  • Imperial Secures $1.5M Seed Funding for Solana Derivatives Platform

Imperial Secures $1.5M Seed Funding for Solana Derivatives Platform

Imperial, a Solana-based trading terminal for perpetual futures, has reportedly raised $1.5 million in a seed round to fuel platform expansion, according to a report from SolanaFloor.

    Funding Ambiguity Surrounds Reported Raise

The funding landscape surrounding Imperial appears more opaque than a typical press release might suggest. Public statements from the project have emphasized backing from B&J Studios rather than external venture capital, and no investor list or deal documentation has emerged to corroborate the reported raise. This lack of transparency is significant, as figures ranging from $1.5 million to $2 million have been circulating. Without official documentation, the round remains a reported sum rather than a confirmed transaction.

    Imperial’s Trading and Routing Capabilities

Imperial functions as both a trading terminal and an order router, directing trades to venues such as Phoenix, FlashTrade, GMTrade, and Jupiter Perps. Beyond order routing, the platform offers features tailored for active traders, including advanced order types, comprehensive profit and loss tracking, and a community points program designed to incentivize trading activity.

    Armada: A New Liquidity Frontier

A more significant development is Armada, which Imperial describes as a PropAMM (Proprietary Automated Market Maker). This product is engineered to deliver low-cost liquidity while ensuring all transactions remain on the Solana blockchain. Armada is currently in the process of rolling out with taker fees set at 1 basis point, meaning traders pay 0.01% of the trade value. The decision to keep all operations on-chain is deliberate, contrasting with many trading products that move parts of their operations off-chain for speed. This on-chain approach preserves transparency, allowing for scrutiny of transaction flows.

    Leadership and Background

Imperial is led by CEO Jordan Prince, a former employee of the trading firm Citadel, who also contributed to the Metaplex standard, a widely adopted framework for digital assets on Solana. The project’s CTO is Hunter Simmons, who previously worked on Teleport, a project that secured $15 million in funding.

    Strategic Fundraising Approach

As of May 2026, Imperial’s primary backing comes from B&J Studios, with no confirmed external seed funding publicly disclosed. The project has previously indicated a strategic decision to postpone outside fundraising efforts. A confirmed $1.5 million round would represent a departure from this stance. If the raise is not officially confirmed, Imperial would continue to stand out as a Solana perpetuals project growing without a prominent funding announcement.

    Modest Raise and Competitive Pressures

Regardless of confirmation, the reported $1.5 million figure is modest by cryptocurrency industry standards, a fraction of the $15 million raised by Simmons’ previous project, Teleport. Armada’s 1 basis point taker fee introduces competitive pressure. A low-fee liquidity source integrated within a routing product could potentially divert trading volume to Imperial’s own pool, provided its execution capabilities are robust.

    Execution Risks and Structural Considerations

The primary risk lies in execution. Low fees are only effective if liquidity is sufficient to fill orders without significant slippage, which is the difference between the expected and actual trading price. Furthermore, a structural question arises for the venues to which Imperial routes orders. A router that also operates its own liquidity pool has an inherent incentive to prioritize its own offerings. How Imperial navigates this potential conflict of interest will determine whether other venues perceive it as a collaborator or a rival.

    Key Factors to Monitor

Several key developments warrant attention: whether the reported seed round is officially confirmed with named investors; the pace at which Armada completes its rollout; and whether the community points program fosters sustained trading volume rather than a temporary surge driven by speculative activity.

  • XRP Chart Mirrors 2016, Targets $23

XRP Chart Mirrors 2016, Targets $23

XRP trades near $1.50, showing a slight decline, but a long-term chart comparison suggests a potential target of $23. The current market structure bears a striking resemblance to XRP’s performance in 2016. However, that historical period began with five consecutive months of losses, a factor that significantly alters the risk profile of such a prediction.

    Chart Analysis and Price Targets

Analysts are mapping XRP’s current chart patterns onto its 2016 trajectory, employing Fibonacci extensions to forecast future price movements. This comparative analysis highlights a notable 284% surge in March 2017, following an extended downturn. In October 2016, XRP experienced a 7% drop and continued to lose ground in each of the subsequent four months.

For the immediate future, the critical question is not just whether the pattern appears familiar, but whether buyers can successfully reclaim resistance levels amidst persistent broader market pressure. Despite reports indicating that South Korean trading activity has propelled XRP ahead of Bitcoin and Ethereum in volume, its price remains range-bound.

    Current Market Conditions

At $1.50, XRP has seen a 0.3% decrease over the past 24 hours, with its daily trading range reported between $1.49 and $1.51. The research indicates a positive seven-day trend, with a reading of 1.30%.

Immediate support for XRP is observed around the $1.46–$1.48 mark. Resistance is concentrated near $1.54–$1.56, with $1.60 serving as a more significant hurdle. Approximately 2.5 billion XRP tokens are reportedly held around the $1.60 level, potentially increasing supply as the price approaches this zone.

XRP itself is currently trading below its September high of $1.65, and the chart remains within a defined range. The current context of XRP’s support, resistance, and demand from ETF flows provides another framework for assessing these price levels.

The Relevance of the 2016 Pattern

The 2016 pattern could indeed hold relevance, but only if the current price action confirms the historical setup. The $23 price objective remains speculative and is not an established consensus target.

    Near-Term Catalysts

Potential near-term catalysts for XRP include Ripple’s regular escrow releases and the proposed Evernorth transaction. The latter, approved by shareholders on September 30, involves a treasury plan of approximately 473 million XRP. However, neither event guarantees immediate demand; escrow releases do not confirm token sales, and a planned treasury does not equate to sustained market buying.

XRP’s current trading range means that any significant upward movement hinges on resistance levels being overcome. This can be frustrating for traders seeking more dynamic price action. Even a successful breakout above $1.60 would represent a vastly different scenario from achieving a 15-fold increase in value. An early-stage token typically carries a different risk profile.

    Maxi Doge ($MAXI) Token Launch

Maxi Doge ($MAXI) is an Ethereum ERC-20 meme token inspired by a large canine and a community focused on high-leverage trading.

The presale for Maxi Doge is priced at $0.0002842, and the project has reportedly raised nearly $5 million. Staking is also available to presale buyers, offering a substantial 60% APY. Additional features include trading competitions exclusively for token holders with leaderboard rewards and a Maxi Fund treasury designated for liquidity and partnerships.

The project employs meme-first marketing with a “gym-bro” humor, using the tagline: “Never skip leg-day, never skip a pump.”

Investors are advised to research Maxi Doge and review project details before the presale concludes.

  • Strategy Posts $21B Q3 Gain, Strive Buys $169M Bitcoin

Strategy Posts $21B Q3 Gain, Strive Buys $169M Bitcoin

Bitcoin traded at $85,500, a 0.6% dip over the past 24 hours, following a recent push back above $86,000 and a brief test of levels below $87,000. Despite this pullback, price predictions for the cryptocurrency remain largely bullish. The retreat, however, has placed the recent breakout attempt under renewed scrutiny, as substantial corporate buying has yet to overcome immediate resistance.

Strategy reported an estimated $20.91 billion gain on its Bitcoin holdings in the third quarter. Concurrently, Strive disclosed the acquisition of 2,000 BTC for $169 million, at an average price of $84,422 per coin. This latest purchase brings Strive’s total holdings to 29,462 BTC.

These significant figures bolster the narrative of ongoing accumulation, but they do not definitively set the price trend. Bitcoin’s next directional move hinges on whether demand can absorb the supply concentrated around the $87,000 mark, and whether macroeconomic data continues to support favorable interest rate expectations.

The cryptocurrency briefly approached $87,000 on October 5th but has since retreated. Sustained demand from exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and consistent trading volume will be crucial if the market is to break through resistance rather than revert to its previous trading range.

The immediate price hurdle lies between $87,000 and $87,400, with $87,570 representing a broader threshold for continued upward momentum. On the downside, the $82,000 to $85,000 range, a former consolidation zone, is the first critical area that bulls must defend.

In a bullish scenario, sustained buying pressure could clear the $87,400 resistance, paving the way for a test of $87,570. A base case scenario suggests Bitcoin will trade sideways between the breakout area and resistance as traders await new catalysts. A decisive drop below $82,000 would invalidate the breakout and bring lower support levels back into focus.

The September jobs report, which indicated only 29,000 new payroll additions and an unemployment rate of 4.2%, was interpreted by markets as a signal of reduced near-term interest rate pressure, a positive development for risk assets. However, the question remains whether a single softer data point is sufficient to sustain this upward momentum.

The outlook for Bitcoin’s price in October highlights key resistance levels and potential event risks to monitor. For the time being, the charts suggest a need for confirmation rather than assumption.

Strive’s recent purchase and Strategy’s reported gains underscore the growing trend of corporate Bitcoin adoption. Nevertheless, these figures do not establish a definitive price floor. While treasury demand can bolster sentiment, Bitcoin remains susceptible to macroeconomic repricing and profit-taking near resistance levels. With the spot price hovering near $86,000, the potential for further upside may appear more incremental than early-stage investors anticipate.

Bitcoin Hyper: A New Layer 2 Solution

Positioning itself within the gap between established asset exposure and infrastructure investments is Bitcoin Hyper. This project claims to be the first Bitcoin Layer 2 solution to integrate with the Solana Virtual Machine (SVM). Its objective is to introduce fast smart contract capabilities and low-cost transaction execution to the Bitcoin network, while preserving its inherent security and trust model. Key features include low-latency processing and a decentralized canonical bridge for Bitcoin transfers.

The presale price for Bitcoin Hyper is set at $0.0136872. The project has reportedly raised $33.1 million to date and continues to grow. Staking offers are available with a high annual percentage yield (APY) of 30%, exclusively for early buyers. Investors are encouraged to research Bitcoin Hyper before the early buying window closes.

Bitcoin Surges to $86K, Ethereum Hits $2722 Amid $194M Liquidations, Fear Returns

Bitcoin (BTC) dipped to $85,938 on October 6, marking a 0.8% decrease over 24 hours. Ethereum (ETH) followed suit, trading at $2,719, down 0.3%. The Crypto Fear and Greed Index rebounded to 73 after a period of low volatility, remaining in the “Greed” territory. Across the network, $194 million in leveraged positions were liquidated in the past 24 hours, affecting 64,543 traders. Meanwhile, the US Nasdaq stock index reached a new all-time high driven by strong AI stocks, though Treasury yields surged to their highest levels since 2002.

    Market Overview

Bitcoin (BTC) was trading at $85,938 on Binance on October 6, a 0.8% decline from the previous day. The cryptocurrency saw a high of $86,999 and a low of $84,972 within the 24-hour period. Ethereum (ETH) also experienced a downturn, trading at $2,719, down 0.3%, with its trading range between $2,738 and $2,679. The Crypto Fear and Greed Index climbed back to 73 after two consecutive days of subdued fluctuations, indicating continued market greed. Over the past 24 hours, $194 million in leveraged crypto positions were liquidated across the network, resulting in the liquidation of 64,543 traders.

    Liquidation Data

According to data from CoinGlass, total liquidations across the crypto market in the last 24 hours amounted to $194 million. Long positions accounted for $114 million of this total, while short positions comprised $80.65 million. The largest single liquidation occurred on Binance for the BTCUSDT contract, valued at $11.85 million.

US Market Performance and Economic Indicators

US stocks closed higher on Monday, October 5, with the Nasdaq Composite reaching a new record high, buoyed by the strength of AI-related stocks. The S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average also saw gains. Non-farm payrolls in September increased by only 29,000, falling short of the expected 90,000, and the unemployment rate rose to 4.2%. This data has tempered expectations for an imminent Federal Reserve interest rate hike. However, the 10-year Treasury yield surged to its highest point since 2002. Semiconductor stocks showed resilience, with Micron reporting better-than-expected earnings and Nvidia announcing its largest-ever share buyback program, bolstering market confidence.

    Altcoin Performance

Solana (SOL) was trading at $121.08, a slight decrease of 0.17%, showing minimal change. XRP also followed the broader market trend, falling 0.8% to $1.5105. Major altcoins experienced minor declines, with no significant standout performers in the broader altcoin market.

    Bitcoin Technical Analysis

Based on its UTC closing price of $85,767 on October 5, Bitcoin’s 14-day Relative Strength Index (RSI14) stood at 64.6, indicating a strong upward momentum. The 20-day Simple Moving Average (SMA20) at $83,391 was above the SMA50 ($79,505) and SMA200 ($71,618), showing a healthy upward trend with normal moving average alignment. The MACD (12,26,9) indicator displayed a bearish crossover (DIF below DEA), with the histogram widening, suggesting increasing bearish momentum. The 20-day Bollinger Bands showed the closing price above the middle band of $83,391. Key resistance levels are identified at the 30-day high of $87,396 and the upper Bollinger Band at $89,051. Support levels are located at the SMA20 ($83,391), SMA50 ($79,505), and the lower Bollinger Band ($77,730).

    Ethereum Technical Analysis

With a closing price of $2,710, Ethereum’s 14-day RSI was 61.5, also suggesting a strong upward trend. The SMA20 ($2,664) was above the SMA50 ($2,518) and SMA200 ($2,122), with the closing price trading above the SMA20. The MACD indicator also showed a bearish crossover with widening histogram bars, indicating increasing bearish momentum. The closing price was above the middle band of the 20-day Bollinger Bands at $2,664. Resistance levels are at the 30-day high of $2,807 and the upper Bollinger Band at $2,835. Support levels are at the SMA20 ($2,664), SMA50 ($2,518), and the lower Bollinger Band ($2,494).

    Market Sentiment and Outlook

The Crypto Fear and Greed Index has fluctuated between 65 and 74 over the past eight days (September 29 to October 6), with a rebound to 73 on October 6, suggesting a slight easing of market caution. The simultaneous surge in US stocks to new highs and the steep rise in Treasury yields present conflicting market forces. Bitcoin appears to be trading within a short-term range between the resistance level of $87,396 and the support at the SMA20 of $83,391. The upcoming Federal Reserve October meeting minutes will be a crucial signal for future interest rate policy.

CFTC Chair: Commodity Exchange Act Covers Bitcoin

CFTC Chief Argues Existing Law Sufficient for Crypto Regulation

Washington D.C. – While Congress has grappled for years with how to regulate the burgeoning cryptocurrency market, the head of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) asserted on October 5, 2026, that existing legislation is already adequate. CFTC Chairman Michael S. Selig stated that the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA) has proven effective, and its broad definition of a commodity sufficiently encompasses Bitcoin and the broader digital asset landscape.

This stance comes as the agency simultaneously unveiled an initial plan for two new rulebooks targeting leveraged cryptocurrency trading platforms.

Selig articulated his core argument during a keynote address at the Fordham Law Blockchain Regulatory Symposium in New York. He emphasized that the CEA’s expansive definition of commodities naturally includes digital assets. He also highlighted Bitcoin’s established history under the act, noting its classification as a commodity in 2014 paved the way for regulated Bitcoin futures trading in subsequent years. Selig further invoked the “Lindy effect” to discuss Bitcoin, a concept suggesting that the longer something has endured, the greater its likelihood of continued survival.

CFTC Proposes New Rulebooks for Crypto Trading

In conjunction with Selig’s remarks, the CFTC released an advance notice of proposed rulemaking for two new regulations: Regulation Crypto Asset Transactions (CTX) and Regulation Crypto Asset Markets (CAM). An advance notice represents the earliest formal stage in the rulemaking process, signaling the agency’s considerations and soliciting public feedback before drafting definitive rules.

The proposed regulations aim to establish a new registration category termed a “crypto asset market.” This initiative seeks to enhance federal oversight of platforms offering leveraged trading in digital assets. Crucially, these platforms would continue to operate under the existing statutory framework, rather than a completely new legal regime. Proposed safeguards include requirements for proof-of-reserves and measures to combat market manipulation.

Legislative Efforts Stall, CFTC Turns to Existing Authority

This move by the CFTC occurs against the backdrop of a stalled legislative effort. A recent attempt in the Senate to advance the Digital Asset Market CLARITY Act failed to pass a cloture vote, falling short by a narrow margin of 49-50. Cloture is a procedural vote required to end debate and advance a bill.

With Congress unable to pass comprehensive market structure legislation, the CFTC is leveraging its authority under the CEA. Selig’s speech served as a foundational legal and philosophical justification for this approach. The 2014 precedent, which established Bitcoin as a commodity, lends significant weight to this argument. With Bitcoin futures having traded under CFTC supervision for years, Selig is positioning the new proposals as a natural extension of this established track record, rather than a departure into uncharted regulatory territory.

For leveraged crypto trading venues, these proposals suggest a clearer, albeit potentially more stringent, pathway for operating within the United States. The creation of a dedicated “crypto asset market” registration would provide these platforms with a defined regulatory category.

    Challenges and Future Outlook

However, significant caveats remain. An advance notice is not a final rule, and the specifics of CTX and CAM could undergo substantial changes following public comment. Furthermore, the durability of rules based on agency interpretation of existing statutes can be subject to legal challenges, unlike legislation enacted by Congress. A future Congress could still introduce market structure legislation that alters or supersedes the CFTC’s current initiatives. The close vote on the CLARITY Act indicates that the broader debate over crypto regulation is far from settled.

Key developments to monitor include the public comment period on the advance notice, the response of exchanges to the proposed registration category, and any potential regrouping by Senate supporters of the CLARITY Act for future legislative attempts.

VanEck BNB ETF Sees $97M Inflow Friday Amid Quieter Market

VanEck BNB ETF Sees Significant Inflow, First Major Boost Since Launch

The VanEck BNB ETF experienced a substantial influx of $97 million on Friday, marking its most significant inflow since its debut in the U.S. earlier this year, according to data from VanEck.

VBNB: A New Entrant in Spot Crypto ETFs

Trading under the ticker VBNB, the exchange-traded fund (ETF) launched on May 28, 2026. It was established as the first spot ETF in the U.S. to offer direct exposure to BNB, the native cryptocurrency of the BNB Chain. The “spot” designation signifies that the fund holds actual BNB tokens, rather than futures contracts based on its price. Investors purchasing shares are effectively investing in real tokens held by a custodian on their behalf.

    Fund Structure and Early Performance

The ETF carries a sponsor fee of 0.39%. Initially, Anchorage Digital Bank served as the custodian for the fund’s assets. As of early October 2026, VBNB’s assets under management were reported to be between $2.3 million and $2.7 million. The $97 million single-day inflow represents a dramatic increase, dwarfing the fund’s existing asset base multiple times over. Prior to this surge, daily trading volume for VBNB had been modest, with one instance showing approximately $13,800 in volume.

    Verification and Custodial Enhancements

Data from Glassnode indicated zero net flows for VBNB as of October 2, 2026. The reported $97 million inflow has not yet been independently verified by major reporting agencies. In response to evolving needs, VanEck has expanded its custody arrangements, adding BitGo as a second custodian to work alongside Anchorage.

Introduction of Staking and Updated Objectives

Further amendments to the fund’s custody agreement, dated September 25, 2026, saw VanEck appoint Figment as a staking validator for the ETF. Assets designated for staking will incur a 4% fee on the staked holdings. VanEck has also updated the fund’s objectives, positioning staking as a secondary goal, with the primary objective remaining to track the spot price of BNB.

Network Activity and ETF Performance Disconnect

VanEck has highlighted the robust activity on the BNB Chain, citing approximately 33 million monthly active users and 2.1 million daily active users. The network also generates an estimated $160 million in annual revenue and exhibits significant stablecoin trading. Despite this on-chain activity, it had not previously translated into substantial inflows for the VBNB ETF. In recent weeks, other altcoin ETFs have experienced notable inflows, a trend that VBNB’s data had not mirrored until Friday’s reported surge.

    Future Outlook for VBNB

The 4% fee associated with staked assets is expected to reduce any staking rewards distributed to shareholders. Investors will be closely monitoring whether on-chain data trackers like Glassnode begin to reflect the reported inflow, if the ETF’s assets under management surpass their early October levels, and how the introduction of staking impacts the fund’s overall appeal once fully operational.

  • Bitcoin ETFs Show Sustained Inflows Amid Sharp Slowdown

Bitcoin ETFs Show Sustained Inflows Amid Sharp Slowdown

U.S. Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have maintained positive net inflows for a third consecutive week, attracting $241.08 million in the week ending October 2nd. This sustained interest, however, is occurring alongside a significant deceleration in the pace of new investment, suggesting a more complex investor sentiment.

The latest data reveals a sharp slowdown, with inflows dropping by approximately 90% compared to the previous period. This marks a considerable shift from earlier weeks, when institutional money entered Bitcoin ETFs at a much higher rate, with the preceding period seeing approximately $2.39 billion invested.

Despite this deceleration, the three-week streak of net positive flows indicates that while the initial surge may have abated, a baseline level of demand persists. This presents a nuanced picture: continued capital allocation is tempered by a reduced rate of new investment, making the overall signal ambiguous.

Blackrock was noted as adding $450 million during the week ending October 2nd, contributing to the overall inflows. This specific contribution, while substantial, is part of a broader trend characterized by a marked decrease in the overall speed of investment.

The current data offers an ambiguous signal regarding investor sentiment. The persistence of inflows suggests investors are not exiting the market, but the sharp reduction in the rate of new capital entering ETFs points towards increased selectivity or a wait-and-see approach. Interpreting this combination of factors definitively remains challenging, but it suggests a market where caution is beginning to temper enthusiasm.

This situation highlights the inherent uncertainty in interpreting market signals. While the streak of positive inflows is a factual observation, the significant slowdown complicates any straightforward interpretation of investor behavior. The data does not provide a clear indication of a market surge or decline, but rather a period of adjustment and potentially more discerning investment strategies.

Tokenized Asset Market Surges to $349.2B, Led by Ethereum

Tokenized Asset Market Hits $349 Billion, Dominated by Ethereum and Tron

The global market for tokenized assets has reached a valuation of $349.2 billion, spread across 50 tracked blockchains. However, this substantial figure masks a significant concentration of power, with Ethereum and Tron collectively controlling 80.2% of the total market share.

Ethereum stands as the dominant force, boasting $185.8 billion in tokenized assets and commanding a 53.2% market share. Tron follows closely behind, holding $94.2 billion, which equates to 27% of the market. Together, these two networks far outpace their competitors.

Solana occupies the third position with $18.2 billion, representing a 5.2% share. BNB Chain accounts for 2.6% of the market. Other notable players include HyperEVM, Base, and Arbitrum One, with market shares of 2%, 1.5%, and 1.3%, respectively, painting a picture far from a evenly distributed multichain landscape.

Beneath the headline valuation, the market shows signs of broader engagement. The number of tokenized asset holders has climbed to 315.5 million, marking a 3.3% increase over the past 30 days and an 11.2% rise over 90 days.

Decentralized finance (DeFi) activity also appears robust, with $28.7 billion locked in DeFi protocols, representing 8.2% of all tokenized assets. Total Value Locked (TVL) in DeFi has seen a 7.8% increase over 30 days and a significant 26.7% surge over 90 days.

In contrast, the 24-hour decentralized exchange (DEX) volume tells a different story, standing at $3.5 billion. This figure indicates a decline, with trading volume down 58.2% over 30 days and 28.4% over 90 days.

Perhaps the most intriguing developments are emerging from smaller networks. Arc has seen a substantial inflow of $508.3 million in the last 30 days, closely followed by Tempo with $501 million and HyperEVM with $500.5 million. While these gains do not challenge Ethereum’s overwhelming dominance, they highlight areas where fresh capital is being deployed within the tokenized asset market. Ethereum continues to be the undisputed leader, but newer execution environments are demonstrating notable short-term growth.

Ethereum Staking Exit Queue Hits Year High; MetaMask Pulls 17,000 Validators

Ethereum Staking Exit Queue Hits New Highs, 851,000 ETH Stuck in Withdrawal Process

The queue for withdrawing staked Ether (ETH) on the Ethereum network has surged fivefold in just three days, reaching its longest point since 2026. As of October 2nd, approximately 851,000 ETH, representing 2% of the total 43.6 million staked ETH, were caught in the withdrawal process. This surge is primarily attributed to a security incident involving MetaMask.

Analysis of Validator Queue data reveals a dramatic increase from 166,000 ETH awaiting withdrawal on September 29th to 851,000 ETH by October 2nd. This figure significantly surpasses the 476,000 ETH seen in May of this year.

By early Monday morning in Asia, around 786,000 ETH, valued at over $2 billion, remained in the queue, with an estimated waiting time of 14 days. Ethereum’s design intentionally limits the speed of validator entry and exit to approximately 57,600 ETH per day to mitigate security risks. Large-scale movements of funds, therefore, inevitably lead to a backlog.

The primary driver of this withdrawal wave is MetaMask, a prominent cryptocurrency wallet provider that also operates as a validator for Lido, a leading liquid staking protocol. MetaMask disclosed a security incident on September 30th, prompting the immediate withdrawal of affected validators from its services.

Ethereum security researcher Kaden estimates that this precautionary withdrawal involved approximately 17,000 validators, totaling around 523,000 ETH. MetaMask has not yet officially confirmed this figure.

An update on October 1st offered some relief: MetaMask’s investigation found no evidence of compromise to wallets or customer funds. This suggests the withdrawal surge was largely a “better safe than sorry” defensive measure rather than a direct result of theft.

Lido anticipates that the affected ETH will be gradually withdrawn, balances settled, and then re-staked. This entire process is expected to take up to 45 days, during which the affected validators will forfeit their earned rewards.

Lido has explicitly stated that “stETH holders do not need to take any action.” stETH is a token issued by Lido representing users’ staked ETH. Lido projects that the last batch of affected MetaMask validators will cease staking on October 7th, after which their ETH will re-enter the queue to begin staking anew.

Meanwhile, the queue for initiating new staking deposits has shown signs of cooling. On Monday, approximately 1.5 million ETH (about $4 billion) were waiting to be staked, with an estimated wait time of 25 days. This demand has noticeably slowed compared to early September, when 2 million ETH were waiting for 35 days.

This slowdown in new staking demand may reflect a more cautious short-term market outlook for Ethereum or institutional capital awaiting clearer market signals.

The current situation highlights a bottleneck in Ethereum’s staking withdrawal mechanism. While the daily limit of 57,600 ETH is designed to maintain network stability under normal conditions, it creates lengthy queues when large operators withdraw en masse. The 14-day wait for 786,000 ETH not only results in lost revenue for operators but could also lead to market volatility due to a significant amount of liquidity being temporarily “locked.”

Proposals such as EIP-6110, which would allow builder bid rewards to be sent directly to validator withdrawal addresses, and future optimizations to the withdrawal mechanism, could potentially address these issues. However, if Ethereum aims to attract more institutional capital into staking, maintaining liquidity and fairness during large capital inflows and outflows will be a critical design challenge.

Bitcoin ETFs See Third Week of Inflows; Ether ETFs Experience Outflows

US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have attracted $241.1 million in net inflows for a third consecutive week, while Ether ETFs experienced $138 million in net outflows during the same period, according to SoSoValue data.

Bitcoin ETFs have now recorded positive net inflows for three consecutive weeks. In the two preceding weeks, these funds attracted $2.4 billion and $6.2 million, respectively. Year-to-date, net inflows for Bitcoin ETFs stand at approximately $1.2 billion.
