RippleX Revives Risky Features: Can Validators Trust the Rewrite?

RippleX Prepares Major Update with Revamped Security Features

RippleX is gearing up to release xrpld version 3.3.0 the week of August 1, 2026, a significant update that includes five proposed amendments for validator consideration. Among these are rewritten versions of the Batch and Permission Delegation features, both of which were previously halted before mainnet activation due to critical authorization flaws identified by security researchers. No funds were lost as a result of these vulnerabilities. The upcoming release now hinges on whether the XRP Ledger ecosystem has sufficient trust in the revised implementations to achieve the required 80% validator approval threshold.

Batch Amendment: Addressing Signature Validation Flaws

The original Batch amendment contained a bug in its signature validation logic. This flaw could have allowed an attacker to execute internal transactions from any victim account without possessing the victim’s private keys. According to an official XRPL vulnerability disclosure, researcher Pranamya Keshkamat and Cantina AI’s autonomous audit tool Apex identified this issue on February 19, 2026, while the amendment was still undergoing the voting process. UNL validators were subsequently advised to vote against it, and an emergency release, rippled 3.1.1, was issued to mark both Batch and its related fixBatchInnerSigs amendment as unsupported, thereby preventing any activation path.

The root cause of the Batch vulnerability was identified as a loop-exit error. When the code encountered a new account whose signing key matched its own, it incorrectly declared success and exited without verifying the remaining signers. This meant that a forged signer entry for any victim account would go unchecked. The exploit path could have enabled an attacker to drain a victim’s account down to its minimum reserve through unauthorized Payment transactions. The replacement, BatchV1_1, has been redesigned with revised authorization logic and is currently flagged in the 3.3 development registry as supported, with a default “No” vote pending validator approval.

Permission Delegation: Rectifying Fee Deduction Errors

Permission Delegation presented a different security concern. A disclosure in September 2025 detailed how an invalid offline-signed transaction could still incur a transaction fee on the delegated account before failing authorization. This occurred because the code checked permissions prior to verifying the signature, and tec-type errors are designed to carry a fee. A malicious actor could have exploited this by repeatedly submitting such transactions with elevated fees, silently depleting a victim account’s XRP balance. The fix reclassifies the relevant error from tec to ter and reorders the checks to ensure no fee is deducted before signature verification. The replacement, PermissionDelegationV1_1, carries the same default “No” designation in the 3.3.0 registry. This pattern of identifying and addressing bugs before mainnet activation aligns with the XRPL’s ongoing security maintenance practices, which have included multiple hotfix releases to resolve protocol-level issues.

    New Amendments Target Institutional Tokenization

The remaining three amendments in the xrpld 3.3.0 release are new features designed to cater to the institutional tokenization market. Confidential MPT (Multi-Purpose Token) utilizes elliptic-curve cryptography and zero-knowledge proofs to keep balances and transfer amounts of MPTs private on the public ledger, while still allowing for auditability by designated entities, such as regulators. This feature directly addresses a primary concern for financial institutions evaluating public blockchain infrastructure: the visibility of counterparty exposure. It is intended for tokenized government bonds, real estate, equities, and private credit – asset classes where confidentiality is a fundamental operational requirement.

Sponsored Fees and Reserves will enable banks, issuers, or platforms to cover transaction fees and reserve requirements on behalf of their users, thereby eliminating the need for end-users to hold XRP to transact. This is expected to significantly reduce onboarding friction for institutional deployments. However, it also reignites a structural debate about demand dynamics, as a reduced need for end-users to hold XRP could shift demand towards institutional settlement volume rather than retail token utility.

Dynamic MPT is the third new amendment, allowing token issuers to modify specific properties, fees, metadata, and predefined parameters after issuance without needing to migrate to a new token.

Jazzi Cooper, RippleX’s head of product, announced the five amendments on X, emphasizing that the XRP Ledger has already proven its capability to support tokenized assets at scale. She framed the new features as crucial infrastructure for global transfers, trading, collateralization, and settlement. Cooper confirmed that all five amendments require validator voting before they can be activated.

  • Binance-Affiliated Firms Sue RedotPay Founders for $473 Million Over Alleged User Diversion

Binance-Affiliated Firms Sue RedotPay Founders for $473 Million Over Alleged User Diversion

Binance-affiliated companies have initiated a lawsuit in Hong Kong against the co-founders of RedotPay, seeking approximately $473 million in damages. The central allegation is that RedotPay diverted over 470,000 users from Binance Card by enabling them to fund RedotPay’s payment cards through Binance Pay, which allegedly violated an existing commercial agreement.

The legal action was filed by Nest Trading, Distributed Technologies Ltd., and Chaintecs Consulting Singapore against RedotPay’s co-founders Gao Zhangpeng, Chan Wa Choi, and Yao Chao. According to court filings cited by Bloomberg, the plaintiffs calculated the claimed damages using a lifetime customer value of $925 for each allegedly diverted user. Chaintecs has also commenced a related case in Singapore.

Binance reportedly discontinued Binance Pay features and functionality on the RedotPay platform from April 3, 2026. The precise terms of the commercial agreement between Binance and RedotPay remain unclear, and it is uncertain whether RedotPay’s actions were intentional or accidental. The outcomes of the legal proceedings in Hong Kong and Singapore are yet to be determined.

This dispute emerges as RedotPay has been actively expanding its presence in the crypto payments sector and preparing for a potential public listing. The company was reportedly in talks to raise up to $150 million. In the preceding year, RedotPay secured $194 million across two funding rounds in September and December 2025. By December 2025, RedotPay’s annualized total payment volume had surpassed $10 billion, marking a 300% year-over-year increase.

RedotPay was reportedly targeting a U.S. initial public offering (IPO) that could value the business at over $4 billion. Financial institutions including JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and Jefferies Financial Group were said to be advising RedotPay on this potential New York listing, which could occur as early as the current year. Investors in RedotPay include Coinbase Ventures, Circle Ventures, and Blockchain Capital.

Meanwhile, Binance continues to expand its market reach and product offerings. The exchange reported a registered user base of 323 million across more than 100 countries, with a 7% increase in users during the first half of 2026. Institutional users also saw a significant rise of 9% in the same period. Binance’s cumulative trading volume reached $156 trillion, with an additional $11.4 trillion added in the first six months of 2026. Furthermore, its traditional finance products have generated over $80 billion in monthly trading volume since March, and its stock trading service, launched in June, achieved $1 billion in assets under management within its first month.

The lawsuit highlights significant contractual and business practice questions within the competitive crypto payments industry. The success of RedotPay’s fundraising and potential public listing efforts may be impacted by these ongoing legal challenges, underscoring the importance of clear agreements and the potential risks associated with rapid growth and user acquisition strategies in the fintech space.

  • BlackRock’s ETH ETF Split Aims to Reduce Trading Costs; Ethereum Faces Resistance

BlackRock’s ETH ETF Split Aims to Reduce Trading Costs; Ethereum Faces Resistance

BlackRock has filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for a one-for-three reverse share split of its iShares Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHA). This action, reported on October 6, aims to consolidate three existing shares into one, increasing the per-share Net Asset Value (NAV) without altering investor holdings or the fund’s total assets. The primary objective, as noted by Bloomberg Senior ETF Analyst Eric Balchunas, is to reduce trading friction by lowering the bid-ask spread from approximately 7 basis points to 2 basis points.

This adjustment is considered a structural improvement to institutional access to Ethereum, potentially influencing demand for the spot market. ETHA currently manages over $5 billion in assets under management (AUM). While the reduction in trading costs is a development for accessibility, its direct impact on Ethereum’s price remains subject to market conditions and broader uncertainties.

Ethereum’s price is currently consolidating below a key resistance level. In the last 24 hours, Ether traded around $1,871.32, down 0.66%, with its trading range confined between $1,861.59 and $1,880.32. This consolidation suggests the market is in a period of preparation before its next directional decision. The $1,900 level is currently acting as resistance, a threshold Ethereum has tested without a decisive break in recent weeks.

Evidence suggests that a sustained daily close above $1,900 could potentially open the door for further upside, with $2,200 as a possible next target. Above that, heavier resistance is noted from the March to May distribution range, around $2,400. Conversely, on the downside, the June low, situated between $1,550 and $1,600, represents a crucial support floor. A break below this level could push ETH into multi-year lows, with limited support anticipated below.

The recovery from the June lows has been the most constructive price action for Ethereum in months. However, clearing the $1,900 resistance convincingly is necessary to shift the narrative from a potential ‘dead cat bounce’ to a genuine trend reversal attempt. For traders, chasing current levels may present an asymmetric risk/reward scenario, and uncertainty remains regarding the market’s next directional move.

While the reduction in trading costs for BlackRock’s ETH ETF addresses fragmentation issues, similar to those targeted by L3 infrastructure plays like LiquidChain (LIQUID), Ethereum’s immediate price trajectory hinges on its ability to overcome current resistance levels. The market is observing whether these structural improvements translate into sustained demand and a positive price trend for Ether.

  • XRP Stalls Near Multi-Week Lows; $1.05 Target in Focus

XRP Stalls Near Multi-Week Lows; $1.05 Target in Focus

XRP Price Stuck Grinding Near Multi-Week Lows: What Happens at $1.05 Next?

Ripple’s XRP is currently trading at $1.0648, marking a 1.22% decline over the past 24 hours. Technical indicators are offering no compelling buy signals ahead of potential price movements.

The cryptocurrency has spent weeks consolidating near the lower end of a trading range that extends from highs above $2.50. Every attempt at recovery has faltered before reaching the $1.10 mark. The price action over the next 48 hours around the $1.05–$1.06 support band is likely to dictate the next significant directional move.

XRP has formed a tight consolidation pattern near its recent lows, with no confirmed reversal structure in sight. The derivatives market provides little clarity, showing neutral funding rates, reduced leverage, and a balanced liquidation landscape. This suggests that a rapid price squeeze in either direction is unlikely. Broader cryptocurrency sentiment and market capitalization data place XRP in sixth position overall, with a market cap of approximately $66 billion and a 24-hour trading volume close to $977 million.

The ongoing regulatory uncertainty surrounding Ripple and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) continues to cast a shadow over the market. While no new filings have been made in the last 48 hours, the unresolved nature of the case is dampening institutional enthusiasm. Any shift in broader market risk appetite is expected to impact XRP directly.

XRP’s price of $1.0648 places it uncomfortably close to a support zone that has been in place since late June. The $1.05 to $1.06 range has seen multiple buyer interventions, including a brief dip below this level on July 28 that was quickly reversed. However, this bounce failed to sustain above $1.10, a critical level for any bullish narrative to gain momentum.

The daily Relative Strength Index (RSI) stands at 43.71, below the neutral 50 level and its own moving average of 44.87, indicating weakness rather than oversold conditions. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) presents a similar picture. The MACD line is hovering near -0.0110, just below the signal line at -0.0101, with a histogram reading of approximately -0.0009. This suggests soft momentum rather than a collapse, a frustrating scenario for traders seeking a clear directional entry point.

A sustained hold above $1.06 on a daily closing basis, coupled with increased volume to signal genuine buying interest, and a reclaim of the $1.10 level could reopen the path to the $1.18 to $1.20 range. A likely catalyst for such a move would be a broader shift towards risk-on sentiment in the market or a significant development in the Ripple-SEC case.

Given the neutral derivatives market and fading volume, continued range trading between $1.05 and $1.10 with low conviction from either side appears to be the more probable near-term scenario. A daily close below $1.05 would expose the psychologically significant $1.00 level and the late-June lows near $1.01. While the July 28 wick demonstrated buyer presence at these levels, a second test of such an area rarely holds as firmly as the first.

The current market setup favors patience. AI-driven price models for XRP’s 90-day trajectory also highlight this consolidation zone as a critical decision point, aligning with the visual cues from the chart. XRP’s price could resolve in either direction, but the onus is on the bulls to demonstrate upward momentum.

For investors holding capital on the sidelines awaiting a directional break, early-stage presale opportunities have been drawing attention. This is particularly true for traders observing the underperformance of large-cap altcoins while smaller market cap launches have seen significant gains.

Maxi Doge (MAXI), an Ethereum-based meme token, has carved out a niche by targeting the intersection of leveraged trading culture and meme coin community dynamics. The project has raised over $4.8 million at a presale price of $0.0002832, offering a dynamic staking Annual Percentage Yield (APY) to presale participants. Features include exclusive trading competitions for holders, a Maxi Fund treasury for liquidity and partnerships, and a meme-centric marketing approach that has generated organic traction.

While tokenomics and launch execution carry inherent presale risks, the raised capital and community-driven structure provide a more robust foundation than many meme coin launches at this stage. Traders seeking asymmetric opportunities while XRP consolidates may find Maxi Doge worth researching.

  • Crypto Trading Volumes Decline in 2026, DEX Share Grows

Crypto Trading Volumes Decline in 2026, DEX Share Grows

Crypto trading volumes have significantly decreased in 2026, reaching lows not seen since the beginning of the year, with ongoing debate about the underlying causes and implications for the market. Daily spot trading volumes across 44 tracked exchanges have fallen to approximately $15 billion, a 70% decrease from peak levels observed in January. The average daily volume trend has also declined by 50% since December 2025, settling around $20 billion.

This downturn is accompanied by a notable shift in market dynamics, as decentralized exchanges (DEXs) have increased their share of total trading activity. According to data from The Block, DEX volume has climbed from a ratio near 20% in April to about 24% in July and surged to over 46% so far in August. This trend suggests a migration of activity from centralized platforms to decentralized ones.

While overall trading volumes have contracted, some segments of the crypto market show resilience. Stablecoin volume and active addresses have both increased from the previous month. Furthermore, the number of holders of tokenized real-world assets jumped by 51% in the last 30 days, reaching 1.57 million. This suggests that while speculative trading activity may be waning, the underlying user base and interest in specific asset classes are growing.

Major cryptocurrencies are trading well below their all-time highs. Bitcoin (BTC) is currently priced near $64,000, representing a 2% increase in the past 24 hours but a nearly 50% decline from its October 2025 peak. Ethereum (ETH) is trading around $1,900, down 62% from its highest point. Other significant assets like XRP and Solana (SOL) have experienced even steeper declines, dropping 70% and 75% from their respective all-time highs.

Interpretations of these trends vary among market participants. Some, like pseudonymous researcher Emperor Osmo, argue that the drop in trading volume on centralized exchanges (CEXs) primarily reflects changing exchange dynamics, with CEXs losing market share to DEXs. Trader Jeff made a related point, noting that stablecoin volume and active addresses are up, suggesting that “the traders left, but the users stayed.” Jake O, head of OTC at Wintermute, called the current market conditions a healthy shakeout, where volume consolidating on stronger venues is a net positive for the industry.

Conversely, some observers view the decline as indicative of a longer-term move away from crypto, with artificial intelligence emerging as a stronger competitor for investor attention and capital. However, other participants, including Korean trader Frontier Bet, believe that regulatory developments, such as the potential approval of the CLARITY Act, could attract capital back into crypto markets. The legislative path for such acts remains uncertain, particularly following recent political developments involving proposed ethics provisions.

Key uncertainties remain regarding the precise drivers of the overall decline in crypto trading activity and the long-term impact of competing technologies like AI. The completeness of August’s DEX volume figures also requires further clarification. Despite these uncertainties, the data indicates a significant contraction in trading volumes and a clear shift in market structure towards decentralized platforms.

  • XRP Price Analysis: AI Forecasts Navigate Uncertainties and Market Factors

XRP Price Analysis: AI Forecasts Navigate Uncertainties and Market Factors

The reliability of artificial intelligence-driven price predictions for cryptocurrencies like XRP, such as those from Microsoft Copilot AI forecasting a 2026 price range of $5 to $8, remains subject to a confluence of uncertain regulatory, technological, and market factors. While AI models can process vast amounts of data to identify potential trends, their forecasts are inherently speculative and contingent on numerous variables that are difficult to predict.

    Why This Matters

The materials describe a narrow update: Microsoft Copilot AI predicts XRP could reach $5 to $8 by the end of 2026, a significant increase from its current price. Whether the four pillars for XRP’s bull case will converge.

    Broader Context

Source materials place the market analysis in this context: Microsoft Copilot AI.

    Factors Influencing XRP’s Trajectory

Microsoft Copilot AI predicts that XRP could reach between $5 and $8 by the end of 2026. This outlook is based on several potential catalysts. These include anticipated inflows into Bitcoin Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs), which have already exceeded $2 billion, the prospect of regulatory clarity in the United States, potentially through legislation like the CLARITY Act, and Ripple’s strategic expansion into new markets, such as Japan with its planned RLUSD stablecoin. Furthermore, the ongoing growth of asset tokenization on the XRP Ledger and potential supply contraction are considered contributing factors. Copilot combines these with the possibility of broader market tailwinds from a Bitcoin rally.

However, the AI also outlines a bear case scenario. This scenario suggests that stalled regulatory progress, competition from Ripple’s own stablecoin offerings, or a tightening macroeconomic environment could cap XRP’s price between $0.85 and $1.50. Copilot still calls the bullish trajectory the more likely path, projecting a base case of $2.50 to $4.50, with the potential for higher prices if institutional adoption accelerates.

Current Market Snapshot and Historical Context

Currently, XRP is trading near the midpoint of the AI’s flagged bear case range. The price closed at $1.07051, down 0.41% in its recent session, with trading occurring between $1.06900 and $1.08092. Technical indicators suggest a neutral momentum. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) reads near 47, with the signal line close behind at 49. This indicates that momentum has flattened, with price action grinding sideways rather than showing strong directional conviction. For the bullish $5 to $8 prediction to materialize, XRP would first need to reclaim key resistance levels, notably the $1.20 mark, which it has not closed above in two months. Support is identified at the $1.00 level, a price point that has held firm on multiple tests since June.

Past price action provides further context. XRP experienced a significant peak above $2.40 in January, followed by a sharp decline in February that halved its price. Subsequent rallies in April, May, and July saw progressively lower highs, topping out near $1.65, $1.55, and $1.35 respectively. The current price action reflects this pattern of consolidation.

Understanding Market Exposure and Trading Limitations

The analysis of AI predictions also highlights broader market dynamics. Traditional spot trading exposes investors to a wide array of factors beyond the specific asset’s fundamentals, including liquidity, market sentiment, and unrelated global events. Platforms like Kalshi, a CFTC-regulated exchange, offer event trading where prices are set by traders taking real positions, potentially allowing odds to move before headlines. However, event trading carries its own risks; contracts can expire worthless, and being directionally correct on a slow timeline does not guarantee profit if the contract’s expiration is missed.

Ultimately, the AI’s price prediction for XRP serves as a starting point for analysis rather than a definitive forecast. The confluence of regulatory developments, technological advancements by Ripple, broader market sentiment, and macroeconomic conditions will collectively shape XRP’s future trajectory. Investors should focus on understanding these underlying factors and uncertainties rather than solely on specific price targets.

  • OpenAI Accused of Leaking Apple Employee Texts in Trade Secret Fight

OpenAI Accused of Leaking Apple Employee Texts in Trade Secret Fight

OpenAI has publicly challenged Apple’s trade secrets lawsuit, releasing emails, text messages, and a detailed rebuttal that accuses the iPhone maker of factual errors prior to filing its complaint.

    Rebuttal to Apple’s Claims

In a blog post published Monday, OpenAI stated that Apple had confused two employees with similar names, falsely claimed the company ignored its outreach, and incorrectly asserted that Apple’s external counsel had spoken with OpenAI General Counsel Che Chang before initiating legal action.

The release of emails and text messages follows Apple’s lawsuit filed in July. Apple accused OpenAI, former Apple engineer Chang Liu, former Apple design executive Tang Tan, and io Products of misappropriating hardware trade secrets as OpenAI expanded its consumer hardware initiatives after acquiring Jony Ive’s startup in 2025.

“Apple is one of the greatest companies of all time, and built a reputation for obsessing over the smallest details,” OpenAI wrote. “This careless, aggressive and oddly personal lawsuit sadly doesn’t live up to that reputation.”

    Allegations in Apple’s Lawsuit

In its lawsuit, Apple alleged that former Apple engineer Chang Liu retained a company laptop after his departure, exploited an authentication bug to access Apple’s internal systems, and downloaded confidential engineering documents. The lawsuit also claimed that former Apple executive Tang Tan used confidential Apple information to benefit OpenAI’s hardware efforts and that the company’s recruitment process encouraged prospective hires to bring sensitive Apple materials.

    OpenAI’s Counterarguments

OpenAI disputes these allegations, asserting that Apple contacted the wrong individual after confusing two employees with similar surnames and incorrectly claimed its lawyers had communicated with OpenAI General Counsel Che Chang before filing suit.

To support its position, OpenAI published iMessage exchanges between Liu and Apple employees sent after he left the company in January. These messages show Apple employees asking for assistance with locating files, transferring documents, and answering technical questions. OpenAI contends these conversations undermine Apple’s claims that Liu improperly retained access to confidential information.

According to OpenAI, these exchanges demonstrate that Apple employees relied on Liu’s access, and any remaining access was a result of Apple’s own offboarding process rather than deliberate misconduct.

Regarding Tan, OpenAI stated that the former Apple executive was repeatedly instructed not to bring or use confidential information from his previous employer. The company also argued that Apple’s request for a preliminary injunction, which could restrict OpenAI’s activities during the legal proceedings, is unnecessary.

“Apple’s request for a preliminary injunction is both based on false information and completely unnecessary because we do not have, nor want, any of their trade secrets,” the company wrote. “We’re much more interested in building innovative products and technologies that push the frontier.”
