the first quarter of 2026. According to Galaxy Digital, venture firms invested roughly $4 billion across 355 deals in the sector, representing a 50% decrease in capital invested and a 16% drop in the number of deals compared to the previous quarter.

  • Solana Eyes $100 as Bullish Signals Emerge

Solana Eyes $100 as Bullish Signals Emerge

Solana’s price has surged over 6% in the past week, mirroring a broader recovery in the cryptocurrency market, and is currently trading above $76. With a confluence of bullish indicators emerging, one analyst suggests that Solana could reach levels not seen since February 2026 if current market conditions solidify into a breakout.

    Bullish Signals Emerge

According to analyst Ali Martinez, Solana is exhibiting a pattern within a parallel channel, with $78 identified as a critical resistance level. A decisive move above the mid-range of this channel could propel SOL towards the upper boundary, potentially reaching $100.

Further bolstering this outlook, the TD Sequential indicator on Solana’s daily chart has generated a buy signal, typically signaling an impending upward trend or the commencement of a new bullish cycle. The resistance trendline at $78.7, situated near the channel’s mid-range, is considered a key point for confirming this potential breakout.

Adding to the positive sentiment, the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) has formed a “golden cross,” another indicator suggesting an imminent upside breakout for SOL. If these signals are validated, Martinez anticipates that Solana could indeed ascend to the $100 mark.

    Previous Analysis and Future Targets

Trader Pepesso had previously highlighted Solana as having one of the most promising technical setups in the crypto space. At that time, he pointed to the $45-$60 range as a crucial area, noting its role in initiating the asset’s bull run from 2023 to 2024. A return to this zone, provided $45 holds on a retest, would align with an accumulation thesis. A definitive break below $45, however, would invalidate this scenario.

On the upside, Pepesso identified $100 as the first significant confirmation level. Surpassing this threshold could bring the $150-$200 range into focus, followed by a potential advance towards previous cycle highs.

    Network Activity and Real-World Adoption

Beyond price action, Solana’s blockchain has experienced a robust week of development and adoption. BlackRock expanded its presence on the network with the introduction of BRSRV, a money market fund designed to support stablecoin reserves.

Western Union’s launch of Stablecard also represents a significant real-world use case for the blockchain. This digital wallet and Visa-backed credit card utilizes USDPT, a stablecoin pegged to the U.S. dollar and issued by Anchorage Digital Bank on Solana.

Furthermore, Take-Two Interactive has introduced tokenized TTWO shares on the network via Backpack Securities, with each token fully backed by the underlying stock.

In a notable achievement, Solana processed a record 1.01 billion non-vote transactions within a single week. The volume of tokenized equities on the network reached approximately $1.45 billion in July, securing an impressive 82% share of the global market for this segment.

XRP Price Outlook Brightens Post-SEC Lawsuit, AI Predicts Significant Gains

The long-standing lawsuit that cast a shadow over XRP for years has concluded, fundamentally altering the cryptocurrency’s financial outlook. Artificial intelligence models, including ChatGPT, are now forecasting a substantial price surge for XRP. Predictions suggest a potential climb from the current $1.02 level to between $4 and $6 by the close of 2026. In a scenario of robust market optimism, the price could even reach $7 to $8.

    Legal Clarity Fuels Stronger Thesis

The resolution of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) litigation has effectively removed the most significant legal impediment for XRP. ChatGPT posits that this development strengthens the investment thesis for XRP more than in any previous market cycle.

Institutional Demand and Regulated Liquidity Expand

The introduction of U.S. spot XRP Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) has opened direct channels for institutional investment. Furthermore, the availability of CME XRP futures and options provides regulated liquidity and essential hedging infrastructure, bolstering market stability and accessibility for larger players.

On-Chain Activity and Developer Ecosystem Growth

Simultaneously, broader adoption of ledger technology is expanding. Developments such as RLUSD settlement, the tokenization of assets, and the growth of institutional decentralized finance (DeFi) are collectively driving increased on-chain activity for XRP. The platform’s native lending capabilities and Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatibility are also enhancing its appeal to developers, enabling a wider range of applications and innovations. Ripple’s strategic acquisitions in prime brokerage, treasury services, and payments infrastructure further solidify its institutional presence.

    Potential for Further Regulatory Catalysts

Additional clarity on U.S. regulatory frameworks could emerge before the end of the year. ChatGPT identifies this as another significant potential catalyst that remains on the horizon.

    Bearish Case Scenarios

The bearish outlook for XRP hinges on several factors. Continued weakness across the broader cryptocurrency market represents the primary concern. A second risk involves disappointing demand for the newly launched ETFs. The third and most structural challenge is the substantial supply of XRP still held by Ripple. Under these conditions, XRP could remain within the $0.70 to $1.20 range.

    Chart Performance Trails Positive Developments

Despite the recent positive news, XRP’s price chart has not yet reflected these improvements. The cryptocurrency reached a peak above $3.60 last July and has since experienced a decline through multiple support levels. October saw a sharp drop towards $2.60, followed by a break below $1.80 in February, pushing the price near $1.15. A range between $1.30 and $1.55 established in the spring appeared to offer a floor, but this was broken in June, sending XRP below $1.20. July and August have been characterized by a gradual decline, with the price currently at its lowest point on record.

Current Trading Levels and Technical Indicators

XRP closed at $1.02823, marking a 0.09% decrease of $0.00094 on the day. The trading session ranged between $1.02713 and $1.04020. Immediate support is identified at the psychological level of $1.00, with resistance anticipated at $1.10, followed by $1.20 and $1.40.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) stands at 38.25, with its signal line at 41.62. The oscillator’s position, trailing by over three points, indicates that sellers currently maintain control. While the RSI is approaching oversold territory, it has not yet triggered a definitive signal. Momentum indicators point downwards, showing no immediate signs of reversal.

ChatGPT’s bearish price range begins at $1.20, a level XRP is currently trading below. Holding the $1.00 mark is therefore the critical first step before any upward price movements become significant.

  • Crypto Faces Scrutiny as Over 100 Projects Collapse in 2026

Crypto Faces Scrutiny as Over 100 Projects Collapse in 2026

Crypto Faces Dot-Com Style Shakeout as Over 100 Projects Fold

The cryptocurrency industry is currently undergoing a significant shakeout, reminiscent of the dot-com era, with more than 100 projects reportedly shutting down, filing for bankruptcy, or vanishing in 2026, according to MoonPay President Keith Grossman.

Grossman, speaking on August 10, suggested that the current downturn is compelling crypto companies to confront a fundamental question: are they developing products that people genuinely need?

In a post on X, referencing a CoinDesk report, Grossman described himself as “a geriatric” by crypto standards. He noted his experience with market cycles, having joined WIRED in 2002 shortly after the dot-com crash and taking on his first leadership role there during the 2008 financial crisis.

“Companies fail, people lose jobs, careers change & confidence gets shaken,” Grossman wrote, observing that such challenging environments can prompt individuals to re-evaluate their motivations for building within the crypto space.

The trend of over 100 crypto initiatives ceasing operations or declaring bankruptcy this year spans a wide range of entities, including exchanges, wallets, decentralized finance (DeFi) projects, NFT marketplaces, and blockchain networks.

Grossman drew a parallel between the current situation and the dot-com collapse. He argued that the internet’s inability to sustain thousands of businesses did not signify a failure of the technology itself. Instead, it highlighted that merely being an “internet company” was insufficient for building a viable business. He sees a similar test emerging for the cryptocurrency sector.

“The question is no longer whether you can launch a token, create another chain, raise a large round or generate attention,” he stated. “It is simpler: Are you creating something people actually need?”

The veteran crypto figure also linked digital assets with artificial intelligence, characterizing AI as “scalable intelligence” and crypto as “scalable truth.” This framework, attributed to John D’Agostino, posits that blockchains can reduce the costs associated with establishing ownership, authenticity, and settlement.

This perspective led him to discuss tokenization, though he cautioned that placing an asset on a blockchain does not automatically confer value. According to Grossman, the technology must demonstrably improve the user experience to create meaningful value.

Several project closures underscore that high usage alone has not always translated into sustainable revenue. Tally, a governance platform utilized by over 500 protocols, announced its closure despite having processed more than $1 billion in payments. Similarly, Everclear shut down after reaching $500 million in monthly transaction volume.

Exchanges have also felt this pressure. As reported last month, BitMart and BitMEX have begun winding down their trading operations. BitMart’s BMX token saw a decline of over 60% following the announcement. Movement Labs filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on July 23, causing its MOVE token to fall more than 99% from its previous all-time high.

For Grossman, these failures do not indicate a fundamental failure of cryptocurrency. Instead, they serve as a test of whether individual projects possess a product, customers, and a business model capable of weathering the disappearance of readily available capital.

“Putting something on a blockchain does not make it valuable,” he wrote. “The technology has to earn its place. And so do we.”
