  • Crypto Market Dips: IBIT ETF Sees Major Outflow, Trump Actions Impact Prices.

Crypto Market Dips: IBIT ETF Sees Major Outflow, Trump Actions Impact Prices.

    Market Downturn

Cryptocurrency markets opened Thursday deep in the red, prompting traders to question the cause of the decline. Bitcoin briefly dipped below $73,000, with major altcoins such as Ethereum, Solana, XRP, and BNB following suit. The downturn coincided with a wave of liquidations, record outflows from the IBIT ETF, and escalating tensions between the United States and Iran following reported strikes in the Middle East.

    Trump’s Pro-Crypto Stance

Despite the market chaos, former President Donald Trump reiterated his pro-crypto stance, stating he would “never let crypto down” while criticizing former SEC Chair Gary Gensler. Trump also pledged to establish a future-proof digital asset framework.

    Liquidations and Market Volatility

The dominant narrative focused on the market’s decline, with CoinGlass data indicating $936 million in liquidations over the past 24 hours. Long positions accounted for $873 million of the sell-off. Bitcoin alone saw $355 million in liquidations, followed by Ethereum at $242 million. Solana, XRP, and BNB futures also experienced notable losses.

This decline occurred amid a broader risk-off shift in global markets. Geopolitical uncertainty related to the Trump-Iran situation pushed investors away from speculative assets, and crypto futures open interest decreased by 1.2%.

Pressure intensified ahead of Friday’s significant options expiry, with $7.5 billion in crypto contracts set to settle. Bitcoin’s max pain level is near $69,000, while Ethereum’s is under $2,000, potentially leading to increased volatility.

    Other Contributing Factors

Pump.fun continued to sell off SOL, dumping another 100,000 tokens worth $8.3 million as part of its $780 million sell-off campaign.

BlackRock’s IBIT ETF experienced its largest single-day outflow, shedding $527.8 million. The redemption extended the fund’s losing streak to eight consecutive trading days, bringing total outflows close to $1.8 billion. This contributed significantly to Bitcoin’s drop.

The IBIT ETF weakness coincided with rising Treasury yields and a flight from risk assets. While Grant Cardone’s firm reportedly purchased an additional 130 BTC during the dip, bullish narratives were overshadowed by the ETF selling pressure.

    Geopolitical Impact

Tensions between the United States and Iran further contributed to market weakness after reports of strikes in the Middle East. Bitcoin lost momentum below $73,000 as investors sought safer assets.

Trump continued to reinforce his support for crypto, criticizing Gensler and the “anti-crypto army” while promising to establish permanent digital asset market structure legislation.

Senator Cynthia Lummis urged Congress to send the Clarity Act to Trump immediately, warning that failure to pass the bill this session could undermine the United States’ position in the global crypto landscape.

    Long-Term Bullish Developments

Despite the sell-off, several long-term bullish developments persist. VanEck CEO Jan van Eck remains optimistic about Bitcoin’s long-term prospects, although he noted that 2026 historically aligns with the weaker phase of the four-year halving cycle. According to Van Eck, the current correction resembles a normal cycle reset.

Adoption metrics continue to rise, with crypto-linked payment cards reaching a record $7.8 billion in cumulative transaction volume. Monthly usage growth has surged 230% since May 2025.

Traditional finance remains active as well. Goldman Sachs recently raised its S&P 500 year-end target to 8,000, which could eventually benefit crypto markets.

In derivatives markets, some traders see potential upside. Ether shorts clustered near the $2,000 level could face a massive short squeeze worth nearly $2 billion if ETH reverses its current trend.

    Conclusion

Overall, the current market session highlights why the narrative of “crypto down” dominates in the short term. ETF outflows, leveraged liquidations, geopolitical stress, and options expiry volatility have created a challenging environment for risk assets. However, institutional adoption, regulatory progress, and expanding real-world crypto usage continue to advance.

  • Wood Reaffirms $1.25 Million Bitcoin Forecast

Wood Reaffirms $1.25 Million Bitcoin Forecast

Wood Defends $1.25 Million Bitcoin Forecast

ARK Invest CEO Cathie Wood has reiterated her bullish outlook for Bitcoin, maintaining that the cryptocurrency could reach $1.25 million within five years. She attributes this optimistic projection to institutional allocation, Bitcoin’s potential as a digital store of value, and its inherent scarcity.

Speaking on Fox Business In Depth: The Crypto Campaign on May 26, Wood clarified that the $1.25 million target represents ARK’s most optimistic scenario, rather than its base case. The firm’s base case, she said, is closer to $750,000. Wood framed the more ambitious target as a result of several converging trends: younger investors viewing Bitcoin as a digital store of value, emerging-market users seeking protection from monetary instability, and asset allocators increasingly recognizing crypto as a distinct investment category.

“The biggest reason is institutional adoption,” Wood said. “This is a new asset class. It has very low correlation to other asset classes in terms of risks and returns. And so every asset allocator has a responsibility to examine it because it will increase risk-adjusted returns over time.”

    Institutional Adoption and Digital Gold

The argument for institutional allocation has long been central to ARK’s Bitcoin thesis. Wood views Bitcoin’s role as extending beyond speculative gains, describing it as a potential substitute for gold as wealth transfers across generations, with younger investors more likely to embrace a “digital store of value.” She also characterized Bitcoin as “an insurance policy,” particularly for emerging markets facing what she described as “fiscal and monetary neglect at best or corruption at worst.”

Wood also linked Bitcoin’s potential growth to the expanding stablecoin market. However, she does not foresee an immediate displacement of the dollar. Instead, she argued that stablecoins could strengthen dollar distribution globally because major dollar-backed tokens are largely supported by US Treasuries.

“Because of stablecoins, the dollar will also be strong,” Wood said. “So effectively stablecoins, so USDC, Circle’s stablecoin, and USDT, Tether’s stablecoin, they are backed primarily by US Treasuries. So to the extent they become successful around the world, we’re going to be effectively exporting dollars. And that should be dollar positive.”

    Regulatory Framework and Supply Dynamics

Wood also highlighted the shift in asset allocation toward Bitcoin and other crypto assets, citing their low correlation with traditional markets. She believes that regulation, specifically the GENIUS Act and potentially the CLARITY Act, could establish a framework that encourages greater institutional participation in the crypto market. She noted that the administration aims to complete the CLARITY Act by July 4, though she expressed uncertainty about the timeline.

“I think once we do, because the odds have gone up recently that it will be passed, that we will see much more of an institutional swoosh into the space,” Wood said.

The ARK founder also emphasized Bitcoin’s supply mechanics, contrasting them with gold. She noted that approximately 20 million Bitcoin have already been mined out of the 21 million supply cap, leaving only about 1 million more to be issued. In contrast, gold supply increases by roughly 1% per year, and could potentially increase further in response to recent price gains.

“Bitcoin is mathematically metered,” Wood said. “There will be no supply response. It’s just mathematically metered. And right now it’s increasing at 0.9% roughly per year, which is lower than gold’s long term. And in the next two years we’ll be down to 0.45% increase per year.”

    Bitcoin vs. Gold

Wood acknowledged the debate over Bitcoin’s performance relative to gold during periods of macro stress, when gold has at times rallied while Bitcoin sold off. However, she argued that the relationship between the two assets remains weak over longer periods, citing a correlation of 0.14 since 2019, when institutions began considering Bitcoin more seriously as an asset class. She also noted that gold has tended to lead Bitcoin in recent cycles, and argued that the two may now be changing places as Bitcoin builds momentum while gold weakens. In her view, a stronger dollar could become a mild headwind for gold, while Bitcoin’s institutional adoption story continues to develop separately.

At the time of reporting, Bitcoin was trading at $75,034.

  • Trump’s Crypto Pledge Triggers Market Plunge

Trump’s Crypto Pledge Triggers Market Plunge

Former U.S. President Donald Trump claimed on Wednesday that he had “saved” the American crypto industry, alleging that former SEC Chair Gary Gensler and an “anti-crypto army” had nearly destroyed it by driving Bitcoin, crypto perpetuals, and innovation offshore. Trump made the statement on Truth Social.

“America is now the crypto capital of the world, and builders and entrepreneurs are coming back to the United States where they belong,” he added. “Under my leadership, we will codify a future-proof digital asset market structure that cannot be undone by the crypto haters. The new frontier of finance is being built in America, and Trump will never let crypto down!”

In a separate post, he stated, “where we are currently the crypto capital of the world, other countries are trying diligently to replace us in that capacity, but we won’t let that happen. It is a major industry, and we must protect it.”

    Market Reaction

Despite such pronouncements from a world leader typically causing market gains, the crypto market experienced a sharp downturn. The market fell nearly 3%, wiping out over $80 billion.

Over the past 24 hours, approximately 165,000 traders were liquidated, with total liquidations reaching $928 million, 93% of which were long positions, according to Coinglass.

Bitcoin dropped 3.2%, falling to $72,800, its lowest level since mid-April. The asset has now lost 8% over the past two weeks and is approaching the $60,000 zone.

    Bitcoin and Ethereum Performance

Bitcoin experienced a significant drop, falling below $73,000 in a 60-minute period. Over $480 million in long positions were liquidated.

Ethereum also fell below the $2,000 psychological level, declining more than 4.4% to $1,975, its lowest level since the end of March. Altcoins broadly declined as the bear market intensified.

“Retail has erupted with ‘buy the dip’ calls toward ETH as a result of this drop below a key psychological support level,” reported Santiment. “This typically means the price may have a bit further to fall, due to the crowd (which usually gets calls wrong) being too optimistic.”

    Geopolitical Factors

Market pressures were further exacerbated by a new wave of U.S. military strikes on Iran late Wednesday.

The strikes targeted an Iranian military site, and the U.S. shot down four Iranian drones near the Strait of Hormuz, according to Reuters.

“These actions were measured, purely defensive, and intended to maintain the ceasefire,” an official told the outlet. Iran retaliated by attacking a U.S. base in Kuwait.

  • XRP Plummets Amidst Surging Sell-Off

    XRP Plummets Amidst Surging Sell-Off

    XRP Price Dips Below $1.30

The price of XRP has continued its downward trend, trading below $1.30. The cryptocurrency is currently consolidating losses and facing resistance levels near $1.30 and $1.340.

XRP began another decline, falling below the $1.30 mark. It is now trading below this level and the 100-hourly Simple Moving Average. A bearish trend line is forming, with resistance at $1.340 on the hourly chart of the XRP/USD pair, according to data from Kraken. The pair could continue to decline if it remains below $1.340.

XRP failed to maintain its position above $1.340 and extended its decline, mirroring the trends of Bitcoin and Ethereum. The price dropped below $1.3250 and $1.3120, entering a short-term bearish zone. Losses extended below $1.30, with a low of $1.2677 recorded. The price is currently consolidating losses well below the 23.6% Fibonacci retracement level of the downward movement from the $1.3638 swing high to the $1.2677 low. XRP is trading below $1.30 and the 100-hourly Simple Moving Average.

    Potential Resistance Levels

If a recovery occurs, the price may encounter resistance near $1.290. The first major resistance level is near $1.30. The primary resistance could be at $1.3150, which aligns with the 50% Fibonacci retracement level of the downward move from the $1.3638 swing high to the $1.2677 low. A close above $1.3150 could potentially push the price towards $1.3275. The next hurdle is at $1.340, where a bearish trend line also presents resistance on the hourly chart of the XRP/USD pair. A decisive move above the $1.340 resistance could drive the price towards the $1.3550 resistance level. Further gains might lead to a test of the $1.3750 resistance.

    Potential for Further Losses

If XRP fails to surpass the $1.3150 resistance zone, a fresh decline could be initiated. Initial support on the downside is near $1.2675. The next significant support level is near $1.2550. A break below $1.2550 could see the price continue to decline towards $1.2320. The subsequent major support is near the $1.220 zone, below which the price could fall further to $1.20.

    Technical Indicators

    • Hourly MACD: The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) for XRP/USD is gaining momentum in the bearish zone.
    • Hourly RSI: The Relative Strength Index (RSI) for XRP/USD is currently below the 50 level.

    Key Levels

    • Major Support Levels: $1.2675 and $1.2550
    • Major Resistance Levels: $1.3150 and $1.3400

HYPE ETF Shatters Crypto Debut Records, Attracts Institutional Investors

HYPE Surges to New All-Time High, Driven by Record-Breaking ETF Debut

HYPE has surpassed $60, reaching a new all-time high amid a bullish environment that contrasts sharply with the broader market’s struggles with selling pressure and uncertainty. This breakout is significant, but data from Kairos Research reveals a development in the ETF market that places the current momentum in a historical context, amplifying the significance of the price action.

    Record-Setting ETF Inflows

The spot HYPE ETF has absorbed 1.04% of HYPE’s total market capitalization within its first ten trading days. This figure is particularly noteworthy when compared to other ETF launches. HYPE’s ETF has outperformed every spot crypto ETF launch on record, including the Bitcoin ETF, which was one of the most successful financial product launches in Wall Street history.

The data is measured on a new-issuer cohort basis, excluding legacy trust conversions like GBTC and ETHE to provide a more accurate comparison. The conclusion is clear: no spot crypto ETF has ever attracted institutional capital at the pace HYPE has generated in its first ten trading days. The all-time high above $60 reflects this demand, and the ETF data confirms it.

The Strongest Crypto ETF Debut in History

Kairos Research’s comparison highlights the following: HYPE absorbed 1.04% of its market cap in ten trading days, Bitcoin absorbed 0.59%, Ethereum absorbed 0.41%, and Solana absorbed 0.31%. HYPE outpaced every previous spot crypto ETF launch during the same debut window, including the Bitcoin product that attracted billions from major asset managers.

The significance extends beyond a statistical record. The ETF absorption rate, as a percentage of market cap, measures institutional appetite relative to the asset’s existing size. It normalizes for the difference in market capitalization between Bitcoin and HYPE, revealing how urgently institutions sought access to the asset once a regulated vehicle became available. HYPE’s performance indicates the most urgent demand on record, suggesting a significant number of institutional participants were specifically waiting for a compliant, brokerage-accessible vehicle.

For the broader institutionalization of crypto markets, the HYPE ETF debut is a pivotal data point. While Bitcoin and Ethereum demonstrated institutional demand for crypto ETFs, HYPE’s debut suggests that institutional interest is expanding beyond these legacy assets. Regulated capital is now willing to allocate to newer, utility-driven protocols when the necessary infrastructure exists. This expansion of institutional appetite beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum is what the 1.04% figure truly represents.

HYPE Enters Price Discovery as Momentum Accelerates

HYPE continues its breakout, pushing into new all-time highs above $60. The daily chart shows one of the strongest momentum structures currently visible in the crypto market. Price has surged aggressively from the April consolidation zone near $35, nearly doubling in value within weeks, while most major altcoins struggle below key resistance levels.

Technically, the structure remains decisively bullish. HYPE is trading well above all major moving averages, with the 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day averages aligned in a strong upward trend beneath the price, reflecting sustained momentum. The recent breakout above the previous resistance cluster near $52 triggered a sharp expansion in both price and volume, confirming strong market participation.

The chart also highlights that each corrective phase since March has produced higher lows, reinforcing the broader bullish trend. Buyers have consistently defended pullbacks before new momentum legs emerged, a behavior typical of assets undergoing strong institutional and speculative accumulation. Volume surged significantly during the latest breakout phase, signaling renewed demand as HYPE entered price discovery territory with limited historical resistance. As long as the price holds above the previous breakout region near $52–$55, momentum remains firmly in control of bulls. However, the speed of the rally also increases the probability of short-term volatility spikes and profit-taking.

  • Analyst Predicts Dogecoin Breakout

    Analyst Predicts Dogecoin Breakout

As Dogecoin (DOGE) attempts to maintain a critical support level, one analyst has identified potentially bullish technical patterns that could signal a significant price movement in the coming months.

Historical Setup Suggests Potential for Major Expansion

On Wednesday, Dogecoin continued its sideways trading pattern within the $0.100-$0.105 range. The cryptocurrency has been consolidating in this area for the past four days, after recovering from a one-month low of $0.097 recorded on Saturday.

Market analyst Trader Tardigrade expressed a bullish outlook for the cryptocurrency, analyzing DOGE’s chart across multiple timeframes. He highlighted a “textbook” falling wedge pattern on the daily timeframe, which has been developing since early May. The analyst noted that this pattern is “one of the most reliable bullish reversal patterns,” with breakouts “almost always lead[ing] to explosive upside.”

Dogecoin has been consolidating within this pattern for several weeks and is currently near its apex, while also retesting the upper boundary of the formation. Based on this, the analyst suggested that DOGE is “coiled and ready” for a breakout and a potential rally to at least the May highs.

Trader Tardigrade also shared the memecoin’s monthly chart, asserting that “a massive surge is coming.” He stated that Dogecoin appears to be repeating a setup that has previously led to significant gains. According to the chart, the cryptocurrency is forming a new solid base structure, suggesting that a breakout and rally towards new highs could begin in the coming months. Notably, this structure previously formed before the 2017 and 2021 all-time high (ATH) rallies.

As the new multi-year base develops, the analyst stated that DOGE is in “the best accumulation period,” adding that “every single time DOGE entered an accumulation zone, it consolidated sideways before exploding into a parabolic rally.” He noted that this pattern has appeared in 2015-2017, 2019-2020, 2023-2024, and “always leads to an explosion.”

    DOGE’s Short-Term Outlook

In a post on X, market analyst Ali Martinez stated that Dogecoin “looks ready for a deeper price correction.” He noted that the cryptocurrency has been trading between $0.088 and $0.115 over the past three months, forming a parallel channel.

During the April-May market rally, the leading memecoin climbed from the channel’s lower half towards its upper boundary, briefly breaking above this crucial resistance in mid-May before retracing. Following the latest rejection, the cryptocurrency dropped to the channel’s mid-range around $0.102, falling below this level during last week’s pullback. This area aligns with the 50-day Simple Moving Average (SMA), which has served as a key support during the recent market recovery.

Therefore, the analyst highlighted the importance of this level, asserting that if it holds, investors could expect a rebound towards the top of the channel. Conversely, he warned that if Dogecoin falls below this level, a retest of the channel’s lower boundary would be likely.

As of this writing, DOGE is trading at $0.101, reflecting a 2.4% decline in the weekly timeframe.

  • XRP Could Surge to $100, Reshaping Market Cap Discussions

XRP Could Surge to $100, Reshaping Market Cap Discussions

XRP’s potential to reach $100 is sparking debate among analysts, particularly regarding the applicability of traditional market capitalization models. One expert posits that if XRP becomes widely adopted for payments and settlements, its role will evolve into that of financial infrastructure. Consequently, the cryptocurrency’s value would be determined more by network usage and transaction volume than by market capitalization alone.

XRP at $100 Could Happen Without a High Market Cap

In a May 24th post on X, crypto market expert Gina argued that XRP’s value should not be assessed using conventional market capitalization models. She contends that the token is designed to serve as global financial infrastructure, not a passive store of value. According to Gina, XRP’s true strength lies not in its price or total valuation, but in its frequency of use for cross-network money transfers.

To illustrate her point, Gina presented a hypothetical scenario where XRP trades at $100 with a circulating supply of 50 billion tokens. This would result in a market capitalization of approximately $5 trillion, exceeding that of Bitcoin and Ethereum. However, Gina argued that market cap alone does not fully represent the total value processed daily by the XRP Ledger (XRPL). She emphasized XRP’s liquidity velocity, suggesting that if each XRP token were reused approximately 1,000 times daily for cross-border settlements, the network could theoretically support up to $5 quadrillion in daily transaction flows without requiring a higher market cap.

Based on this concept, XRP’s value as a payment and settlement tool could significantly surpass what market capitalization alone suggests. A $5 trillion market cap, she explained, only reflects the total paper value of XRP at a given price and does not indicate the actual amount of money a network can process or move through repeated transactions, which Gina believes is the true measure of XRP’s value.

Comparing XRP Market Cap Argument With SWIFT

In her post, Gina drew a comparison between XRP and the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT), the global banking messaging network. She noted that SWIFT, unlike cryptocurrencies, does not have a market capitalization because it is not an investment asset, yet trillions of dollars move through its system daily.

Gina suggested that XRP could function similarly, serving as a bridge asset to facilitate rapid transaction settlements across different currencies and tokenized financial products for institutions. She stressed that XRP should not be categorized alongside assets like gold or Bitcoin, which are often considered long-term stores of value. Instead, she described XRP as infrastructure for a future tokenized economy.

Under this framework, Gina argued that traditional market cap calculations become less relevant, as utility-driven networks are measured by usage and throughput. She further claimed that if XRP were used to power even a small portion of the global derivatives markets or institutional settlement systems, the market cap valuation model would become obsolete.

  • David Hoffman Explains Ethereum’s Exit Strategy

David Hoffman Explains Ethereum’s Exit Strategy

Bankless co-founder David Hoffman has sold his Ether holdings, citing his belief that the “ETH is money” thesis has largely played out. Despite this move, Hoffman maintains a strong bullish outlook on Ethereum as a network.

    Rationale for the Sale

Hoffman, who has built his career and community around Ethereum, stated that the decision was not made lightly. In a recent tweet, he explained that the “ETH is money” thesis hinged on Ethereum’s success across various coordination layers, including decentralized leadership, governance, Layer 2 ecosystems, roadmap execution, and technological development.

Hoffman contrasted Ethereum with Bitcoin, noting that Bitcoin prioritized simplifying its blockchain to maximize the value of BTC, while Ethereum pursued a more ambitious path by expanding utility across decentralized applications, finance, tokenization, and infrastructure. He acknowledged that Ethereum has achieved part of its vision and earned its current market capitalization, but suggested that the opportunity for ETH to be significantly revalued higher by the market is diminishing.

    Broader Crypto Market Dynamics

The Bankless co-founder also pointed to the broader crypto market, noting that the “strong version” of crypto, which focused on decentralized finance, NFTs, DAOs, and crypto-native systems, failed to maintain long-term mainstream support outside the 2020-2022 period. He attributed this to crypto’s association with scams, grifts, and speculative behavior, which weakened the social belief system necessary for ETH to function as global money.

Hoffman further stated that Ether’s utility increasingly benefits other forms of money, particularly stablecoins and tokenized dollars, rather than ETH itself. He described Ethereum as a “giver, not a taker,” emphasizing that the network provides secure blockspace, tokenization infrastructure, and DeFi support at minimal cost, rather than maximizing value for ETH holders. He believes Ethereum’s architecture prioritizes applications, rollups, and ecosystem growth over ETH itself, making it challenging for the underlying crypto asset to fully achieve global money status without overwhelming market dominance.

    Market Sentiment and Uncertainty

Hoffman’s decision comes amid intensifying bearish sentiment surrounding Ethereum. A recent report by Santiment found that social media discussions have shifted from optimism to frustration and concerns about further downside.

The analytics firm noted that traders increasingly view ETH as “dead money” compared to better-performing crypto assets in 2024, with weakening ETF flows, declining on-chain activity, and growing competition from ecosystems like Solana and BNB Chain adding pressure on sentiment.

Rumors of prominent Ethereum figures reducing or exiting ETH positions, including discussions surrounding Hoffman, have also contributed to rising market uncertainty, particularly as traders worry about insiders losing confidence in the asset.

  • Hyperliquid Hits New High, Eyes Ethereum’s Spot

Hyperliquid Hits New High, Eyes Ethereum’s Spot

Hyperliquid (HYPE) recently entered the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, joining the ranks of Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), after its price surpassed $50 and reached a new all-time high. On-chain analytics platforms are now examining HYPE’s potential price if it surpasses Ethereum’s market cap.

Hyperliquid’s Potential Price if It Surpasses Ethereum’s Market Cap

Hyperliquid’s price surged past $50 a few days ago, surpassing Dogecoin to become the ninth-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization. This marks the first time the token has traded above this level since late October 2025.

Currently, HYPE has extended its rally beyond $60. This breakout reflects a significant shift in trading activity, as well as renewed interest and confidence in DeFi protocols and AI-backed tokens. HYPE’s return to this historic price range also suggests increased engagement with Hyperliquid’s perpetual futures DEX.

The recent rally in HYPE has drawn renewed attention to Ethereum, one of Hyperliquid’s primary competitors in the crypto and DeFi space. While Ethereum remains a dominant benchmark for decentralized applications, Hyperliquid is specifically designed for financial trading and derivatives.

Data from Marketcapof suggests that HYPE’s price could reach approximately $1,127 if its market capitalization of $15.99 billion surpasses Ethereum’s, which is around $250.99 billion. This would represent a 17.92x increase from current levels. In more extreme scenarios, with market euphoria at its peak, estimates place HYPE as high as $2,633, a gain of about 42x from current prices.

    Competition Intensifies

Hyperliquid has been strengthening its market position as capital shifts from major assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum toward newer, high-growth protocols. HYPE’s recent performance reflects both the growing adoption of its DEX platform and a broader shift in liquidity across the crypto sector.

A key driver behind the bullish momentum was the launch of spot HYPE ETFs by investment management firms Bitwise and 21Shares in May. These products have attracted millions of dollars in inflows, indicating steady institutional demand for HYPE amid increased derivatives activity.

Earlier in the year, market volatility linked to the US-Iran war triggered record perpetual futures volume on Hyperliquid, pushing platform activity to new highs. Liquidity conditions also improved after Coinbase, the world’s largest crypto exchange, became the official USDC provider on Hyperliquid.

Against this backdrop, Ethereum’s dominance is waning. The cryptocurrency’s price has struggled to maintain momentum, falling roughly 30% year-to-date. ETF flow data reflects this shift, with approximately $1 billion exiting Bitcoin and Ethereum products while XRP and HYPE funds recorded about $94 million in combined inflows.

  • Crypto Markets Plunge Amid Bearish Sentiment

Crypto Markets Plunge Amid Bearish Sentiment

Tuesday saw a significant downturn in the cryptocurrency market, with a broad sell-off impacting various altcoins. Zcash (ZEC) led the decline, dropping 11%, followed by World Liberty Financial’s WLFI, which fell 8%, and Ondo Finance (ONDO), down 7%.

    Bearish Sentiment Rises

The losses occurred amid growing bearish sentiment among investors. Blockchain analytics firm Santiment noted that such sentiment has historically preceded price rebounds. Santiment highlighted the declines of Ondo, Zcash, WLFI, and DeXe, among others, in a post on X.

    Ondo Finance Faces Setback

Ondo Finance’s drop came shortly after the death of its 32-year-old founder and CEO, Nathan Allman. The company announced that Ian De Bode, the longtime president, will take over as CEO. The token is currently trading near $0.41, representing a gain of approximately 9% over the past seven days.

    Zcash and WLFI Performance

Zcash’s 11% single-day drop was the steepest among the mentioned assets. However, the decline was approximately 7.5% over the last 24 hours, with ZEC trading around $570. The asset is up 60% over the past month and nearly 970% over the past year. WLFI’s 8% dip added to the token’s recent struggles, having reached a new all-time low in late April after a 16% single-day crash. The token has also faced a controversial lock-up proposal, a lawsuit from Tron’s Justin Sun, and ongoing scrutiny over its ties to the Trump family.

    Other Tokens Show Gains

Despite the losses, some tokens showed positive performance over the week. NEAR was up more than 55% over seven days, trading around $2.50, although it declined nearly 8% on Tuesday. Hyperliquid’s HYPE token also saw gains, increasing 25% according to Santiment’s data. RAIN was the week’s standout performer, reaching an all-time high of around $0.012 on Tuesday, with a weekly increase of almost 55% and a 24-hour increase of over 44%.

    Market Outlook

Santiment’s data indicated that bearish expectations have been building for about 10 days. The firm noted that this collective caution has historically preceded price recoveries, as markets often move against the prevailing sentiment. However, traders will be watching to see if this pattern holds, especially with Bitcoin remaining below $77,000 and struggling to break above its 200-day moving average near $80,000.
