Hyperliquid Upgrade to Enable Permissionless Prediction Markets

Hyperliquid is preparing to launch its HIP-4 upgrade, a move that may allow any user to deploy a prediction market on its platform, shifting away from the current validator-controlled system. This upgrade aims to establish prediction markets as a permissionless primitive.

    Mechanism and Incentives
The HIP-4 upgrade, which initially introduced “outcome trading” in May, mandates that market deployers stake 500,000 HYPE tokens. This stake is subject to slashing if a market is poorly defined or settled incorrectly. In return for deploying and managing markets, deployers can earn up to 50% of the trading fees generated. The economic framework for these permissionless markets mirrors Hyperliquid’s existing permissionless perpetuals.

    Industry Context and Growth
This development occurs amidst significant growth in the prediction market sector. In June, the sector recorded $50 billion in wagers, with July on pace to surpass this figure, having already reached $37 billion. Kalshi currently leads the market, accounting for $33 billion (66% market share) of June’s wagers. Hyperliquid, in comparison, generated $176 million in wagers during June.

    Strategic Shift and Competition
Hyperliquid’s strategy with HIP-4 is to move from a model where the platform or validators define every market—a approach seen with competitors like Polymarket and Kalshi—to a more open system. Following the upgrade, Hyperliquid aims to limit validator-run markets to fewer than 10 per year.

    Potential Implications and Uncertainties
Despite the move towards a more open system, the success of the permissionless model remains uncertain. Key questions include whether it may attract substantial user adoption, the precise timeline for the testnet and mainnet rollout, and the volume of markets the community will deploy. The effectiveness of this model could be crucial for Hyperliquid’s ability to significantly impact the prediction market sector.

Hyperliquid has previously garnered attention, including warnings from JPMorgan regarding its potential impact on Circle, and has engaged in lobbying efforts with both the SEC and CFTC. The platform’s transition to permissionless prediction markets is an upcoming development, with the upgrade slated to launch first on testnet before moving to mainnet.

    Why This Matters

The materials describe a narrow update: Hyperliquid’s HIP-4 upgrade will allow anyone to deploy a prediction market on its platform, moving away from validator-controlled markets. Whether the permissionless model will be successful.

Crypto Bettor Loses $1.5 Million on Argentina’s World Cup Win Over England

The FIFA World Cup remains arguably the most-watched sporting event globally, with its high-stakes matches consistently drawing significant interest from those willing to place substantial wagers. The recent semi-finals—Argentina versus England and Spain versus France—were no exception, resulting in massive windfalls for some and devastating losses for others.

    High-Stakes Drama in the Semi-Finals

On July 15, football powerhouses Argentina and England faced off to determine who would advance to the 2026 FIFA World Cup final against Spain. The match, fueled by a historic rivalry, lived up to its billing as a heated derby. The first half was defined more by physical clashes and tension than by fluid play.

England broke the deadlock early in the second half, but the momentum shifted in the final minutes as they conceded two goals, effectively ending their hopes of bringing the title “home.”

Argentina’s late comeback sent shockwaves through the stadium and the betting markets alike. One trader on Polymarket—a platform operating on the Polygon blockchain where wagers are settled via cryptocurrency—lost $1.5 million after betting on England to eliminate Argentina. Conversely, another trader saw their fortunes rise, turning a $770,000 wager on Argentina to advance into a payout of more than $1.6 million.

    A Multi-Million Dollar Turnaround

The most dramatic narrative of the semi-finals involved a gambler who placed a staggering $11.3 million on the Spain versus France match, betting that Spain would secure a spot in the final. Prior to this massive wager, the trader had been facing a brutal loss of nearly $11 million. The bet proved to be a turning point, flipping their fortunes and leaving them with a profit of roughly $8 million following Spain’s decisive 2-0 victory.

    The “Drake Curse” Strikes Again

Speculation circulated on X regarding Canadian musician Drake, with users claiming he placed a $450,000 bet on England to defeat Argentina, alongside a $150,000 wager on Harry Kane to score. Rumors also suggested he placed similar sums on France to eliminate Spain.

If these wagers occurred, they were unsuccessful—a familiar outcome for the rapper, who has gained notoriety for his gambling misfortune. His string of incorrect predictions has become so consistent that it inspired the “Drake Curse,” a popular meme suggesting that any athlete or team he supports is destined to lose.

Earlier this month, the rapper reportedly wagered $1 million in Bitcoin on Conor McGregor for his return to the octagon against Max Holloway at UFC 329. McGregor lost the fight in the first round, further cementing the reputation of the so-called curse.

  • Uniswap Activates UNI Buybacks and Burns as Protocol Fees Launch

Uniswap Activates UNI Buybacks and Burns as Protocol Fees Launch

Uniswap Fee Switch Goes Live, Generating Millions in Daily Revenue

Uniswap’s long-anticipated fee switch has officially activated, with protocol founder Hayden Adams reporting approximately $5.2 million in daily fees generated. This figure places Uniswap’s revenue generation behind only stablecoins Tether and Circle, according to current data. The move has prompted cryptocurrency traders to analyze its potential impact, with the native UNI token trading near $3.50.

As of today, Uniswap also solidifies its position as the leading decentralized exchange in terms of fee generation, maintaining a significant lead over competitors. This development comes as the protocol, often declared obsolete during market downturns, continues to demonstrate its resilience and utility.

Mechanism for Fee Accrual and UNI Burns

Under the new system, protocol fees are now accumulated on-chain and can only be claimed through the burning of UNI tokens. This direct linkage ensures that protocol revenue directly contributes to token burns, bypassing the need for further governance votes on the matter. The mechanism is now operational, meaning that robust trading days will automatically increase fees within the system, subsequently leading to more UNI burns without requiring additional proposals or community polls.

This provides the market with a tangible metric to monitor. If Uniswap consistently generates over $5 million in daily fees, investors will be compelled to reassess whether the current UNI price adequately reflects this reality. While market narratives can influence price action, sustained cash flow is often the ultimate determinant of long-term value.

Rewarding Liquidity Providers and UNI Holders

The fee switch fundamentally alters how Uniswap rewards both liquidity providers (LPs) and UNI holders. Protocol fees are now distributed across v2 and select v3 pools on 11 different blockchains. In these enabled pools, LPs will receive a 0.25% fee, while the protocol retains a 0.05% slice. This protocol portion is automatically allocated to UNI buybacks and burns, rather than being directed to a central treasury.

This model was introduced as part of the UNIFication initiative, which also included a one-time burn of 100 million UNI from the crypto treasury. This initial burn addressed fees that had accumulated prior to token holders sharing in protocol revenue. The rollout was implemented in phases, commencing with Ethereum in late December 2025 and expanding to additional networks through March and June 2026. Revenue from Unichain sequencers also contributes to the burn pool after necessary deductions.

Potential Impact on UNI Supply and Trading Volume

The financial implications become particularly significant when considering trading volume. Crypto governance estimates suggest that this model could have resulted in approximately $26 million worth of UNI being burned over a 30-day period. At similar activity levels, year-to-date burns could have approached $150 million, based on historical trading data.

A key future milestone involves extending protocol fees to v4 pools, contingent on governance approval. If trading activity remains strong, UNI’s circulating supply is expected to decrease over time. Conversely, a decline in trading volume would slow the burn rate and potentially temper the positive narrative surrounding the token. UNI recently traded around $3.51, while Ethereum was priced near $1,825. Given that Ethereum remains the primary driver of Uniswap’s fee generation, its trading activity will be a crucial factor to watch.

  • BONK Treasury Vote: Hack or Governance Dispute?

BONK Treasury Vote: Hack or Governance Dispute?

Anonymous Wallet Drains $21 Million from BonkDAO Treasury in Governance Vote

An anonymous cryptocurrency wallet has successfully drained $21.2 million from the BonkDAO treasury by strategically acquiring BONK tokens and leveraging them to pass a governance proposal. The incident, which saw the attacker profit $16.8 million, has ignited a debate within the crypto community, dividing opinions between those who label it a theft and those who argue the Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) functioned as intended.

    The Mechanics of the “Theft”

Blockchain analytics firm Lookonchain reported that the operation began on June 30 when the attacker submitted a proposal to BonkDAO requesting the transfer of 4.426 trillion BONK tokens, valued at approximately $21.2 million, to a wallet under their control. For the proposal to pass, it required the support of at least 1% of the total BONK supply, which, according to CoinGecko data, stands at just under 88 trillion tokens.

Beginning around July 4, the attacker proceeded to purchase 882.285 billion BONK tokens on the Bybit and Binance exchanges. This amount was precisely enough to meet the 1% quorum requirement (879.95 billion tokens) needed to vote on their previously submitted proposal. Subsequently, the attacker cast a “yes” vote with their entire holdings of 882.285 billion BONK, thereby passing the proposal and enabling the transfer of the 4.426 trillion tokens to their controlled wallet.

Chainalysis, another firm tracking on-chain activity, corroborated Lookonchain’s findings. The firm stated that the attacker acquired their tokens between July 4 and 5, sourcing some from major exchanges and borrowing others through decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms.

    Aftermath and BonkDAO’s Response

Approximately nine hours after securing the $21 million in tokens, the attacker transferred $188,000 to OKX, a figure Peckshield places at $148,000. The remaining funds were then deposited into a newly created DAO, dubbed “BONK 2.0,” which the attacker established to govern the stolen assets. Chainalysis indicated that this new DAO is controlled by the malicious voter, the exploiter wallet, and a third wallet with reported financial ties to the voter wallet.

BonkDAO acknowledged the treasury loss in a statement released on X. The DAO confirmed it had identified the exchange wallets used to acquire the voting tokens prior to the proposal’s success. It also stated that law enforcement had been notified and that the DAO was coordinating with exchanges, bridges, and the Solana Foundation to “manage the situation.”

Following the news of the incident, the BONK token experienced a decline in value. At the time of writing, CoinGecko data showed BONK trading around $0.00000438, representing a 7.4% drop in 24 hours, though it remained up nearly 5% for the week.

This event contributes to a broader trend of DeFi platforms losing close to $1 billion to malicious actors this year, as reported by CryptoRank.

    Divergent Views on the Incident

However, not all observers agree that a crime has occurred. Ogle, an advisor at World Liberty Financial, questioned the involvement of law enforcement, characterizing the event as a standard DAO function. “Someone legitimately bought a lot of tokens, proposed a DAO vote, the vote passed with almost no opposition, and the proposal was executed,” Ogle wrote on X. They further suggested that reports of the voting website being inaccessible during the voting period, if true, would raise separate concerns but did not necessarily render the on-chain vote illegal.

Conversely, others, such as Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz, argued that using governance control over a shared treasury for personal gain could constitute fraud, citing a fiduciary duty owed by governance participants to other stakeholders. Schwartz also noted that BonkDAO’s lack of a formal legal structure could expose participants to partnership-style liabilities in certain jurisdictions.

  • DeFi Poised to Disrupt Wall Street Stock Lending, Says Securitize Exec

DeFi Poised to Disrupt Wall Street Stock Lending, Says Securitize Exec

Tokenization, often viewed as a Wall Street playground, also presents a “Trojan Horse” opportunity for consumers, according to Securitize President Brett Redfearn.

A New Era for Everyday Investors

In a recent interview with Decrypt, Redfearn, who previously served as the SEC’s director of trading and markets before joining Securitize in April, argued that bringing real-world assets onto the blockchain will directly benefit individual investors by leveraging cryptocurrency’s fundamental principle of disintermediation.

From Redfearn’s viewpoint, empowering investors to retain control over their assets in digital form unlocks efficiencies that are typically inaccessible within traditional financial systems.

    Rethinking Stock Lending

He cited stock lending as a prime example. This common practice on major retail brokerage platforms passively generates revenue by loaning out investors’ shares to short-sellers. Currently, retail investors allow brokers to lend their idle shares, effectively forfeiting the majority of the profits to the intermediary.

However, Redfearn believes tokenization fundamentally alters this dynamic. By eliminating centralized gatekeepers, he contends that the technology opens new avenues for consumers to make their assets work harder, particularly within the realm of decentralized finance.

“I think that business is totally disruptible,” Redfearn stated emphatically. “There are a lot of opportunities when you start to disintermediate traditional businesses.”

    Securitize’s Public Debut

Securitize’s stock is slated to begin trading on the New York Stock Exchange on Thursday under the ticker symbol “SECZ.” This listing will serve as a test of whether Wall Street’s growing acceptance of tokenization extends to the companies that have been instrumental in bringing the technology to the mainstream in recent years.

While Securitize has emerged as a leader in facilitating on-chain security issuance for firms like BlackRock, Redfearn acknowledged that the full potential of decentralized finance to drive the company’s growth hinges on the contributions of a broad range of independent developers.

“I believe that the sky’s the limit in terms of what builders are going to be able to achieve that’s going to bring benefits for investors who are interested in participating in this sort of tokenized securities ecosystem,” he added.

The Profit Split in Stock Lending

The revenue share from stock lending varies significantly for consumers. For instance, Robinhood reportedly retains approximately 85% of the associated revenue, while Charles Schwab divides it equally, according to NerdWallet.

Nevertheless, some financial institutions appear to be moving closer to Redfearn’s vision. Robinhood is expected to announce new products on Wednesday, and Compass Point analyst Ed Engel noted in a recent report that “tokenized equities compatible with DeFi” are likely to be among them. This follows Robinhood’s experimentation with the format for European customers last year.

  • Ripple CTO Proposes Front-Running Block on XRPL DEX

Ripple CTO Proposes Front-Running Block on XRPL DEX

Ripple CTO Proposes Reserved Transactions to Block Front-Running on XRPL DEX

David Schwartz, co-founder of the XRP Ledger (XRPL) and Ripple CTO Emeritus, has put forth a proposal for a two-component transaction reservation mechanism designed to combat front-running and sandwich attack risks on XRPL’s native Decentralized Exchange (DEX) and Automated Market Maker (AMM).

The proposal emerged in response to concerns voiced by XRP-focused analytics account XRPresso.io. It introduces a system that guarantees priority execution for users willing to pay a reservation fee. This measure is intended to bolster market integrity, particularly as institutional investment in XRP products continues to grow.

Currently, the proposal is under community discussion and has not yet been formalized as a network amendment. This distinction is significant, as protocol changes on the XRP Ledger require a supermajority of validators to approve before activation. Schwartz’s design, while influential, must navigate a defined governance process before potentially being implemented on the mainnet.

The proposed scheme involves two new protocol components. The first is a ReservedTxns ledger object, which will store a target ledger sequence number and an array of up to 32 transaction IDs. When the specified ledger executes, any transactions listed in this object that are present in the consensus set will be processed first, ahead of all other transactions. The object will then be deleted. The second component is a TxnReserve transaction type, enabling users to claim a priority slot for one or more future transactions by submitting a reservation before the target ledger closes.

Concerns have been raised regarding the potential for front-running and transaction sandwich attacks on XRPL payments and offer crossing. Schwartz, however, has expressed less concern about this issue, citing his proposed solution as a “fairly simple scheme that would eliminate” these risks.

Three constraints govern the TxnReserve mechanism. The reservation fee must be at least double the standard transaction fee. The target ledger must be within 16 ledgers of the current one. Crucially, the actual transaction must set its LastLedgerSequence to match the reserved ledger.

These rules are designed to define both the economic cost of using the system and the narrow operational timeframe. The 16-ledger limit ensures that reservations are tightly linked to near-term execution, preventing the mechanism from being exploited as a general-purpose tool for queue manipulation.

Denial-of-Service (DoS) protection is integrated through dynamic fee scaling. As reservation slots fill beyond 16, fees increase incrementally, reaching several multiples of the base reserve near 30 slots. Schwartz also indicated that XRPL server software would hold reserved transactions and release them only as the proposals for the preceding ledger become known, thereby compressing the pre-execution visibility window.

“This guarantees that you can execute your transaction ahead of any transaction that was formed after your transaction was disclosed,” Schwartz stated. “You would use this approach any time you want to perform a transaction that you want to ensure cannot be sandwiched or front run.”

XRPresso’s concerns stem from a structural characteristic of the XRP Ledger: pending transactions reside in a publicly visible queue before a ledger closes, granting validators and well-connected nodes advance insight into incoming trades. Because canonical transaction ordering on XRPL is determined by a known, deterministic formula involving transaction hashes, a sophisticated actor could repeatedly submit similar transactions to increase their chances of securing a favorable slot relative to a target trade, forming the basis for a sandwich attack on the DEX or AMM.

Schwartz acknowledged this potential exposure but contested the framing of the issue. He argued that all participants have equal access to the public queue and that validators gain no inherent ordering advantage unless multiple parties collude. “If multiple validators did conspire, or a single validator attempted it, it would be very obvious to everyone exactly who was doing this,” he said, adding that no such confirmed attempts have been made beyond proof-of-concept exercises.

He also highlighted a practical profitability constraint: extracting significant value requires both high liquidity (to generate substantial volume) and low liquidity (to influence price at a manageable cost), a combination rarely found on XRPL. This argument, while not fully satisfying all critics, does differentiate XRPL’s current risk profile from the historically active Miner Extractable Value (MEV) environment seen on Ethereum.

The debate surrounding front-running in decentralized finance is not confined to the XRP ecosystem. Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao proposed a dark pool perpetuals DEX last year that utilized zero-knowledge cryptography to obscure order data until execution. This approach, however, drew criticism from decentralization advocates who argued it recreated the information asymmetries that cryptocurrency was intended to eliminate.

XRPresso echoed a similar sentiment in response to Schwartz, contending that targeted confidentiality for pending transaction details would represent a more robust long-term solution than a reservation fee layer, and pointed to existing implementations on competing blockchain networks.

  • Ripple: XRP Ledger Lending and Credit Features Under Development

Ripple: XRP Ledger Lending and Credit Features Under Development

XRP Ledger Nears Institutional Lending Capabilities with New Protocol Test

San Francisco, CA – The XRP Ledger (XRPL) is moving closer to enabling direct on-chain borrowing and lending of digital assets for institutions, as Ripple announced Monday that developers can now begin testing the XRPL Lending Protocol in a sandbox environment.

In a blog post, the company detailed two technical specifications, XLS-65 and XLS-66, which are designed to integrate native credit infrastructure directly into the XRPL. This development aims to offer financial firms a new method for structuring agreements on the blockchain.

Pending approval from network validators, this dual upgrade would allow tokenized real-world assets (RWAs), such as money market funds and commodities, to be utilized as working capital on the XRPL. Currently, these assets often exist as static inventory across numerous network accounts.

The XRPL Lending Protocol is built on two core components. The “Single Asset Vault” provides a standardized framework for pooling assets on the XRPL, while the “Lending Protocol” governs loan terms, servicing, and repayment mechanisms.

Ripple clarified that the underwriting process will remain off-chain. This means that the assessment of a borrower’s creditworthiness will not be recorded on the XRPL, a design choice intended to give institutions control over their lending decisions.

“This separation mirrors real financial infrastructure,” Ripple stated. “By preserving that distinction, XRPL can support a wider range of credit structures over time, rather than hard-coding one lending model into a single application.”

Despite the off-chain underwriting, repayment schedules, interest calculations, and default conditions will operate under predefined rules once a loan is initiated. Furthermore, losses stemming from defaults are designed to be contained through a multi-tiered approach, prioritizing the risk of capital from pool managers and underwriters, a structure that mirrors traditional finance.

Ripple drew a comparison to public lending protocols like Aave, acknowledging their success in facilitating large-scale on-chain lending. However, the firm argued that these protocols’ crypto-native governance and risk frameworks do not align with the risk management procedures favored by Wall Street.

The company highlighted potential use cases for the dual upgrade, including enabling payment providers to access short-duration liquidity and allowing treasury teams to generate revenue by lending digital assets under more transparent terms.

This new lending protocol follows a significant milestone for the XRPL in May, when Ondo Finance utilized the network for the first cross-border, cross-bank redemption of tokenized U.S. Treasuries. Ripple described the new lending upgrade as the “missing layer” for on-chain finance, asserting that simply moving an asset onto the blockchain is only part of the equation.

The XRPL Lending Protocol is also expected to boost the on-chain usage of Ripple’s stablecoin. Since its launch in late 2024, RLUSD has achieved a market capitalization of $1.5 billion, according to CoinGecko.

On Monday, XRP was trading around $1.05, marking an 8.2% decrease over the past week. Last Thursday, the cryptocurrency experienced a notable dip, falling to its lowest point since President Donald Trump’s reelection, briefly touching just under a dollar, mirroring a broader market trend influenced by Bitcoin’s performance.

  • Kraken Seeks 15% Aave Stake at $385M

Kraken Seeks 15% Aave Stake at $385M

Kraken Eyes 15% Stake in Aave at $385 Million Valuation

Cryptocurrency exchange Kraken is reportedly in discussions to acquire a 15% stake in decentralized finance protocol Aave, valuing the company at $385 million.

Under the proposed deal, Kraken would invest 35,000 ETH, approximately $55 million, in exchange for 250,000 AAVE tokens, valued at $20 million, and a 15% common equity stake in Aave Group, the entity behind the protocol. This package is estimated to be worth around $71 million.

The move comes as Aave is working to recover from the KelpDAO exploit in April, which led to billions of dollars in deposit withdrawals, although Aave’s own smart contracts remained uncompromised. For Kraken’s parent company, Payward, this acquisition represents a strategic diversification effort ahead of a potential initial public offering.

This development coincides with Standard Chartered’s recent positive outlook on the AAVE token. Geoff Kendrick, an analyst at the bank, initiated coverage of AAVE with a price target suggesting nearly 50-fold upside by the end of the decade, projecting a price of around $4,000 compared to its current valuation of approximately $81. This forecast is based on the bank’s thesis that tokenization and on-chain credit will drive substantial growth in decentralized finance lending. The past week has seen both a major bank express confidence in the token and a prominent exchange invest in the company.

However, a potential challenge arises for AAVE token holders and prospective buyers. Kraken’s deal values the Aave company at $385 million, while the AAVE token currently holds a market capitalization of roughly $1.24 billion. This means the token’s market cap is more than three times the equity valuation of the company. In traditional finance, company value is typically derived from ownership of the business and its cash flows. In the cryptocurrency space, however, the relationship between token value and company value has been a significant theme throughout the recent market cycle.

With Aave, a substantial portion of the protocol’s economic activity is directed towards the token, through the DAO treasury and a buyback program that utilizes protocol revenue to repurchase AAVE. The company, in turn, primarily focuses on developing and operating the software. Consequently, the market appears to be valuing the token as capturing the majority of Aave’s worth, or perhaps indicating that the token is priced at a premium relative to the underlying business. Kraken’s proposed deal, by encompassing both tokens and equity, avoids taking a definitive stance. Nevertheless, for external observers, purchasing a token that trades at more than three times the valuation of the underlying company presents a complex investment decision.

It remains to be seen whether the market will adjust to this valuation discrepancy or accept it.

BlackBerry Surges 20% as It Pivots to Physical-AI Software

BlackBerry shares experienced a significant surge of nearly 20% on Thursday, following an earnings report that surpassed expectations and an upward revision of its financial guidance. The former smartphone manufacturer is increasingly emphasizing its role in the burgeoning field of physical artificial intelligence and robotics.

In the first quarter, the company reported revenue of $152.9 million, marking a 26% increase year-over-year and exceeding the approximately $138 million anticipated by analysts. Adjusted EBITDA also saw a substantial rise of 144%, and BlackBerry achieved its first positive fiscal first-quarter cash flow in nine years.

The primary driver of this growth is QNX, BlackBerry’s embedded operating system, which saw a 26% increase in revenue to $72.3 million. QNX is a deterministic, safety-certified real-time operating system already integrated into over 275 million vehicles. The same attributes that ensure its reliability in automotive applications also make it highly valuable for robots and autonomous machines, where software malfunctions can have tangible physical consequences. Leading chipmakers such as Nvidia and AMD already utilize QNX in their smart car and robotics solutions. BlackBerry is now positioning QNX as a foundational infrastructure for software-defined vehicles, robotics, and industrial automation.

The company’s new strategy highlights BlackBerry’s quiet emergence as a key provider of essential technology for the physical AI sector. Robots and autonomous systems require operating systems with unwavering reliability, a need that BlackBerry addresses with QNX. A survey commissioned by QNX revealed that 89% of robotics developers consider physical AI to be critical to their strategic objectives, and the recent stock performance suggests that Wall Street is beginning to recognize BlackBerry as a significant player in the AI and robotics landscape.

  • Standard Chartered: Aave Token Poised for 50x Surge by 2030

Standard Chartered: Aave Token Poised for 50x Surge by 2030

Standard Chartered Bets Big on Aave, Projecting 50-Fold Token Surge by 2030

Analysts at Standard Chartered are making a bold prediction for Aave, a leading decentralized finance (DeFi) lending platform, forecasting its native token could experience a nearly 50-fold increase from current levels by the end of the decade. This optimistic outlook comes just months after the protocol faced significant disruption from a major ecosystem exploit.

In a research note published Wednesday, Geoff Kendrick, the bank’s global head of digital assets research, initiated coverage of Aave’s token (AAVE) with a price target of $3,500 by the close of 2030. This represents a substantial jump from its approximate $70 valuation at the time of the report’s release.

The bank anticipates a phased ascent for the token, projecting it to reach $180 by the end of this year. This will be followed by accelerated growth to $600, $1,200, and $2,200 over the subsequent three years, ultimately leading to the ambitious 2030 target.

AAVE previously reached an all-time high above $661 in 2021. However, it has not approached that peak since, even with a rally to nearly $400 in late 2024 following President Donald Trump’s reelection.

This renewed optimism emerges after a challenging period for Aave, a platform that facilitates lending and borrowing without intermediaries. An April theft of $291 million from KelpDAO, a smaller DeFi platform, had ripple effects that impacted Aave’s liquidity and prompted many DeFi users to withdraw their assets.

Since the incident, deposits on the Aave platform have approximately halved, dropping from $44 billion to $23 billion. Similarly, active loans have decreased from $18 million to $9.5 billion within the same timeframe. Standard Chartered noted that Aave’s market share in the broader lending sector has fallen to 38% of deposits, down from an average of 59% in the year prior to the exploit.

Standard Chartered contends that the negative impact has largely subsided. They point to a new risk framework proposed by Aave founder Stani Kulechov and a recent increase in deposits from a June low as indicators of recovery. The bank’s core conviction, however, rests on the broader trajectory of decentralized finance. They forecast that the value of tokenized assets within DeFi will grow by a factor of 37, reaching $2.7 trillion by 2030. This expansion is expected to be driven by the proliferation of stablecoins, the integration of tokenized real-world assets from traditional finance giants, and rising cryptocurrency prices.

Given that Aave primarily generates revenue through the spread between deposit interest rates and borrower fees, the bank argues that its earnings, and consequently its token price, should closely mirror this projected growth.

Despite the optimistic outlook, the forecast is subject to considerable uncertainty. Standard Chartered itself acknowledges that scaling Aave’s institutional lending division, known as Aave Horizon, is “achievable but not yet proven.” Success in this area hinges on partnerships with traditional finance firms, which have yet to materialize on a significant scale.

Furthermore, digital asset prices remain inherently volatile. Bitcoin experienced a drop to a 21-month low on Wednesday, with most other major assets following suit. AAVE briefly rose above $77 earlier in the day following the report’s release, but subsequently relinquished most of those gains as the broader market faltered. However, the token has since climbed above $79, marking a nearly 9% increase for the day as Bitcoin begins to show signs of recovery.

In addition to its $3,500 price target for AAVE by the end of 2030, Standard Chartered’s report also set price targets of $40,000 for Ethereum (currently trading around $1,614) and $500,000 for Bitcoin (currently valued at $60,831).

  • Altman’s AI Forecasts SpaceX Stock Price by 2026

Altman’s AI Forecasts SpaceX Stock Price by 2026

ChatGPT AI has offered a projection for SpaceX’s stock price, viewing the recent market pullback as a potential opportunity rather than a cause for concern. The artificial intelligence model forecasts a price range of $220 to $280 by the close of 2026, with an optimistic scenario extending to $320.

    Bullish Outlook

The optimistic case for SpaceX hinges on its unique position as a conglomerate of diverse businesses operating under a single stock ticker. Currently trading at $156, the AI model interprets this as a foundation for growth rather than an inflated target.

SpaceX operates at the nexus of satellite internet dominance, commercial launch leadership, significant defense contracts, and the development of next-generation space infrastructure. Concurrently, its Starlink service is rapidly expanding into a substantial, revenue-generating enterprise. The burgeoning investor interest in artificial intelligence further bolsters this outlook, particularly given the company’s increasing involvement through its integrated AI operations.

Analysts anticipate that escalating government and military demand could provide sustained support through the latter half of 2026. Furthermore, any tangible advancements in the Starship program would offer a compelling new narrative for investors to rally behind.

Should market risk appetite broadly return and investors continue to assign premium valuations to this multifaceted business model, the AI model suggests $250 as a realistic year-end target. A price of $300 or higher could be attainable if the company demonstrates strong execution and market conditions remain favorable.

    Bearish Considerations

The primary concern for a bearish outlook is valuation. The current stock price already reflects significant future expectations, leaving minimal room for error or disappointment.

Potential headwinds include a slowdown in Starlink subscriber growth, delays in the Starship program, broader market weakness, or the typical selling pressure that can follow an initial public offering as lock-up periods expire. These factors could potentially keep shares trading within the $130 to $180 range, hindering upward momentum.

    Technical Analysis

The intraday chart reveals SpaceX trading at $156.06 following a volatile initial two weeks as a publicly traded company. The stock experienced a sharp surge from its IPO price into the low $220s before experiencing a significant decline. It subsequently traded in a pattern of lower highs as it moved back towards the $150 mark.

Such an explosive debut followed by a swift correction is not uncommon for mega-cap IPOs, as early momentum traders take profits and lock-up expirations begin to influence market sentiment.

The price recently found support around the $150 level, rallied towards $190, and then retreated again to the current $156 level, placing it in the middle of its post-IPO trading range.

Immediate resistance is observed near $165, followed by a more significant ceiling around $190, where the last attempt at a bounce stalled. Support remains at $150, the same level that provided a floor during the sharpest phase of the recent sell-off.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is currently at 35.91, compared to a signal line of 46.20. This indicates that momentum is well below its average and firmly in weak territory based on the stock’s short trading history. The substantial negative divergence suggests that sellers are currently in control.

Overall momentum appears fragile rather than stabilizing. Given the recency of the listing, SpaceX will likely need to maintain the $150 support level and reclaim $190 before the $250 target can be considered more than a long-term bet on the company’s narrative rather than its immediate technical outlook.

The rotation is already underway, though its full impact may only be apparent in hindsight.

Large-cap cryptocurrencies are not failing but rather reaching market caps that limit further significant upside. Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP have been consolidating against similar resistance levels for weeks, while macroeconomic tailwinds continue to be delayed. Institutional inflows are being postponed to subsequent quarters. Holding assets whose performance relies on uncontrollable catalysts is akin to waiting rather than executing a strategy.

Capital that has experienced multiple market cycles tends to move proactively before a destination becomes obvious, rather than waiting at resistance levels.

Early-stage infrastructure projects operate on a fundamentally different financial model. A smaller market capitalization means that even a modest rotation can lead to dramatic price movements. This asymmetry arises because the market has not yet fully priced in the value of what is being developed. The returns are generated from the gap between the current valuation and the project’s true worth.

The fragmentation of multi-chain systems incurs significant daily costs for decentralized finance (DeFi). Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana maintain isolated liquidity systems with no native interoperability. Every user transferring value between these ecosystems incurs direct costs through fees, slippage, and failed transactions.

LiquidChain aims to consolidate these three networks into a single execution layer, enabling one deployment and full ecosystem access without cross-chain transaction taxes.

The market has not yet discovered this solution, which is the core premise of its potential.

The presale is priced at $0.01454, with over $820,000 raised to date. The term “ground floor” in this context refers to its current stage of development rather than a marketing slogan.

The company’s execution remains unproven, and adoption is uncertain, representing real risks that must be acknowledged. Established assets may offer a more predictable path to a visible ceiling. This opportunity, however, provides an earlier entry point into a project that is still in its foundational stages.

The presale is at $0.01454 with just over $820,000 raised. Ground floor is not a marketing phrase here. It is a description of where this actually sits in its lifecycle.

Execution is unproven. Adoption is unknown. Those risks are real and worth naming directly. Established assets offer a smoother ride toward a ceiling that is already visible. This offers an earlier seat at a table that has not been set yet.
