Standard Chartered Predicts UNI to Hit $100 by 2030

UNI, the governance token for the decentralized exchange Uniswap, has seen a significant surge, climbing by double digits over the past 24 hours to reach a local high of $3.70, its strongest performance in over a month.

As of this report, Uniswap is trading at $3.63, marking a 19.8% increase on the day and a substantial 48.4% gain over the past week, according to data from CoinGecko. This performance has outpaced both Bitcoin and Ethereum. The upward trend has boosted Uniswap’s market capitalization to approximately $2.26 billion, with daily trading volumes nearing $864 million, reflecting a wave of institutional optimism within the decentralized finance (DeFi) sector.

A primary driver for this rally appears to be a research note published Monday by Geoff Kendrick, Standard Chartered’s global head of digital assets. Kendrick projected a target of $100 for UNI by 2030, representing a nearly fortyfold increase, and set a year-end target of $6.50. He argued that traditional finance (TradFi) should perceive Uniswap not merely as a retail decentralized exchange (DEX) application but as essential market infrastructure, drawing a parallel between Uniswap and YouTube, and Coinbase and Netflix.

Kendrick further posited that Uniswap is “uniquely positioned to scale” amidst the burgeoning growth of tokenized assets in DeFi. Its neutral, rules-based automated market maker (AMM) model is expected to become the foundational liquidity layer for institutional adoption. Standard Chartered forecasts that DeFi will manage $2.7 trillion in assets by 2030, potentially increasing the trading volume within Uniswap pools by 37 times. Additionally, a planned “UNIfication” fee-switch upgrade in late 2025 is expected to burn approximately 1% of the token supply annually, reducing the total supply from 1 billion to around 895 million.

The recent surge also follows Uniswap’s launch of tokenized securities on June 12. This development allows for the trading of tokenized stocks, including those of major companies like SpaceX, Apple, Tesla, and NVIDIA, across its app, wallet, and API. Uniswap Labs described the launch as “a small fraction of what’s coming,” highlighting that over $9.1 billion had already been swapped in real-world-asset pools prior to the debut of tokenized securities on the platform.

Fundamental analysis also supports the token’s momentum. Lorenzo Valente of ARK Invest noted that Uniswap achieved a record monthly trading volume of $125 billion in October 2025. The platform has since reclaimed its leading position among DEXs, accounting for 25-30% of total volume, and generates “close to half of all gross spot trading fees in the space.” Valente also pointed out that over the past 30 days, on an annualized basis, the protocol is on track to burn roughly 2% of its total supply, suggesting the token is now “fully aligned with the protocol as the single source of value accrual.”

    Risks and Future Outlook

Despite the positive momentum, UNI is trading near multi-year lows and remains significantly below its all-time high of $44.92, which was set in May 2021. Kendrick also identified potential risks, including competition from niche players and the eventual standardization of compliance rules as traditional finance participants increasingly enter the tokenization space.

The token’s current upward trend is further bolstered by BlackRock’s February decision to make its BUIDL tokenized money market fund accessible through Uniswap X. At the time, Uniswap Labs indicated that the asset manager had made a “strategic investment within the Uniswap ecosystem.”

House, Senate Agree on Housing Bill, Ban CBDC Until 2030

Housing Bill Includes Temporary Ban on Central Bank Digital Currency

Leaders of the Senate Banking and House Financial Services committees on Tuesday unveiled updated text for a comprehensive housing bill that includes a temporary prohibition on the U.S. issuing a central bank digital currency.

The legislation, H.R. 6644, known as the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, aims to increase housing supply, reduce costs, and prevent institutional investors from displacing families in the single-family housing market. A provision within the bill stipulates that the Federal Reserve “may not issue or create a central bank digital currency” or any similar asset until December 31, 2030. This ban includes an exception for open, permissionless private dollar assets, such as stablecoins, that maintain the privacy protections afforded by U.S. coins and physical currency.

The bill represents years of bipartisan and bicameral collaboration, incorporating priorities from both chambers of Congress and the White House, according to Senate Banking Chair Tim Scott (R-SC), Ranking Member Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), House Financial Services Chair French Hill (R-AR), and Ranking Member Maxine Waters (D-CA). Senator Scott stated it was time to “deliver real relief for the American people,” while Representative Waters described it as the most significant housing legislation in over three decades.

Following months of negotiations, the Senate agreed to a three-year sunset clause for a disaster recovery block grant program and adopted several House-approved measures. These include nine community banking bills and language designed to limit institutional homebuyers. Representative Hill expressed anticipation for President Trump to sign the bill into law. Representative Waters noted that the text incorporates over 50 housing and banking provisions that Democrats advocated for.

The provision restricting a central bank digital currency was added at the request of House Republicans, and the Trump administration has supported it. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent recently reaffirmed that a digital dollar is not under consideration.

Central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), which are digital equivalents of government-issued cash, have emerged as a contentious issue. Critics warn that CBDCs could facilitate financial surveillance. Some conservative House members, including Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), are pushing for a permanent ban, arguing that “CBDCs are bad for everyone.”

The Senate initially attached the CBDC ban to a package in March, passing it by a vote of 89-10. The House subsequently cleared its amended version in May with a 396-13 vote. The updated text is now scheduled for consideration on the Senate floor.

  • Analyst: 3 Altcoin Sectors Poised for Market Shakeout

Analyst: 3 Altcoin Sectors Poised for Market Shakeout

Analyst Identifies 3 Altcoin Sectors Positioned to Survive Market Shakeout

The era of altcoins generating profits solely through token launches and speculative hype is drawing to a close, according to CryptoQuant CEO Ki Young Ju. He asserts that only three distinct categories of cryptocurrencies will be sustainable in the future.

In a recent X thread, Ju clarified that “altcoins aren’t dead,” but those that relied on narrative-driven sales tactics are poised to vanish from the cryptocurrency landscape. He presented a structured argument for why selective investment in a small subset of the asset class remains viable in 2026, emphasizing projects with tangible revenue, established businesses, and alignment with the trajectory of global finance.

The first category identified by Ju comprises “global internet companies with tokenized market layers.” He cited Binance’s BNB Coin and the TON blockchain’s rebranded GRAM token as examples. According to Ju, these tokens are backed by revenue-generating businesses, possess a substantial user base, and demonstrate a long-term commitment to operations. He suggested that for such entities, issuing a token and listing it on a crypto exchange can be a more advantageous strategy than pursuing traditional equity offerings.

The second group highlighted by the market observer includes DeFi protocols that also generate actual revenue. Ju specifically mentioned Hyperliquid’s DEX, noting that tokens from these “high-quality” projects can still yield significant returns, particularly if their development teams are credible, they have consistent income streams, and their governance structures prioritize token holders.

Ju’s emphasis on Hyperliquid is noteworthy, given the recent surge in its associated HYPE token. The token experienced a jump of over 31% in the past seven days and nearly 70% over the last month. This upward momentum, fueled by ETF inflows and robust trading activity linked to SpaceX-related perpetual contracts, propelled the token to a new all-time high just above $76 on June 16.

Finally, Ju pointed to projects that are “aligned with broader financial trends.” This includes stablecoins and the tokenization of real-world assets, as well as AI agents, which he believes represent a “major growth area.”

Ju’s perspective aligns with a broader shift in cryptocurrency markets, where speculative sectors that previously dominated are now struggling to gain traction. For instance, data from CryptoRank indicates that meme coins, which once commanded a collective market capitalization exceeding $135 billion, have seen their value diminish to just $24.5 billion over the past two years, with the sector experiencing a decline of approximately 31% this year alone.

In contrast, the on-chain analyst observed a growing interest in stablecoins and tokenized stocks. These sectors, in his view, demonstrate blockchain technology’s capacity to support genuine business activities rather than merely facilitating speculative trading.

  • Coinbase to Offer Tokenized Stocks Globally

Coinbase to Offer Tokenized Stocks Globally

Coinbase to Offer Tokenized Stocks to International Customers

Coinbase announced Tuesday its plans to launch tokenized stock trading for customers outside the United States in August.

These tokenized stocks will be backed 1:1 by their underlying assets, representing “true equity ownership,” according to the company. This includes dividend payouts and full shareholder rights, in addition to the “programmatic utility of the onchain economy.”

The new product aims to blend traditional equities with the flexibility of cryptocurrency. Traders will be able to access stock markets outside of regular trading hours. Furthermore, tokenized stocks can be lent out to earn yields, used as collateral for loans, or transferred between users.

“Our product will give all the benefits of true ownership, with all the benefits of tokenized assets,” said Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong. “This is a great step towards unlocking global access to US markets.”

In parallel, Coinbase revealed it will be introducing options trading for both cryptocurrencies and stocks directly on its exchange. Options are derivative contracts that provide the holder with the “option” to sell at a specified strike price, distinguishing them from futures contracts, which are binding.

The company is also set to introduce perpetual futures for real-world assets (RWAs), offering targeted exposure to equity indices such as AI, China, defense, and technology.

Coinbase’s recently launched pre-IPO perpetuals provide early access to high-interest companies before their public market debut. The offering initially includes SpaceX and is expected to expand to include Anthropic and OpenAI.

Pre-IPO perpetual futures have seen a significant surge in popularity in recent months, particularly leading up to SpaceX’s IPO last week. Data from CryptoQuant indicates that trading volumes across major exchanges have jumped 1,100% since early May, reaching approximately $12 billion, with Binance holding the dominant market share.

Pre-IPO perpetual volume has surged from $2 million in March to $12 billion as of June. Binance alone now controls approximately 83% of this market.

Tokenized stocks currently represent only 5% of the total onchain value of tokenized RWAs, according to RWA.xyz, amounting to around $1.5 billion. Ondo leads the market for tokenized stocks by market share, holding 59%, followed by xStocks with 32%.

In separate remarks made to Fox News on Tuesday, Brian Armstrong alleged that major banks are attempting to undermine the President’s crypto agenda.

“They’re [banks] are trying to protect their profit margins, taking money out of the pockets of hardworking Americans,” Armstrong stated.

Banks are reportedly lobbying against cryptocurrency legislation, particularly concerning stablecoin yields, which significantly surpass the interest rates offered by traditional banks. This opposition stems from concerns about a potential deposit flight, as savers may seek higher returns on their capital rather than leaving it to depreciate in conventional bank accounts.

    Risk Warning and Order Handling

During the brief 2-minute window for each trading pair’s precision adjustment, trading will be temporarily suspended. Users will be unable to perform transfers, place new orders, amend existing orders, or cancel orders for the affected pairs. Trading for other pairs will remain unaffected.

    Existing Orders:

    • Limit Orders: If an existing limit order’s decimal precision is greater than the newly adjusted trading amount precision, the order will be canceled. Orders with a decimal precision less than or equal to the adjusted precision will remain active. For instance, an order with a precision of 0.000001 would be canceled if the precision is adjusted to 0.00001, while an order with a precision of 0.00001 would not be canceled.
    • Trading Bots: Similar to limit orders, existing bot orders with a precision greater than the adjusted value will be canceled. Orders with a precision less than or equal to the new precision will not be canceled.

    * For Spot Grid and Spot DCA bots, open orders will be canceled, and the bots will be stopped.
    * For all other bot types and order types (including recurring buy, TWAP, iceberg, smart portfolio, stop, trailing stop, and trigger orders), open orders will be canceled, but the bots themselves will not be affected and will resume trading with the new precision once trading reopens.

    Adjustments to Larger Decimal Values:

If the trading amount precision is adjusted to a larger decimal value (e.g., from 0.00001 to 0.000001), existing orders will be filled according to the new, more precise trading amount.

    API Users:

For orders placed via API, if the trading amount precision is adjusted to a smaller decimal value (e.g., from 0.000001 to 0.00001), the system will automatically round down buy orders and round up sell orders to ensure successful placement. However, users will not be able to place orders using the pre-adjustment precision on the standard web and mobile interfaces.

    Order Display:

    • When precision is adjusted to smaller decimal places (e.g., 0.000001 to 0.00001):

    * Non-API users will see open and historical orders displayed with the adjusted trading amount precision.
    * API users will see open and historical orders displayed with the pre-adjustment trading amount precision.

    • When precision is adjusted to larger decimal places (e.g., 0.00001 to 0.000001):

    * Open and historical orders will be displayed with the original trading amount precision.

OKX advises users to adjust their trading strategies accordingly to mitigate any potential impact from these changes.

The exchange also reiterated a general risk warning, stating that the provided information is for educational purposes only and does not constitute financial, investment, or any other form of advice. Digital assets are highly speculative and volatile, and investors may lose their entire investment. OKX encourages users to conduct their own research and evaluate their risk appetite before trading.

AVAX Growth Slowdown Sparks Social Media Debate

Avalanche Faces Scrutiny Amidst Growing Skepticism

Avalanche (AVAX) found itself at the center of intense discussion on Monday, even as the broader cryptocurrency market experienced a rally. Growing skepticism surrounding the network’s competitive edge has ignited widespread debate on social media.

Concerns Over Network Growth and Developer Activity

Data from Santiment indicates that many users are questioning Avalanche’s ability to keep pace with rapidly expanding blockchains like Solana and Sui. A significant portion of the criticism centers on the perception that developer activity, user adoption, and overall ecosystem growth are shifting away from Avalanche and towards rival networks. Santiment’s sentiment analysis reveals a sharp decline in market mood surrounding AVAX, transitioning from a highly bullish phase earlier this year to one of its most bearish periods.

However, the analytics platform also noted that extreme negative sentiment can sometimes present opportunities for market reversals. Despite the mounting criticism, Avalanche continues to foster institutional partnerships, engage in government-linked initiatives, and leverage its subnet technology, which remains a key feature of the network.

    Developer Metrics Lag Behind Competitors

Further insights from Electric Capital’s Developer Report highlight a disparity in developer engagement. Solana leads with 795 full-time developers, defined as those contributing at least 10 days per month, while Sui boasts 202 such developers. Avalanche trails behind with 168 full-time developers. In terms of total developer counts, Solana leads with 2,555, followed by Sui at 656, and Avalanche at 484. This metric exclusively counts original code authors, excluding those involved in merged pull requests, forked commits, and automated bot activity.

Recent Price Action and FIFA Partnership

AVAX briefly surpassed the $7 mark this week, mirroring the broader crypto market’s recovery. The token saw a nearly 4% increase in the past 24 hours. This uptick coincides with increased attention on FIFA’s partnership with Avalanche for the ongoing 2026 World Cup. FIFA is utilizing a custom Avalanche blockchain to manage ticketing, loyalty programs, and digital collectibles for fans globally.

The Layer 1 network, announced in May 2025, powers FIFA Collect, the organization’s official collectibles platform developed in collaboration with Modex. This initiative allows fans to use “Right-to-Ticket” collectibles to gain access to official World Cup tickets via a dedicated portal before matches. The partnership has reportedly contributed to Avalanche attracting new users.

    Long-Term Performance and Historical Context

Despite recent gains, AVAX remains down over 26% in the past month. Furthermore, its price has fallen by more than 76% from its September 2026 high of $30.

    Binance Faces EU License Rejection

Binance Confident in EU Compliance Amidst Report of Potential Service Loss

Leading cryptocurrency exchange Binance stated Tuesday that it believes it is operating in compliance with the European Union’s Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) regulatory framework. This assertion comes in the wake of a Reuters report suggesting the firm is likely to lose its ability to offer services to EU residents.

Reuters, citing two sources familiar with the matter, reported that Greece’s markets regulator is expected to deny Binance’s application ahead of the June 30 license deadline.

“We have been pursuing a MiCA licence and have worked constructively with regulators over the past 18 months, including through a comprehensive application process with the HCMC in Greece,” a spokesperson for the exchange told Decrypt. “Our understanding is that the HCMC completed its review of the application and considered it compliant with MiCA requirements.”

The firm established a holding company in Greece in December and formally applied for a MiCA license in January through the Hellenic Capital Market Commission (HCMC). Approval would have allowed Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange by daily trading volume, to extend its services to other EU nations, including France, Spain, and Germany.

However, if the application is denied, Binance would be required to cease operations across the European Union, a scenario Reuters indicated is likely imminent.

“Our priority is to minimize disruption and keep users informed. We will provide further details directly as additional information becomes available, including in relation to next steps and available options,” the firm posted on X.

In a blog post, Binance emphasized that Europe remains “central to [its] long-term plans” and that it “remains willing and ready to operate under a truly harmonized MiCA regime.”

Earlier this year, French regulators indicated that approximately 90 crypto firms were operating in the region without MiCA compliance, although about 30% had applied for the license at that time. Last year, French regulators had threatened to disallow the “passporting” – the transference of compliance allowed by MiCA licenses throughout EU nations – as they sought to elevate oversight to the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA).

A spokesperson for Binance told Decrypt that the exchange’s understanding is that its MiCA application was also reviewed at the ESMA level.
