Pi Network Enhances SoloHost Accessibility and Security with Latest Update
Pi Network has rolled out a significant upgrade for its users, known as Pioneers, aimed at simplifying the recently introduced SoloHost feature and bolstering security for applications running on Pi Desktop. This latest development is part of a broader initiative to expand Pi’s extensive Node ecosystem beyond its foundational blockchain infrastructure.
The Pi Core Team announced the release of Pi Desktop version 0.6.4 over the weekend. The most notable change focuses on improving remote access to SoloHost applications. Previously, Pioneers wishing to access locally hosted applications on their mobile devices often had to reconfigure their home routers, including network settings. The new version eliminates this technical barrier.
Pi Desktop can now autonomously establish remote connections, enabling users to access supported applications running on their computers via the Pi Browser on their smartphones. This means users no longer need to manually open ports or alter their router configurations, with remote access remaining an optional feature.
The update also introduces enhanced protection for SoloHost. Before an application is installed and each time it launches, the system will verify if the application is restricted to accessing only its own files and network resources.
According to the development team, these security checks are designed to mitigate the risk of a SoloHost application accessing unrelated files on a user’s computer, data belonging to other applications, or the Pi Node itself. Developers are required to perform these checks when initially publishing an application. The preceding desktop version, 0.6.3, was released in early September.
A recent blog post also confirmed that Pi Network successfully completed its upgrade to Protocol 28 on October 16. This upgrade is expected to improve the network’s management of delayed transaction data and provide developers with greater flexibility in maintaining and updating smart contracts.
In line with broader market trends, Pi Network’s native token encountered resistance at its key $0.08 level earlier this week. As of press time, the token had fallen to $0.076, marking a 2.7% decrease over the past 24 hours. It is also down by over 6% from its Wednesday peak of nearly $0.081. Unfortunately for optimistic investors, PI remains more than 97% below its all-time high of almost $3, which was recorded in late February 2025.
Conversely, its recent downturn has placed PI just 7% above its all-time low of $0.07072, as recorded on CoinMarketCap three months ago. PI’s market capitalization has consequently fallen well below $900 million.
