XRP ETFs Continue Inflows for Eighth Week, But Signs of Softening Demand Emerge

Spot XRP Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) have achieved their eighth consecutive week of net inflows, attracting approximately $19 million in the last full week of August. Despite this sustained positive trend, recent data suggests potential signs of waning demand, including a notable absence of inflows on a recent Friday.

    Sustained Inflows Amidst Emerging Concerns
The cumulative total net inflows for XRP ETFs have reached an all-time high of $1.68 billion. However, the inflows for the last full week of August, while positive, were lower than the previous week’s figures. Further signs of a slowdown appeared on Wednesday of the previous business week, which saw outflows totaling $7.20 million. This marked the first ‘red day’ for Ripple ETFs since August 5, breaking a near one-month streak of net inflows. While Thursday saw a return of inflows amounting to $6.14 million, Friday recorded zero inflows, according to data from SoSoValue.

This pattern of reduced inflows and a no-inflow day has reignited discussions about the underlying demand for XRP ETFs, a concern that had been less prominent during previous weeks of consistent positive flows. Before a market-wide revival experienced after August 19, August saw seven ‘no-reportable flow’ days out of 11 trading days for spot XRP ETFs.

XRP Price Action and Analyst Outlook
In parallel with the ETF performance, the price of XRP has experienced some volatility. The asset dipped below the key support level of $1.40 last weekend and further declined to $1.33 earlier this week. However, XRP showed resilience, recovering to $1.45 on Friday and trading at $1.41 as of press time. This price action indicates that XRP remains above its crucial $1.40 support level.

Despite the recent fluctuations and concerns about demand, some analysts maintain a bullish outlook on XRP, suggesting that its bull phase may have commenced. Analysts such as Ali Martinez and EGRAG CRYPTO have outlined ambitious price targets for XRP, projecting potential figures of up to $60 by the culmination of the current bull market. However, these projections are subject to significant uncertainty and should be viewed as speculative.

    Conclusion
The current situation presents a mixed picture for XRP. The sustained inflow trend into its ETFs is a positive indicator, contributing to a substantial cumulative net inflow. Nevertheless, the recent dip in daily inflows and the occurrence of outflows and zero-flow days warrant attention as potential indicators of softening investor interest. The ability of XRP’s price to hold above the $1.40 support level will be a key factor to monitor in the coming period, alongside future ETF flow data.

  • ZEC Hits $1,200: Surge Explained

    ZEC Hits $1,200: Surge Explained

Zcash Surges Past $1,200, Rebounding Sharply After Privacy Vulnerability Scare

Just three months ago, Zcash (ZEC) was engulfed in fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD) following the disclosure of a vulnerability in its Orchard privacy pool. The incident raised uncomfortable questions about the security of the privacy-focused cryptocurrency. However, the situation has dramatically reversed, with the protocol patching the issue and Zcash emerging as a top performer among large-cap altcoins in the past quarter.

    From Vulnerability to Recovery

The vulnerability was initially revealed by Zcash founder Zooko Wilcox and members of Shielded Labs. They explained that a hacker could have exploited the weakness to create an unlimited supply of fake ZEC within Orchard, Zcash’s shielded transaction layer, without immediate detection. Although the flaw was rectified by the time of the public announcement, the news prompted some prominent figures, including Arthur Hayes, to divest their holdings, citing concerns about potential future risks.

The immediate impact on Zcash’s native token was significant. The asset, trading at $650 prior to the disclosure, plummeted by 60% to $260 within approximately 24 hours as FUD spread.

    A Meteoric Rise

The trend for the privacy coin began to reverse thereafter. Zcash stabilized around the $500 mark, where it remained for the subsequent two months. A substantial upward movement commenced with a market-wide breakout on August 19, propelling the price to $900. While other cryptocurrencies saw their gains stall, ZEC continued its ascent, briefly surpassing $1,200 earlier today for the first time in nearly a decade.

This remarkable surge represents a 370% increase from its early June low. Zcash’s market capitalization now exceeds $20 billion, positioning it ahead of HYPE and DOGE.

    Market Reactions and Analyst Outlook

Data from CoinGlass indicates that ZEC’s impressive surge over the past 24 hours has led to $46 million in short liquidations, the highest across all cryptocurrencies.

Shortly after the mid-August rally began, Grayscale launched its Zcash ETF on August 25, which has already attracted $34.4 million in net inflows.

“The bigger question isn’t whether Zcash can keep going up. It’s whether the ETF era is creating a new pathway for capital to rotate into crypto assets that were previously overlooked. ZEC may be an early test of that thesis,” commented The Wolf of All Streets.

Meanwhile, Ted Pillows noted that a significant whale has been dollar-cost averaging (DCA) into ZEC between 2022 and 2024, accumulating 22,840 ZEC for approximately $1.1 million. This position had grown to $23 million by today, when the whale transferred the entire amount to Binance, potentially to realize profits.

Crypto Patel offered an optimistic outlook on ZEC’s price potential, identifying a “Beautiful Cup & Handle Pattern” on the weekly chart. He suggested that the asset’s break above the pattern’s neckline/resistance could signal another substantial surge, potentially reaching $2,200.

As Per $ZEC Chart, you can see a Beautiful Cup & Handle Pattern formed on the Weekly Timeframe. @Zcash has already broken the Neckline/Resistance of this pattern, and if the pattern follows the 100% target, the target could be around $2,200.

Pencil Finance Completes $1 Million On-Chain Student Loan Cycle

Pencil Finance, a project incubated by Animoca Brands, announced it has successfully completed a $1 million student loan cycle entirely on the blockchain. The process encompassed raising investor capital, tracking loan repayments, and ultimately returning funds to investors with accrued yield.

The loans were originated by education financing firm ErudiFi. Pencil Finance, a decentralized lending protocol, then tokenized these loans into an on-chain private credit investment. This allowed funders to provide capital and monitor the repayment process through transparent blockchain records.

Pencil Finance has described this as the first fully on-chain student lending cycle, a claim that could not be independently verified. The investment bundle was funded in July 2025 by Animoca Brands, Open Campus, and NewCampus.

“The protocol deployed loans in the aggregate amount of US$1 million to borrowers, serviced through repayments, and returned the capital to the bundle’s funders with yield, with every step recorded transparently on blockchain,” Animoca Brands stated on the social media platform X.

The protocol operates on EDU Chain, an Ethereum-based network designed for education and built using Arbitrum Orbit technology. Pencil Finance was co-incubated by Animoca Brands and the developer community HackQuest.

ErudiFi utilized the majority of the capital for student loans and tuition financing across Southeast Asia, with a significant focus on Indonesia and the Philippines. According to ErudiFi, the funds supported loans for over 6,600 students across 118 educational institutions over a 12-month period. Approximately 1,050 of these students received funding directly facilitated by Pencil Finance.

Investors in the initiative were structured into two tranches. A senior tranche offered fixed returns and priority for repayment, while a junior tranche provided variable returns and was designed to absorb initial losses in the event of defaults.

ErudiFi reports that across its entire loan portfolio, half of the borrowers are women, 93% originate from lower-income households, and 52% are accessing formal credit for the first time.

“Education lenders in emerging markets are creditworthy but invisible. Global capital can’t verify their performance, so it never reaches them,” said Frank Li, co-founder of Pencil Finance, in a statement. “Putting the lending cycle on-chain changes that: every repayment is recorded and auditable by anyone, in real time. This bundle built a public track record that makes the next bundle easier to fund.”

  • CLARITY Act Faces Scheduling Setbacks, Passage Probability Reduced

CLARITY Act Faces Scheduling Setbacks, Passage Probability Reduced

The CLARITY Act, a bill concerning crypto market structure, is facing significant legislative uncertainty due to recent scheduling setbacks, which have reduced its prospects for passage. This development occurs despite a notable shift in stance from the National Sheriffs’ Association (NSA).

The CLARITY Act was originally scheduled for a Senate floor test on September 15. However, scheduling conflicts have jeopardized this timeline. Further complicating matters, House Republican leaders have canceled voting sessions that were planned for the weeks of September 21 and 28. With the House now set to depart Washington on September 17, the legislative calendar offers limited opportunities for action before the November midterm elections.

In a development that could influence the bill’s trajectory, the National Sheriffs’ Association (NSA) has transitioned from an oppositional stance to a neutral one regarding the CLARITY Act. Previously, the NSA had voiced concerns that the bill might hinder efforts to combat illicit finance involving digital assets. According to the article, the NSA stated its belief that the appropriate course is to step back and allow the legislative process to continue, acknowledging the bill’s complexity and ongoing negotiations. While this shift does not equate to support for the legislation, it removes a potential source of pressure on senators who might otherwise be hesitant to advance the bill. The article suggests this change could potentially ease concerns for some Senate Democrats whose votes are crucial for the bill’s progress.

Despite the NSA’s neutral stance, the legislative calendar presents substantial obstacles. The cancellation of House voting sessions and the impending departure of lawmakers mean that any necessary Senate negotiations are unlikely to conclude before the November midterms. This situation makes a post-election lame-duck session an increasingly realistic, though not guaranteed, path for the legislation, should it manage to clear the Senate.

Expert assessments reflect the growing uncertainty surrounding the CLARITY Act’s future. Galaxy Research recently revised its estimated probability of the bill becoming law in 2026 downward from 50% to 30%, following the Senate’s failure to vote on it before the August recess. Prediction markets are even less optimistic, with current odds of passage reportedly falling below 20%.

To advance the CLARITY Act in the Senate, a cloture vote motion, filed by Senate Majority Leader John Thune in early August, requires 60 senators to limit debate and move the bill toward formal consideration. Given that Republicans hold 53 Senate seats, bipartisan support is essential for this procedural step. The current legislative calendar, however, leaves minimal opportunity for the necessary negotiations and votes to occur before the November elections.

The future of the CLARITY Act remains uncertain, contingent on overcoming procedural hurdles and navigating a compressed legislative timeline. The shift in the NSA’s position offers a potential, albeit minor, facilitation for Democratic support, but the overarching challenges posed by scheduling conflicts and the approaching midterms significantly temper expectations for its passage in the near term.

    Why This Matters

The CLARITY Act faces a scheduling setback that jeopardizes its passage, despite a shift in the National Sheriffs’ Association’s stance from opposition to neutral. The ultimate passage of the CLARITY Act by the Senate remains uncertain.

    Broader Context

Source materials place the factual news in this context: The CLARITY Act received a potentially important boost ahead of its first Senate floor test, which was supposed to take place on September 15, but another scheduling setback is further threatening its chances of becoming law this year.

  • Bitcoin Remains Resilient Near $80,000 Amidst Geopolitical and Economic Headwinds

Bitcoin Remains Resilient Near $80,000 Amidst Geopolitical and Economic Headwinds

Bitcoin has demonstrated notable resilience, maintaining its price level near $80,000 despite a confluence of negative economic and geopolitical factors. This stability occurs against a backdrop of escalating tensions in the Middle East, hawkish commentary from the US Federal Reserve, and stronger-than-expected US jobs data, conditions typically associated with a downturn for risk assets.

    Conflicting Market Pressures

The cryptocurrency’s ability to hold its ground is occurring despite significant external pressures. Geopolitical developments, including exchanges of attacks between the US and Iran, have raised concerns about energy supplies, pushing Brent crude prices toward $100 per barrel. According to the article, such price increases can contribute to inflation, complicating the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy decisions. Adding to this complexity, Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh adopted a hawkish tone, emphasizing persistent inflation and the possibility of further action.

Economic indicators have also presented challenges. The US economy added 162,000 jobs in August, a figure significantly higher than the 56,000 expected, while the unemployment rate held steady at 4.1%. While positive for the economy, robust job growth can diminish expectations for easier monetary policy, a factor that typically weighs on risk-on assets like Bitcoin. Following these developments, the odds for a September rate hike by the Federal Reserve peaked at 65%, and the two-year Treasury yield reached its highest level since January 2025.

    Underlying Support and Future Uncertainties

Despite an initial drop of approximately $3,000, Bitcoin has rebounded and shown a monthly gain of around 25%. A significant contributing factor to this resilience appears to be the sustained inflows into Bitcoin Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). On a recent Thursday, these ETFs saw inflows exceeding $730 million, marking the highest single-day level since January. This strong demand from institutional investors provides a counter-balance to the bearish macroeconomic signals.

In contrast, gold, often seen as a safe-haven asset, has relinquished a considerable portion of its gains from a mid-August rally, highlighting Bitcoin’s relative strength in the current environment. However, this resilience does not preclude future volatility. Several key events in the coming days could influence Bitcoin’s trajectory.

Upcoming economic data, particularly the Consumer Price Index (CPI) report scheduled for September 11, poses a potential challenge. A hotter-than-expected inflation reading, especially in light of rising oil prices, could further increase expectations for a Federal Reserve rate hike. This may be followed by the conclusion of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting on September 16. An interest rate increase, coupled with hawkish guidance from the Fed, could potentially pressure Bitcoin’s key support levels.

Uncertainty remains regarding Bitcoin’s ability to decisively break above the $80,000 level and the precise impact of ongoing geopolitical events on inflation. The Federal Reserve’s future interest rate decisions and the outcomes of the upcoming CPI data and FOMC meeting are critical factors to monitor. While Bitcoin has shown strength, its sustained price levels are subject to these evolving economic and geopolitical dynamics.

    Why This Matters

The materials describe a narrow update: Bitcoin has shown strength by maintaining its price near $80,000 despite geopolitical tensions between the US and Iran, hawkish signals from the Federal Reserve, and stronger-than-expected US jobs data. Fed Rate Hike Threatens XRP: ChatGPT Predicts Steep Price Drop

Fed Rate Hike Fears Loom Over XRP, ChatGPT Predicts Sharp Decline

The U.S. financial landscape has undergone a significant shift in recent days, driven by a hawkish stance from Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh and a robust U.S. jobs report released last Friday. These developments have altered market expectations, with investors and analysts now factoring in a potential interest rate hike at the upcoming Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting on September 15-16.

Following an analysis of how this could impact Bitcoin, attention has turned to XRP, a digital asset whose situation has been described by ChatGPT as “arguably more interesting than bitcoin’s.”

With prediction markets now showing over a 50% probability of a September rate hike, risk-on assets are facing clear headwinds. This was evident on Friday, when Bitcoin briefly dropped by $3,000 and XRP fell from $1.45 to below $1.40, where it found initial support.

ChatGPT has projected that XRP, a token designed for cross-border transactions, could react “more violently to a Fed hike,” despite having two potential mitigating factors: strong demand for exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and the ongoing CLARITY Act process. The AI model anticipates an initial decline of 4%-8% following a 25 basis point rate increase on September 16, which would translate to a drop below $1.30 from current levels.

The situation could further deteriorate in the subsequent days and weeks, with $1.20 emerging as the next significant support level. Should Chairman Warsh adopt an even more aggressive tone in his post-FOMC meeting remarks, XRP could “fall further toward $1.05-$1.15.”

One of the aforementioned mitigating factors, the CLARITY Act, has seen little tangible progress recently. Its vote, initially scheduled for early August and then delayed, is now uncertain for its September date, which falls just one day before the FOMC meeting concludes. This lack of progress could leave XRP more vulnerable to a steeper decline in the event of a rate hike.

However, ChatGPT identifies the potential for spot XRP ETFs as a silver lining. These instruments have demonstrated resilience even amidst market volatility and have seen improved performance following the August rally. If the Federal Reserve signals no immediate follow-up rate hikes and ETF demand remains robust, XRP could experience a swift recovery after the initial shock.

In such a scenario, the $1.50-$1.60 range would become a key target, as this level has previously capped several of XRP’s breakout attempts. Conversely, if the Fed were to surprise the market with a 50 basis point rate increase and Chairman Warsh adopts a highly hawkish stance, the altcoin’s outlook could rapidly worsen, with a potential descent to and even below $1.00, according to ChatGPT’s warnings.

  • BIS Explores XRP Ledger for Anchoring Official Statistics in Proof-of-Concept

BIS Explores XRP Ledger for Anchoring Official Statistics in Proof-of-Concept

The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has conducted an experimental proof-of-concept test using the XRP Ledger (XRPL) to anchor cryptographic fingerprints of official statistics on-chain, according to a BIS working paper. This initiative explored how statistical agencies could provide an independent method for users to verify the origin and integrity of published data without altering existing dissemination systems.

The BIS working paper, No 1374, details a system that hashes datasets formatted according to standards like SDMX and Canonical XML 1.1, using algorithms such as SHA3-512. These cryptographic fingerprints are then recorded on the XRPL’s DevNet. A summary Merkle root of these hashes is written to the Memos field of an XRPL Payment transaction, ensuring confidential data remains off-ledger.

    Technical Approach and Benefits

The authors state that this approach bypasses the need for smart contracts, thereby avoiding associated gas costs and contract risks. The XRPL’s low base fee of 10 drops (0.00001 XRP) makes anchoring data on-chain nearly free. The paper notes that a single ledger entry can encompass thousands of datasets, reducing the on-chain cost per dataset to a fraction of a cent. File headers also incorporate W3C Verifiable Credentials, signed by the publisher, to enhance authenticity.

According to the BIS working paper, recording these cryptographic fingerprints takes approximately three to five seconds, with verification completed in one to two seconds. The paper highlights the XRPL’s fast consensus finality and its published technical analysis as beneficial factors for this application.

    Contextualizing the Exploration

This is not the first time the BIS has explored public blockchains. Previously, it conducted Project Mariana, which trialed wholesale central bank digital currency settlement on a public chain involving the central banks of France, Singapore, and Switzerland. The current test utilized XRPL’s DevNet, which mirrors the mainnet’s transaction format and cadence for realistic testing.

The paper also references other institutional uses of the XRP Ledger, including a pilot that linked the ledger to interbank rails with JPMorgan, Mastercard, and Ondo for settling tokenized Treasury bills in under five seconds. Ripple has also published an institutional roadmap for XRPL, focusing on compliance credentials and permissioned trading.

    Limitations and Future Considerations

However, the authors emphasize that this build is an experimental proof-of-concept. They state that a production service would require additional measures, such as hardware-backed signing, pinned validator nodes, and formal load testing. The paper explicitly reaches no adoption decision and gives no endorsement of XRP. The views expressed are those of the authors and do not represent the official stance of the BIS or its member central banks.

    Why This Matters

The materials describe a narrow update: A BIS working paper details a proof-of-concept where the XRP Ledger was used to record cryptographic fingerprints (hashes) of official statistics, allowing for independent verification of data origin and integrity without altering existing dissemination systems. Whether this proof-of-concept will lead to production adoption.

Dogecoin Surges Double Digits, Altcoin Season Begins

Dogecoin Surges to Two-Week High Amid Analyst Optimism

Dogecoin, the largest meme coin by market capitalization, experienced a significant surge on Saturday evening, reaching $0.094 and marking a two-week peak. This upward movement was somewhat unexpected, given the typically subdued trading activity on weekends.

However, preceding the rally were several indicators suggesting a potential price increase. CryptoPotato had previously highlighted three key signals for DOGE, including the TD Sequential indicator, which analysts interpreted as a sign that the original meme coin was poised for further gains.

Despite these predictions, the asset initially faced resistance at $0.088 and subsequently retreated to $0.08 as the broader cryptocurrency market declined. This downturn followed the release of a strong U.S. jobs report, which was perceived as bearish for risk-on assets.

Nevertheless, Dogecoin staged a dramatic comeback on Saturday evening, climbing 12% from its previous day’s low to reach the $0.094 mark. Prominent analyst CW observed that the meme coin encountered its first significant sell wall, which currently appears too formidable to breach. Should it overcome this obstacle, the next major resistance level is anticipated at $0.14.

Another analyst, Alex Marzell, commented that DOGE performed as expected by rebounding from Friday’s lows and reclaiming a crucial resistance level.

Marzell’s analysis, shared via Twitter, stated: “$DOGE did exactly what it needed to. Friday’s jobs print dumped it back to the $0.083 base, six flat 4H candles held it, and today one 4H candle ripped $0.0876 to $0.0952 straight back through $0.088. Old resistance is the new line. Hold $0.088 and I think $0.095 goes next and…”

Max Crypto also acknowledged Dogecoin’s notable price action, suggesting that its breakouts could serve as a leading indicator for the commencement of an altcoin season.

  • Ripple CEO: CLARITY Act Within Reach as XRP Surges

Ripple CEO: CLARITY Act Within Reach as XRP Surges

Ripple’s XRP Token Navigates Volatility Amidst Anticipation of Key Senate Vote

Ripple’s XRP token is currently trading around $1.44, capping a week of significant price swings. The digital asset experienced a sharp rebound from the $1.31 level, briefly touching $1.48. Over the past seven days, XRP has seen gains of approximately 6% to 7%, though profit-taking has prevented it from sustaining its recent peaks. As the market approaches the weekend, investor attention is increasingly fixed on a potential regulatory development expected later this month.

Garlinghouse Fuels Optimism on Regulatory Front

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has provided traders with another compelling reason to monitor the CLARITY Act. In response to comments from CFTC Chairman Michael Selig regarding the administration’s focus on cryptocurrency, Garlinghouse stated, “making America the crypto capital of the world is within reach, let’s finish the job.”

Senate Vote Looms for CLARITY Act

The U.S. Senate is slated to hold a cloture vote on the motion to proceed with the CLARITY Act on September 15 at 2:15 PM ET. This vote is not a final passage vote but rather a procedural step. It requires 60 votes to advance the bill, potentially opening the door for formal Senate debate and further negotiations.

    Regulatory Hopes Meet Market Realities

For XRP, this period of regulatory optimism is unfolding against a backdrop of a market still susceptible to macroeconomic pressures. The CLARITY Act itself continues to be a subject of debate, with disagreements persisting over stablecoin provisions, decentralized finance (DeFi) regulations, ethics clauses, and consumer protection measures. This complex environment places XRP in a position caught between a potentially positive regulatory catalyst and broader market volatility.

    Technical Levels to Watch

XRP’s recent recovery has brought the token back into the $1.40 to $1.48 range, following a significant sell-off that pushed prices into the $1.30s. This rebound has been accompanied by increased trading volume, suggesting that traders are strategically positioning themselves around the anticipated regulatory event rather than simply following momentum.

As the market heads into the weekend, XRP is trading near the midpoint of this range. Key levels to monitor are $1.35 and $1.50. The $1.35 area has emerged as a critical support zone for a bullish outlook. A sustained break below this level could lead to another test of the lower $1.30s, particularly if sentiment surrounding the CLARITY Act weakens. Conversely, a reclaim of the $1.48 to $1.50 zone would bolster the short-term technical setup and could pave the way for a move towards $1.60. Prediction markets indicate significant interest in this $1.60 target, with Coinbase markets pricing a roughly 67% probability of XRP reaching this level in September.

Longer-term projections remain more divided. Current predictions suggest a 41% probability of XRP surpassing $2 in 2026, with approximately 29% likelihood of a move above $2.50. This positions the $2.50 target as a potential bullish scenario rather than a base case. The market is also reflecting considerable uncertainty, with year-end outcomes for XRP spread across the $1.25 to $2.50 range.

The pivotal event remains the Senate’s September 15 cloture vote on the CLARITY Act. Scheduled for 2:15 PM ET, the vote requires 60 votes to advance the legislation toward formal Senate debate. While not a final passage vote, a failure to advance could significantly hinder the bill’s progress this year.

For the immediate weekend trading setup, XRP holding the $1.40 to $1.45 range would indicate a sustained rebound. The $1.50 level represents the first significant upside resistance, while $1.35 remains the key downside support.

  • Ancient Bitcoin Wallet Awakens, Turns $120 Into $3 Million

Ancient Bitcoin Wallet Awakens, Turns $120 Into $3 Million

Ancient Bitcoin Wallets Resurface, Hinting at Potential Sales

A steady stream of long-dormant Bitcoin wallets has continued to reawaken in recent days, with at least four more substantial stashes of the cryptocurrency stirring, one of which appears to be destined for sale.

According to blockchain monitoring by Galaxy Research, these newly active wallets collectively moved 202.84 BTC, valued at approximately $15.73 million, between August 29 and September 4.

The largest of these awakened holdings, containing 146.06 BTC (about $11.31 million), had remained untouched since November 2013, a period of nearly 12.8 years. This move represents a staggering gain of about 12,902% from its original cost basis, which was near $595. Following this was a 40 BTC wallet dormant since November 2011, now worth around $3.09 million. This particular holding saw an astonishing increase of 2,571,899% from an average cost of roughly $3, meaning this patient holder effectively turned approximately $120 into over $3 million by holding onto it for close to 15 years.

Two smaller wallets completed the recent batch: one holding 10 BTC untouched since June 2011, valued at about $777,000, and another with 6.78 BTC last active in February 2011, worth near $551,000. The oldest coins in this group displayed astronomical paper gains, with the 2011-era holdings up more than 2,000% and, in one instance, over 500,000% from their initial purchase price.

This latest flurry of activity extends a trend that has accelerated over the summer. Recent data from Galaxy charts indicates that Bitcoin’s oldest cohort – coins dormant for a decade or more – are stirring at a pace rarely observed. An earlier wave in August saw six wallets move roughly $40 million within a single 10-day period.

Typically, the fate of coins moved from such dormant wallets remains ambiguous, as a simple transfer does not reveal whether the owner intends to sell, consolidate, or shift funds to new custody. However, this latest instance provided a clearer indication from one wallet.

Galaxy tagged the 6.78 BTC transfer with a recipient attribution of Coinbase, suggesting that these decade-old coins were sent to the exchange. Such a move is commonly associated with an intention to sell rather than merely relocating funds.

Several of the reawakened wallets also carried “Noah Doe” sender tags. This designation refers to a New York lawsuit aiming to have thousands of dormant addresses declared abandoned property. Wallets linked to that case have been stirring regularly since a judge paused proceedings in June.

The reasons behind the current surge in activity from these vintage holders remain unclear, but each awakening reignites discussions about the potential return of long-lost Bitcoin supply to the market.
