  • XRP Price Outlook: AI Forecasts $1.20 by Year-End 2026 Amidst Market Uncertainty

XRP Price Outlook: AI Forecasts $1.20 by Year-End 2026 Amidst Market Uncertainty

Claude AI has projected that XRP will conclude 2026 trading around the $1.20 mark. This AI-driven forecast, however, is tempered by current market data, which suggests a more cautious outlook and a lower probability of XRP reaching significantly higher price targets.

As of mid-August 2026, XRP is priced at approximately $1.00. This current valuation represents a decline of about 72% from its all-time high of roughly $3.65, achieved in July 2025. The daily trading volume for Ripple, the company associated with XRP, is reported at $728 million, a slight increase from the previous day’s $680 million.

Claude AI’s prediction of XRP ending 2026 near $1.20 is reportedly based on technical analysis and data from prediction platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket. The AI is said to prioritize data-backed insights over narrative-driven forecasts, indicating a higher probability that XRP will remain below $1.50 by year-end.

    Market Signals vs. AI Forecast

Prediction market data offers a different perspective. Kalshi data indicates a 23% probability of XRP reaching $1.50 or higher by the end of 2026. Polymarket data reveals a significant decrease in the odds of XRP achieving a new all-time high, falling from 41% over the past year to the current 14%. Adding to the caution, a separate Kalshi market suggests a 59% probability that XRP will trade below $1 before the year concludes.

In the shorter term, Kalshi contracts show approximately a 66% probability of XRP closing above $1.35 and a 43% probability of closing above $1.37. These near-term figures highlight a potential for short-term price movement, yet they stand in contrast to the longer-term sentiment reflected in the declining odds for new all-time highs.

Current XRP Landscape and Future Factors

The current technical setup for XRP appears neutral to bearish. The cryptocurrency is struggling to maintain the $1 level and is trading below its 50-day and 100-day exponential moving averages (EMAs), with the Relative Strength Index (RSI) also indicating neutral to bearish sentiment.

Analysts suggest that past catalysts, such as the SEC resolution and the launch of cryptocurrency ETFs, may have already been factored into the market price, as they have not resulted in sustained price increases. For XRP’s price outlook to improve significantly, factors such as sustained weekly ETF inflows exceeding approximately $2 million, XRP reclaiming and holding the 100-day EMA, or a broader positive shift in the cryptocurrency market may be necessary.

While the possibility exists for XRP to fall below the $0.99 support level, potentially reaching between $0.85 and $0.95, a substantial decline towards the $0.50 zone is considered unlikely due to existing liquidity and structural demand from ETFs acting as a floor.

    Conclusion: Navigating Uncertainty

The divergence between Claude AI’s year-end prediction and the sentiment reflected in prediction markets underscores the inherent uncertainty in forecasting cryptocurrency prices. While the AI’s projection offers a specific target, data from platforms where real capital is wagered suggests that a cautious approach is warranted when considering XRP’s performance for the remainder of 2026.

    Why This Matters

This analysis is relevant as XRP enters the second half of 2026 legally cleared and institutionally adopted, yet remains near the $1 level it has hovered around for months. Understanding the implications of AI price predictions against real-world market data is crucial for investors navigating the cryptocurrency landscape.

    Broader Context

XRP’s current market position highlights the ongoing uncertainty surrounding its future price movements. Factors such as the potential impact of pending catalysts like the CLARITY Act and broader crypto risk-on rotations, alongside the need for sustained ETF inflows and technical level reclamation, contribute to this uncertainty. Prediction markets, where real capital is wagered, offer a more direct signal of market sentiment than narrative-driven AI forecasts.

  • California Governor Primary: Prediction Markets and Polls Show Becerra Leading, But Uncertainty Remains

California Governor Primary: Prediction Markets and Polls Show Becerra Leading, But Uncertainty Remains

As the California gubernatorial primary nears, Xavier Becerra is positioned as the leading candidate according to prediction markets and various polling data. However, these indicators offer insights rather than definitive outcomes and are subject to change and interpretation.

Prediction markets, such as those on Kalshi, identified Becerra as the favorite to advance from the top-two primary and potentially win the governor’s race. On primary day, Kalshi’s primary-advancer market indicated a 95% probability of Becerra moving to the general election, while Republican Steve Hilton was priced at 4% on the same market.

Recent polling data from multiple sources also placed Becerra ahead, though the order of other candidates varied. An Emerson College poll showed Becerra with 28% support, followed by Tom Steyer at 22% and Steve Hilton at 21%. The Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies poll indicated Becerra at 25%, Hilton at 21%, and Steyer at 19%. A Public Policy Institute of California poll showed Becerra at 23%, Hilton at 20%, and Steyer at 15%.

Factors such as Eric Swalwell’s departure from the contest and setbacks affecting other candidates have been linked to Becerra’s rise in these indicators. Notably, in early April, Becerra entered the race polling at 5% and trading at less than 1% on Kalshi’s governor market, illustrating a significant shift in market sentiment.

Other candidates presented notable positions: Tom Steyer had heavily financed his campaign, reportedly spending $200 million before the vote. Steve Hilton secured the endorsement of President Donald Trump. However, Kalshi, citing The New York Times, reported that this endorsement may have negatively impacted Hilton’s chances in California.

Late primary-day movements were also observed in Kalshi’s advancers market, where Tom Steyer’s position shifted from 33% to 40% before the article’s stated takeaway figure of 39%. These fluctuations underscore the dynamic nature of prediction markets.

It is crucial to understand that prediction-market prices reflect trading activity at a specific time and can evolve as polling, campaign developments, and voting information change. The figures from Kalshi on June 2, for instance, showed traders favoring Becerra, but they did not establish a final election outcome. The variations in polling data and the inherent volatility of prediction markets mean that while Becerra appears to be the frontrunner based on current indicators, the race remains subject to change.

    Why This Matters

The materials describe a narrow update: Prediction markets and various polls indicated Xavier Becerra was the frontrunner in the California governor primary. The exact order of candidates behind Becerra varied across different polls.

  • Chainalysis Files Bid Protest Against $94.6 Million ICE Contract Awarded to TRM Labs

Chainalysis Files Bid Protest Against $94.6 Million ICE Contract Awarded to TRM Labs

Chainalysis has filed a bid protest in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, challenging a $94.6 million contract awarded by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to its competitor, TRM Labs. The contract, for blockchain forensic software and support services, was awarded on a sole-source basis, meaning without an open bidding process.

Chainalysis argues that ICE’s decision to award the contract to TRM Labs without competition was arbitrary, capricious, and unreasonable. The company stated it had submitted a capability statement after the agency indicated its intention to procure the services from a single provider. TRM Labs has intervened in the case to defend the contract award.

The complaint was filed on July 27, and the court granted Chainalysis permission to keep the details under seal on July 31, citing the presence of confidential business information and trade secrets. Oral arguments in the case are scheduled for September 2, with a decision requested by September 10.

According to the agency’s justification, ICE conducted a market research period of approximately six days. During this window, eight companies responded, including four small businesses. However, ICE reportedly found that all responding companies lacked the necessary capabilities to meet its requirements.

The contract period is set to run from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027. The services are intended for Homeland Security Task Force investigations, including work on scams, cybercrime, and sextortion cases.

This legal challenge highlights the increasing competition and value of federal contracts within the blockchain forensics sector. Chainalysis has a history of providing tracing tools to government agencies such as the IRS and the U.S. Air Force. The Joe Biden administration has also focused on expanding crypto-tracking capabilities to combat ransomware.

TRM Labs has also expanded its government work, having previously secured smaller sole-source awards from ICE. A bid protest is a formal challenge to a procurement decision and does not constitute an accusation of wrongdoing by the winning vendor.

Key uncertainties remain regarding the specific details of Chainalysis’s legal arguments, which are currently under seal, and whether ICE’s market research adequately considered all potential capabilities. The outcome of the oral arguments and the court’s subsequent decision are pending.

  • Austria Fines Bitpanda 70,000 Euros in First Public Penalty Under EU’s MiCA Crypto Regulation

Austria Fines Bitpanda 70,000 Euros in First Public Penalty Under EU’s MiCA Crypto Regulation

Austrian regulators have imposed the first publicly disclosed enforcement penalty under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), fining crypto exchange Bitpanda 70,000 euros (approximately $82,000). The fine, reported by the Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA), stems from several procedural and disclosure violations related to the new EU crypto rulebook.

According to the FMA, Bitpanda failed to submit a required crypto-asset white paper to the regulator at least 20 working days before its publication. The exchange also circulated marketing material before the white paper was published and omitted a mandatory disclaimer, along with contact information such as a phone number and email address, in a separate marketing message. The case was resolved through an accelerated procedure under Austrian financial-market law, and the penalty ruling is legally final.

These violations are described as procedural and disclosure-related, rather than allegations of fraud or investor losses. The relatively modest fine suggests the FMA treated the lapses as compliance failures rather than serious misconduct, according to source claims.

    MiCA Framework and Compliance

The Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) is designed to create a unified set of rules across all 27 EU member states, aiming to protect investors and safeguard the integrity of crypto markets. The framework took full effect for crypto-asset service providers in late 2024, introducing a transition period for existing firms to secure authorization. This grace window has been winding down across the bloc, increasing pressure on companies to achieve full compliance.

    Regulatory Outlook

This enforcement action by Austrian regulators is seen as an early marker of how European authorities intend to police the new regime. The penalty lands as the industry navigates MiCA’s rollout. Brussels is also expected to revisit MiCA in 2027, with proposed revisions that could potentially tighten oversight, particularly for foreign stablecoin issuers.

While the specific details of the proposed revisions in 2027 remain uncertain, this initial enforcement action highlights the active regulatory environment emerging under MiCA. The extent to which other EU member states will follow Austria’s lead in enforcing MiCA penalties is also a point of observation as the regulatory landscape continues to evolve.

    Why This Matters

The materials describe a narrow update: Bitpanda was fined 70,000 euros by the FMA for failing to submit a required crypto-asset white paper to the regulator at least 20 working days before publishing it, circulating marketing material before publishing the white paper, and omitting a mandatory disclaimer and contact information in a separate marketing message. • XRP Whale Transaction Volume Surges Amidst Price Decline, Implications Remain Unclear

XRP Whale Transaction Volume Surges Amidst Price Decline, Implications Remain Unclear

The XRP Ledger has recently seen a significant increase in large transaction activity, with transactions exceeding $1 million surging by 280% in the past 24 hours. This spike in whale transaction volume occurred while XRP’s price dipped below the $1.00 support level. The divergence between heightened on-chain activity and price action creates an ambiguous market signal.

In the last 24 hours, nearly 40 transactions valued at over $1 million were recorded on the XRP Ledger, a substantial rise from the approximately 10 such transactions observed in the preceding two days. Concurrently, XRP’s price experienced a 1% decline, trading just under the $1.00 mark. This situation underscores the challenge in cryptocurrency analysis: discerning the intent behind large transactions when market prices are moving in the opposite direction.

Further complicating the interpretation, addresses holding between 10 million and 100 million XRP recently accumulated approximately 72 million tokens in a single day. However, this accumulation by a specific cohort of holders does not definitively clarify whether the surge in overall large transactions represents buying or selling pressure. Uncertainty remains regarding the specific actions of these whales.

Network activity on the XRP Ledger has also shown an uptick. Last week, the ledger recorded nearly 50,000 active addresses within a 24-hour period, a multi-month peak. This increase in network engagement contrasts with a reported deterioration in social sentiment surrounding XRP, which has reached a three-month low. Additionally, CryptoQuant has flagged rising selling pressure on Binance, adding another layer to the complex market signals.

The open interest for XRP has approached levels last seen around a significant liquidation event on October 10. This suggests increased speculative activity or hedging, but its direct implication for current price direction is unclear. Long traders have reportedly absorbed considerable liquidation losses during recent attempts to defend the $1.00 level, indicating bearish pressure in the derivatives market.

While the surge in large transactions and recent accumulation might suggest underlying interest in the network, the simultaneous price decline and negative social sentiment create a conflicting narrative. The exact implications of this increased whale activity are therefore unclear, and it cannot be definitively interpreted as accumulation or distribution without further data or a clearer market trend. Investors are advised to observe further developments as the market navigates these mixed signals.

    Why This Matters

The materials describe a narrow update: The number of XRP transactions exceeding $1 million increased by 280% to nearly 40 in the past 24 hours, while the price of XRP dropped below $1. Whether the surge in whale transactions represents buying or selling activity.

Source materials place the factual news in this context: BTC has recovered slightly from the weekend slumber and sits above $64,000, Ripple’s native token has failed to join the rather modest ride and continues to fight for the $1.00 support; however, it’s from the downside now.

  • CZ Retires Public Wallet After Spam and Front-Running Exploits Close Trading Signal Loophole

CZ Retires Public Wallet After Spam and Front-Running Exploits Close Trading Signal Loophole

Changpeng Zhao, widely known as CZ, has officially retired his public wallet, citing an overwhelming influx of unsolicited meme coins that rendered the address unusable. This move effectively closes a loophole that allowed traders to profit by front-running his token burns, a practice enabled by the transparency of the BNB Chain.

CZ transferred the remaining balance of approximately $965,000 in BNB and BinanceLife tokens to Giggle Academy, an education initiative he funded. The decision to abandon the wallet, rather than migrate its contents, marks the end of a specific on-chain signal source that had been actively monitored by traders.

    Spam and Unusable Wallets

According to CZ, the wallet became difficult to manage due to a constant stream of unsolicited meme coins. He stated that he was testing Trust Wallet when the interface became cluttered with these tokens, making it challenging to locate his own BNB. CZ noted that every attempt to burn excess tokens only seemed to invite more speculative sends, making the wallet “almost impossible to clean out.”

    Front-Running Loophole

This situation created a lucrative opportunity for some traders. Because BNB Chain transactions are publicly visible, traders could monitor CZ’s wallet for signs of token burns. A token burn reduces the circulating supply, potentially influencing the token’s price. By observing these actions in real-time, traders could position themselves ahead of the market reaction, leading to significant profits. Data from Lookonchain indicated that at least one trader managed to compound a small stake into a six-figure profit, reportedly earning $282,000, a 29x return, by anticipating these burns.

    Lingering Tensions

The retirement of this specific wallet address resolves this particular front-running loophole. Traders who relied on this wallet as a signal source will lose their advantage once the address becomes inactive. However, the underlying tension between blockchain transparency and the potential for exploitation remains. As CZ himself suggested, any new public address he might use could eventually be identified and monitored with similar intensity, with the incentive to exploit it measured in hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Despite the activity surrounding the wallet’s exploitation, the market has largely treated this event as a niche trading story rather than a significant catalyst for BNB’s price. BNB is currently trading around $602, with minimal price movement observed. This suggests that the market’s focus remains on broader economic factors rather than the specific dynamics of on-chain signal trading.

The last recorded activity on CZ’s old wallet was the transfer of funds to Giggle Academy, effectively turning the address into a burn address. While this specific avenue for front-running has been closed, the broader implications for on-chain data transparency and the ongoing cat-and-mouse game between users and opportunistic traders persist.

  • CLARITY Act Uncertainty Fuels Crypto Market Divergence, Influences Institutional Investment

CLARITY Act Uncertainty Fuels Crypto Market Divergence, Influences Institutional Investment

Regulatory uncertainty surrounding the CLARITY Act is creating a bifurcated market in digital assets, impacting institutional investment and highlighting the distinct regulatory needs of Bitcoin versus DeFi infrastructure. While major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana have experienced significant declines this year—falling 21%, 33%, and 37% respectively—certain DeFi-focused assets such as Hyperliquid have seen substantial gains, with a 72% rise in a single month. This divergence underscores the complex impact of legislative ambiguity on different segments of the digital asset market.

    Why This Matters

The materials describe a narrow update: The CLARITY Act, intended to define SEC and CFTC jurisdiction over digital assets, has passed the House but faces uncertainty in the Senate due to unresolved sticking points regarding DeFi treatment and stablecoin rules. Whether the CLARITY Act will pass the full Senate.

    Broader Context

Source materials place the factual news in this context: The CLARITY Act aims to replace enforcement-led regulation with a statutory framework for digital assets.

    The CLARITY Act: Legislative Landscape

The CLARITY Act, intended to define jurisdiction between the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) over digital assets, has passed the House of Representatives but faces uncertainty in the Senate. The House approved the bill with a 294-134 vote in July 2025. On May 14, the Senate Banking Committee advanced the bill with a 15-9 vote, with two Democrats backing the bill. However, unresolved sticking points regarding the treatment of DeFi and stablecoin rules remain. Current odds on Polymarket suggest approximately a 20% chance of the CLARITY Act passing the full Senate. Republicans hold 53 seats in the Senate, and a 60-vote threshold is typically required for passage.

    Institutional Capital’s Stance

This legislative ambiguity is causing institutional capital to hesitate in committing to the crypto sector. According to Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan, institutional investors are currently favoring AI equities due to lower friction and regulatory risk. Hougan’s memo notes that this uncertainty is doing real damage to positioning, leading to outflows from crypto ETFs and multi-year lows in spot trading volumes. If the CLARITY Act stalls, Hougan suggests the SEC and CFTC will likely continue with incremental rulemaking, a pattern observed in previous regulatory clarity pushes.

    Differentiated Needs: Bitcoin vs.

    DeFi

The differing regulatory needs of Bitcoin and DeFi are central to this dynamic. Bitcoin does not require new legal plumbing to function as a settlement asset. However, DeFi applications and oracle infrastructure are seen as more dependent on clear SEC-CFTC jurisdiction for institutional-scale tokenized assets. Hougan attributes the rotation into idiosyncratic outperformers like Hyperliquid and Zcash, which gained 50% in a month, to fundamentals rather than broader market trends. He suggests that if tokenization expands as expected, DeFi protocols could potentially serve markets as large as the $150 trillion equity market or the $200 trillion bond market, a scenario that a compliant Bitcoin ETF does not necessitate.

    Outlook: Passage vs.

    Stalling

The potential passage of the CLARITY Act before the end of the year could lead to a re-rating of DeFi and infrastructure tokens at a faster pace than Bitcoin, as their upside is directly tied to market-size expansion. Conversely, if the bill stalls, institutional capital is likely to remain parked in AI stocks and large-cap crypto assets, keeping them range-bound until Congress settles the policy question. The current market conditions, characterized by low trading volumes and ETF outflows, are linked to this policy uncertainty. Projects are increasingly routing protocol revenue into buying and burning their own tokens, a trend that suggests revenue generation is becoming a primary driver of crypto token value.

Jane Street Discloses Over $1 Billion in U.S. Spot Bitcoin ETF Holdings, Primarily in BlackRock’s IBIT

Jane Street, a prominent quantitative trading firm, has disclosed significant holdings in U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs), totaling over $1 billion as of the second quarter. The largest portion of these disclosed investments is concentrated in BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT).

According to the firm’s latest Form 13F, filed on August 14th with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Jane Street reported approximately $828 million invested in IBIT. The filings also indicate positions in other Bitcoin ETFs, including Fidelity’s FBTC and Grayscale’s GBTC. This disclosure marks a notable increase from the first quarter, when Jane Street had reduced its IBIT position by around 71% to approximately 5.9 million shares, valued at about $225 million.

Beyond Bitcoin ETFs, Jane Street also expanded its exposure to other cryptocurrency-related ETFs. The filings show the firm holds more than 1.2 million shares of Bitwise’s spot XRP ETF, a substantial increase from the 20,605 shares reported in the previous quarter. Additionally, Jane Street reported positions in XRP products offered by Franklin Templeton, Grayscale, Bitwise, Canary Capital, and 21Shares.

It is crucial to understand that Form 13F filings provide a snapshot of long positions in certain securities held by institutional investment managers at the end of a reporting period. These filings do not capture the firm’s complete exposure, as they do not include short positions, futures, swaps, or other derivative products. Therefore, the disclosed holdings should not be interpreted as a one-sided bullish bet on Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies.

As a major market maker in the industry, Jane Street’s trading activities are complex and multifaceted. The 13F filings offer a limited view of their overall market engagement, focusing solely on specific long equity and ETF positions.

  • Prediction Markets Signal Fed Rate Hold, But Divisions and Uncertainty Linger

Prediction Markets Signal Fed Rate Hold, But Divisions and Uncertainty Linger

Prediction markets indicate a high probability that the Federal Reserve will maintain its current interest rate at the upcoming September meeting. However, underlying uncertainties and past policy divisions suggest that the situation warrants careful consideration.

Market Consensus Points to a Hold

The Federal Reserve’s Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) is scheduled to meet on September 15-16, with its official statement due on September 16. Currently, multiple prediction markets show a strong consensus for no change in the benchmark interest rate. According to prediction markets, Polymarket’s ‘Fed Decision in September?’ market shows 74% odds of no change, with only a 25% probability of a quarter-point hike and a 1% chance of a rate cut. This market has seen significant activity, with $33.9 million in volume.

Similarly, Kalshi data indicates odds of no change at 73.5%, with close to $10 million wagered on the platform. Myriad data suggests ‘No Change’ is trading around 71%. This convergence across platforms suggests a market consensus for stability in monetary policy.

    Underlying Uncertainties and Past Divisions

Despite this apparent consensus, historical context reveals potential for divergence. At its July meeting, the FOMC held the rate at the 3.50%-3.75% range. However, the vote was divided, with a 9-3 count, and three members advocating for a rate hike. This internal division highlights that a hold is not a foregone conclusion for all policymakers.

Furthermore, a Reuters poll found that nearly 70% of economists expect no change in rates through the rest of 2026, adding another layer to the outlook. Traders have also reportedly been bracing for a surprise hike, even with a hold being the base case scenario.

    Implications for Financial Markets

The Federal Reserve’s interest rate decisions have a significant impact on financial markets. The federal funds rate influences the cost of borrowing money, which in turn affects investor willingness to take on riskier assets. When rates rise, borrowing becomes more expensive, and safer assets like Treasuries become more attractive, potentially drawing capital away from speculative investments. Conversely, rate cuts tend to encourage investment in riskier assets such as tech stocks and cryptocurrencies.

This dynamic has been observed throughout the year, with Bitcoin and Ethereum showing volatility around Fed holds and prices declining earlier in the year when strong economic data raised doubts about anticipated rate cuts. The upcoming FOMC statement will be closely scrutinized for any signals regarding future policy direction.

Treasury Proposes Rules for Stablecoin Issuance Under GENIUS Act

The U.S. Department of the Treasury unveiled proposed regulations Monday that will define which stablecoins can be issued or sold within the United States, as mandated by the GENIUS Act.

The proposal, which implements Section 3 of the GENIUS Act signed into law last summer, stipulates that beginning January 18, 2027, stablecoin issuers will generally be required to secure a federal or state license. Platforms will also be permitted to offer foreign-issued stablecoins, provided the foreign issuer adheres to U.S. legal orders and any agreements in place between the U.S. and their country of regulation.

“President Trump and Congress delivered the GENIUS Act, establishing a landmark framework and clear rules of the road for payment stablecoins, and Treasury is moving quickly to implement that framework,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated on X.

Starting July 18, 2028, more comprehensive restrictions are set to take effect, generally prohibiting crypto exchanges and other digital asset platforms from selling stablecoins to U.S. customers, “unless the payment stablecoin is issued by a permitted payment stablecoin issuer.”

Secretary Bessent indicated that the regulations aim to provide businesses with regulatory certainty while simultaneously reinforcing the prominence of the U.S. dollar. He also extended an invitation for public feedback.

“Treasury welcomes input from stakeholders as we work to provide the regulatory certainty businesses need to innovate and grow in America, cement the role of the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency, and keep America the crypto capital of the world,” Bessent wrote.

Potential violations of these proposed rules could encompass directly soliciting U.S. buyers, advertising a stablecoin as accessible to them, agreeing to a sale following an unsolicited inquiry, or assisting buyers in circumventing location restrictions such as IP checks.

Public comments on the proposal are due by October 19, 2026, which is 60 days following its publication in the Federal Register.

This announcement comes as federal agencies continue to draft the implementing rules for the GENIUS Act, legislation signed into law by President Donald Trump in July 2025 to establish a federal framework for stablecoins in the U.S.

Earlier this year, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency proposed rules governing the issuance and oversight of stablecoins in February. In April, the FDIC followed with proposed requirements concerning reserves, redemptions, capital, and risk management. That same month, the Treasury put forth proposed anti-money laundering and sanctions rules, mandating that issuers report suspicious activities and maintain the capacity to block or freeze transactions.

These proposed compliance measures have encountered opposition from the cryptocurrency industry. In June, Paradigm and the Hyperliquid Policy Center cautioned that holding issuers responsible for stablecoins after they enter secondary markets could lead them to withdraw from decentralized finance.
