XRP Crash: Analyst Sees Massive Opportunity

Crypto Market Faces Headwinds, XRP Analyst Eyes Potential Dip

Despite a recent, modest recovery, the cryptocurrency sector continues to grapple with the ongoing bear market. Within this challenging environment, one prominent analyst suggests that Ripple’s XRP, which has been significantly impacted by recent market corrections, could fall below $1 in the short term. However, this potential decline, the analyst notes, might present a valuable buying opportunity for long-term investors.

As of this report, XRP is trading around $1.15, according to CoinGecko data, marking a 12% decrease from its valuation last Monday. X user Ali Martinez stated he is closely observing the $0.90 level, indicating that a drop to this point could offer “a compelling long-term buying opportunity.”

While some commentators on Martinez’s post expressed skepticism about XRP breaching the $1 mark, others revealed they have already placed buy orders at $0.50. Martinez described this strategy as “not a bad idea.”

Recent activity from large holders, often referred to as “whales,” suggests that XRP is indeed at risk of further price depreciation. Over the past week, these market participants have offloaded approximately 60 million tokens. This significant sell-off signals waning confidence and could potentially trigger panic among smaller investors, leading to a more substantial sell-off.

Adding to the bearish sentiment, one anonymous whale has opened a short position on XRP valued at nearly $1.5 million. These large investors are frequently rumored to possess insider knowledge of upcoming events that could influence a token’s price. It remains to be seen whether this whale’s substantial bet will prove profitable or if it will be deemed a reckless gamble.

Conversely, other analysts maintain an optimistic outlook, believing the worst of the downturn may be over and predicting a strong rebound in the near future. X user CRYPTOWZRD pointed out that XRP closed the previous day on a bullish note, suggesting that a move above $1.15 could signal further upside potential.

In a more ambitious forecast, Joshua Dalton envisions XRP surging to $3.50 by the end of June, a target that appears ambitious given current market conditions. Meanwhile, Zach Humphries revealed he has purchased XRP for the first time in two years, drawing a parallel to a previous investment. “The last time I bought XRP it was at $0.50 and scooping it up at $1.09 feels like a very similar opportunity,” Humphries explained.

Underpinning potential upward movement is sustained institutional interest in XRP. Unlike spot Bitcoin and Ether ETFs, those backed by XRP have attracted considerable capital even during the market downturn. This indicates that major players, including pension funds and hedge funds, are continuing to increase their exposure to the token despite the prevailing bearish sentiment.

XRP: $1 Target or Sharp Sell-off? Analyst Cites Liquidity Signals

XRP Approaches Critical Liquidity Zone Amid Market Flush

XRP is nearing a pivotal liquidity zone following a significant market-wide cryptocurrency sell-off. Analyst Will Taylor, known on X as @CryptoinsightUK, suggests that downside liquidity has largely been absorbed, with larger pools potentially now situated above the current price. This development occurs as cryptocurrency sentiment has deteriorated sharply, with approximately $5 billion in liquidations across the market.

    XRP Navigates Long-Term Downtrend

In the latest edition of “The Weekly Insight,” Taylor characterized the current XRP structure not as an isolated altcoin decline, but as part of a broader capitulation event. He noted that Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP have all entered regions where substantial liquidity has been tapped, prompting questions about whether the market is poised for another downward move or a sharp reversal.

For XRP, a key level remains the liquidity band around the $1 mark. Taylor observed that while some downside liquidity persists in this area, it appears modest when compared to the larger liquidity pools situated above the current price. “The discussion is very similar for XRP,” Taylor wrote. “If you zoom in slightly further on the XRP liquidity chart, there is still a liquidity band sitting around the $1 area. However, when you zoom out and compare it to the larger timeframe liquidity pools above us, it becomes relatively insignificant.”

    Market Structure Under Test

This does not necessarily signal a bullish resolution for the chart. Taylor emphasized that XRP remains entrenched in a broader downtrend that has been in place since August 2025, making the current price action a critical test of market structure. A failure to regain momentum could expose the $1 liquidity band. Conversely, a successful defense of this level would bolster the argument that sellers have largely exhausted their selling pressure.

The analyst’s overarching thesis is that the market has reached a liquidity-driven inflection point. Bitcoin has absorbed key hourly downside liquidity, Ethereum has retested a trendline while clearing significant daily liquidity below its price, and XRP’s remaining lower liquidity pool appears less substantial than the pools above. In this context, the recent wave of liquidations may have sufficiently reset market positioning to pave the way for a stronger upward move.

“One positive factor is that we have just experienced a significant liquidation event, with roughly $5 billion worth of liquidations across the market,” Taylor wrote. “Historically, events of that magnitude tend to occur very close to important lows, if not directly at them. Again, that does not mean we cannot see another flush lower, a marginally lower low, or even continued downside.”

    Caution Amid Potential Transition

The analyst stressed the importance of caution, repeatedly highlighting the potential for continued volatility in the cryptocurrency market, particularly if instability in traditional equity markets spills over into digital assets. The newsletter pointed to a strengthening US Dollar Index (DXY), US 10-year Treasury yields near 4.532%, and an overextended Nasdaq as macroeconomic factors that could continue to pressure risk assets.

However, the report also suggested that the crypto market might be closer to a transition point than current sentiment indicates. Taylor posited that the next phase of the market could be defined less by widespread speculation and more by tangible utility, with institutions increasingly valuing networks based on their actual usage rather than solely on narrative.

“My view remains the same,” the analyst wrote. “I continue to believe that all of this is happening because the next phase of the market is going to be the utility phase. The institutions entering this market are not playing the same game that retail has been playing for the last decade.”

At press time, XRP was trading at $1.14.

  • Schiff Slams Dimon’s Stablecoin Regulation Push

Schiff Slams Dimon’s Stablecoin Regulation Push

Peter Schiff Criticizes Jamie Dimon’s Push for Bank-Like Stablecoin Regulation

Economist Peter Schiff publicly diverged from JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon on June 7, arguing that stablecoin issuers should not be subjected to the same capital and compliance standards as traditional banks. The stance was notable, given Schiff’s well-documented skepticism of the cryptocurrency sector.

In a post on X, Schiff stated his strong disagreement with Dimon’s apparent desire for crypto companies offering interest-bearing products to adhere to the same capital and compliance requirements as established banks. “That’s nonsense,” Schiff wrote. “Banks are FDIC insured and make risky loans under a fractional reserve system. Stablecoin issuers don’t.”

When a follower pointed out that this position seemed inconsistent with his history of criticizing crypto’s lack of investor protection, Schiff elaborated. He explained that stablecoins have a legitimate use case and that their issuers are not banks, particularly if the tokens are fully backed by dollars and invested solely in U.S. Treasuries.

Journalist Eleanor Terrett also highlighted the unusual nature of the exchange, posting on X that it marked the first instance of an individual outside the crypto industry advocating against applying bank-like regulations to stablecoins.

Dimon’s remarks originated from a public interview in late May, where he criticized the CLARITY Act, a bill that had advanced 15-9 in the Senate Banking Committee earlier that month. His primary objections focused on the bill’s provisions for stablecoin yields, which he argued would allow crypto companies to effectively pay interest on deposits without the safeguards afforded to banks and without sufficient anti-money laundering (AML) protocols. Dimon also made disparaging remarks about Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, a vocal proponent of the bill, stating, “he’s full of shit.” Armstrong, in turn, expressed mild surprise at Dimon’s comments but affirmed his continued respect for the JPMorgan executive.

Senator Cynthia Lummis, another key supporter of the CLARITY Act, suggested that Dimon either had not read the bill or was intentionally attempting to “mislead people.” She countered Dimon’s claims by noting that the act actually extends provisions of the Bank Secrecy Act to digital assets.

Dimon’s public criticism was part of a broader, months-long lobbying effort. In the days leading up to the committee vote, the American Bankers Association reportedly sent over 8,000 letters to Senate offices, advocating for changes to the bill’s language regarding stablecoin yields.

The issue of AML compliance has also been a significant point of contention. The Bank Policy Institute shared data indicating a 162% surge in illicit crypto flows last year, reaching $154 billion. The institute attributed this increase, in part, to a nearly 700% rise in value received by sanctioned entities, with stablecoins, predominantly Tether’s USDT, accounting for 84% of all illicit transaction volume.

Despite his recent comments on stablecoin regulation, Schiff has not altered his overall negative stance on cryptocurrency. As recently as the past weekend, he conducted a poll on X asking his followers at what price point Bitcoin would need to fall for them to concede he had been correct about the asset. He has also recently asserted that Bitcoin could drop to $20,000 if it falls below $50,000. Currently, Bitcoin is trading above $63,000, having recovered from a recent sharp decline that saw it reach a 19-month low near $59,000.

  • Cardano’s Crash Reveals Deeper ADA Issue, Says Veteran Bull

Cardano’s Crash Reveals Deeper ADA Issue, Says Veteran Bull

Cardano’s Steep Decline Exposes Deeper Ecosystem Frustrations, Analyst Says

Longtime Cardano supporter and crypto commentator Dan Gambardello has stated that the recent sharp decline in ADA’s price has brought to light significant frustrations within the Cardano ecosystem. Despite these concerns, Gambardello maintains that the project’s underlying technology remains among the most robust in the cryptocurrency space.

In an extensive post on X, Gambardello framed the issue as extending beyond mere price fluctuations. He argued that Cardano’s drop of over 80% from its 2024 highs should be understood within the broader context of a widespread altcoin downturn, rather than as an indicator of the network’s failure. Nevertheless, he acknowledged that the market weakness has amplified long-standing concerns regarding ecosystem support, leadership, public perception, and Cardano’s relative isolation from the wider crypto market.

“Let me just say…Cardano is down over 80% from 2024 along with so many altcoins. It’s not because Cardano is failing. It’s because altcoins are getting demolished,” Gambardello wrote. “So please try to separate price and everything I write here. To be clear: This is not me turning against the project.”

Why Is The Cardano Price Crashing?

Gambardello reiterated his support for Cardano, expressing belief that ADA could still perform well if a broad altcoin bull market re-emerges. However, his criticism is directed at what he described as years of missed opportunities. He posited that Cardano possessed the reputation, funding, and a top-10 market position necessary to shape its own narrative and bolster its ecosystem, but failed to fully leverage these advantages.

The post garnered attention due to Gambardello’s prominent and sustained advocacy for Cardano. He recounted his transition from Litecoin to Cardano before the 2020-2021 bull market, a move he characterized as one of his most successful crypto investments. At that time, he noted, Cardano’s prospects appeared compelling with the introduction of staking, community growth, and the project’s positioning as a solution to the blockchain trilemma of scalability, decentralization, and security.

This conviction, he stated, has not diminished. Gambardello described Cardano as “a great project” with “some of the most strong fundamental tech in crypto,” asserting that “it is not game over.” However, his perspective on certain ecosystem dynamics has shifted due to the non-materialization of expected progress.

“If I’m putting it simply, it’s been frustrating over the years to see things not transpire,” he wrote. “Things that would have helped the Cardano ecosystem so much. I don’t need to go into detail, but along with many of you, I’ve voiced my opinions on these things over and over.”

Gambardello observed that Cardano has remained “very secluded” and has repeatedly experienced periods of “unnecessarily bad optics.”

    TapTools Closure Highlights Ecosystem Vulnerabilities

The immediate catalyst for his post was the recent announcement that TapTools, a widely utilized Cardano analytics and ecosystem platform, is ceasing operations. Gambardello described TapTools as “the center of Cardano” and emphasized that its closure is precisely the kind of loss the network can least afford during a challenging bear market.

His frustration stemmed not just from the project’s closure, but from what he perceived as a lack of an appropriate response. Gambardello suggested that he would have anticipated a visible effort from leadership and the community to support a critical ecosystem front-end, even if it did not involve a direct financial bailout.

“I’m not saying every great project deserves a ‘bailout’, but when Cardano’s frontend and basically its dashboard is about to close their doors, you brainstorm…and you do it with positivity,” he wrote. “Leading an L1, you round up the troops and community with clear resolve to make sure that the heart of this L1 does not need to close their doors, especially in the worst crypto bear market ever.”

Gambardello contrasted the TapTools situation with Cardano Foundation communications surrounding other initiatives, such as activities related to the Brazilian Olympics and Token2049. He suggested that while these efforts might be valuable independently, they appeared misplaced given the impending shutdown of a central Cardano platform.

“TapTools shutting down is the last thing Cardano needs right now, and it just seems like it was an ‘oh well’ moment,” he wrote. “Cardano needs to keep their best players in the game right now, and that’s not what has happened.”

The broader issue, he added, is that negative developments often escalate into public drama on X, exacerbating reputational damage. Gambardello stated that the “constant drama” surrounding Cardano has become exhausting, particularly for those who have defended the project for years. This exhaustion, he explained, contributes to his decision to diversify his content, focus, and investment portfolio over the past year.

Gambardello rejected the notion that this shift constitutes a betrayal, instead presenting it as a natural adaptation to evolving markets and risks.

At press time, ADA was trading at $0.16.

  • DOGECOIN REBOUNDS AFTER SHARP SELLOFF

    DOGECOIN REBOUNDS AFTER SHARP SELLOFF

Dogecoin Recovers, But Faces Hurdles Near $0.090

Dogecoin has initiated a recovery against the US Dollar, surpassing the $0.0820 mark. However, the cryptocurrency is now encountering resistance around the $0.090 level, which could impede further upward movement.

The digital asset began its upward trend from a low of $0.0775, subsequently breaking through key resistance points at $0.080 and $0.0820. This rally saw DOGE climb above a bearish trend line on its hourly chart, as indicated by data from Kraken. The price also experienced a notable surge beyond the 23.6% Fibonacci retracement level of its recent decline from a high of $0.1008 to a low of $0.0776.

Currently, Dogecoin is trading above the $0.0820 level and its 100-hour simple moving average. Should the recovery continue, immediate resistance is anticipated near $0.0865. The first significant barrier for buyers is expected around the $0.090 mark, which also coincides with the 50% Fibonacci retracement level of the aforementioned downward move. A further push higher could see resistance at $0.0920. A decisive close above this level might propel Dogecoin towards the $0.10 resistance, with potential for gains extending to $0.1035 and subsequently to $0.1050.

Potential for Decline if Resistance Holds

Conversely, if Dogecoin’s price falters to break above the $0.090 resistance, a downward correction could ensue. Initial support is identified at the $0.0840 level, followed by a more substantial support zone around $0.0820. A breach below this $0.0820 support could trigger further declines, potentially pushing the price towards the $0.0775 level or even as low as $0.0750 in the short term.

    Technical Indicators Signal Mixed Outlook

Technical indicators suggest a mixed outlook. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) for DOGE/USD is currently showing increasing momentum in the bullish territory. Similarly, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) for DOGE/USD has moved above the 50 level, indicating a shift towards positive sentiment.

Key support levels for Dogecoin are identified at $0.0820 and $0.080, while major resistance levels are positioned at $0.090 and $0.0920.

TradFi Futures Surge on Crypto Exchanges as Spot Trading Slows: CryptoQuant

In its latest report, analytics firm CryptoQuant has identified a significant increase in traditional finance (TradFi) perpetual futures activity on cryptocurrency exchanges, even as demand for Bitcoin (BTC) shows signs of contraction. Despite this apparent dip in Bitcoin demand, the size of BTC trades suggests continued robust institutional engagement.

According to the report, this surge in TradFi perpetual futures trading is most evident on crypto exchanges, with Gate and Binance emerging as frontrunners. Many exchanges are reportedly expanding their offerings beyond cryptocurrencies to include trading in precious metals.

CryptoQuant attributes the rise in TradFi perpetual futures activity to growing demand for gold, silver, and oil, fueled by geopolitical tensions between the U.S. and Iran. This trend highlights an increasing convergence between traditional and crypto markets, with participants now utilizing crypto exchanges to access broader macro asset classes.

Gate is leading this crypto-TradFi convergence, recording $368 billion in TradFi perpetual futures volume. Combined with Binance’s $298 billion, these two exchanges have processed approximately two-thirds of all TradFi futures trading volume year-to-date. While other exchanges such as MEXC, Bitget, and Bybit also hold market share, Gate maintains its leading position through investments in tokenized stocks, metals, 24/7 derivatives markets, and indices.

“As gold and silver prices reached record highs amid persistent inflation concerns, global equities rallied to new highs driven by AI-related optimism, and oil prices surged following heightened geopolitical tensions between the United States and Iran, traders increasingly turned to crypto exchanges to gain exposure through 24/7 markets,” the analysts stated.

Concurrently with the spike in TradFi futures activity, spot trading volumes on centralized exchanges have declined. In April 2026, this metric fell to $679 billion, its lowest point since October 2023, reflecting a general slowdown in activity attributed to the bear market. Perpetual futures volumes have also decreased, indicating a contraction in leverage appetite. Notably, Binance, Bybit, Gate, and Crypto.com rank as the top platforms by cumulative spot volume for 2026 so far.

Interestingly, Bitcoin liquidity remains concentrated on a select group of exchanges. Binance and Gate dominate spot market depth, while Gate, Hyperliquid, Binance, OKX, and Bitget lead in perpetual futures liquidity.

Gate also stands out for institutional BTC activity, as evidenced by Bitcoin trade sizes on both spot and futures markets. The exchange reports the highest average Bitcoin spot trade size at $4,000, following a peak of $6,200 per trade last year. In the perpetual futures market, Gate also leads with an average trade size of $8,900, continuing a growth trend that began last year.

  • XRP Surge to $30? Veteran Trader Sees Prime Entry Point

XRP Surge to $30? Veteran Trader Sees Prime Entry Point

XRP Price Surge Potential Hinges on Bitcoin’s Ascent to $250K by 2027-2028

XRP could be poised for one of its most significant price rallies to date, though investors might need to exercise considerable patience, with the potential surge not expected until late 2027 or even 2028.

    A Long Road Ahead

This outlook comes from market analyst Dr. Cat, who recently identified $1.034 as a strategic long-term buying opportunity for the cryptocurrency. According to the analyst, this price point aligns with a robust Ichimoku Cloud support zone on trading charts, presenting a favorable risk-to-reward scenario for those willing to wait.

The target price Dr. Cat projects, $30, would represent a staggering gain of approximately 2,600% from XRP’s recent low of $1.09. Such an increase would place it among the most substantial price movements in the token’s history.

    The Numbers Behind the Forecast

However, this ambitious forecast is contingent on several critical factors. Dr. Cat’s model assumes XRP would need to trade at around 12,000 satoshis against Bitcoin, while simultaneously, Bitcoin itself would need to reach approximately $250,000. Both conditions must be met for the $30 price target to materialize.

The analyst also cautioned that the path to this target will likely be turbulent. If Bitcoin experiences a significant downturn, XRP could see a further 50% decline from its current levels, a risk Dr. Cat acknowledges despite his bullish long-term view. His analysis of higher timeframes suggests that XRP’s next major expansion phase may not commence before September 2027, implying a potentially lengthy period of consolidation for early buyers before substantial upward momentum takes hold.

    XRP’s Recent Slide

This projection comes against the backdrop of XRP’s recent market performance. Data from Coingecko indicates that XRP has declined 18% over the past week, 20% in the last month, and 38% year-to-date. From its all-time high of $3.65, the token has lost over 60% of its value.

The broader cryptocurrency market has also contributed to XRP’s decline. XRP fell to $1.09 during a sharp market correction that also saw Bitcoin drop to around $59,000, after trading above $70,000 just days prior.

    A Pattern Some Analysts Recognize

Some within the XRP community interpret the current sell-off through a different lens. Analyst Digital Outlook has drawn parallels between the present market conditions and the period following the SEC’s lawsuit against Ripple in December 2020. Reports from that time indicate XRP dropped to approximately $0.17 after the filing, only to surge past $1.96 by April 2021 as market sentiment shifted, marking a gain of over 1,000%.

While a repeat of history is far from guaranteed, Dr. Cat maintains that the $1.034 zone remains his critical support level. He believes this area offers long-term buyers a solid foundation, even if the wait for significant price appreciation proves to be extended.

  • XRP Surges From Multi-Year Lows on Bullish Rally Forecast

XRP Surges From Multi-Year Lows on Bullish Rally Forecast

XRP Recovers From Multi-Year Lows Amid Analyst Optimism for Major Rally

The cryptocurrency market experienced a significant downturn on Friday, with digital assets across the board seeing sharp declines. Ripple’s cross-border token, XRP, was not spared, plummeting to $1.05, a level not seen in approximately 19 months.

However, XRP has demonstrated a swift recovery. Earlier today, the token approached the $1.20 mark, encountering some resistance and subsequent selling pressure. As of press time, XRP had settled at $1.13, still representing a 5% gain on the day and having successfully retested several key support levels.

Despite this impressive rebound from recent lows, prominent analyst EGRAG CRYPTO has cautioned that the broader market structure remains challenging for bullish sentiment in the short term. The analyst suggests that XRP might still be navigating the final stages of a deeper correction before its anticipated rally can begin.

EGRAG CRYPTO highlighted a recurring pattern observed across previous market cycles, specifically concerning the interaction between the 50-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) and the 100-day EMA on higher timeframes. Historically, when XRP decisively falls below the 50 EMA on the monthly chart, it has often triggered a cascade of events: a loss of momentum, a price breakdown, emotional capitulation among investors, and ultimately, a final liquidity sweep towards the 100 EMA.

According to EGRAG CRYPTO, this historical sequence appears to be unfolding currently, with XRP’s trajectory still leaning towards the downside as the market seeks its ultimate macro bottom. If past patterns hold true, Ripple’s token could face further downward pressure before completing this cycle’s “capitulation phase.”

The analyst views this period as a necessary, albeit painful, precursor to a more substantial rally for XRP. Rather than attempting to pinpoint an exact bottom, which has historically proven to be an elusive endeavor, EGRAG CRYPTO emphasizes that the entry price will be less significant once XRP experiences its anticipated surge. Whether investors enter at $1.10, $0.92, or even lower levels like $0.70, the long-term gains are expected to overshadow these entry points.

EGRAG CRYPTO’s macro price targets for XRP begin with a more conservative range of $7 to $8, with potential for significantly higher figures, including $13 or even “mid-double digits.”

The analyst offered a strategic perspective: “Trying to catch the perfect bottom is one of the fastest ways to miss the entire macro move. That’s why I focus on: Position building, Liquidity management, Probability zones, Macro structure, And Not ego.”

  • Ethereum Outpaces Bitcoin in Holder Growth Amidst Price Slump

Ethereum Outpaces Bitcoin in Holder Growth Amidst Price Slump

Ethereum now boasts the largest number of holders among all blockchains, significantly outpacing Bitcoin.

Data tracking non-empty wallets reveals that Ethereum has approximately 189.49 million holders, more than triple Bitcoin’s 59.08 million. These figures, released by Leon Waidmann, head of research at Lisk, highlight Ethereum’s substantial user base, even as its price has remained in a bearish trend.

Following Ethereum and Bitcoin, Tether ranks third with 13.61 million holders, trailed by XRP with 7.8 million and USDC with 6.76 million non-empty wallets.

Despite this strong network adoption, Ether (ETH) has experienced a consistent decline over the past month, shedding more than 30% of its value. At the time of this report, the cryptocurrency was trading near $1,620.

The price weakness has also impacted companies that had established significant treasury holdings in Ether. Nasdaq-listed FG Nexus, for instance, has reportedly incurred losses exceeding $85 million on its Ethereum strategy after selling a considerable portion of its holdings below its acquisition cost. The company had designated ETH as its primary treasury reserve asset and began accumulating its position around Ethereum’s 10th anniversary, with ambitions to become a major holder. However, the broader market downturn compelled it to reduce its exposure.

In related analysis, crypto commentator Michaël van de Poppe observed that Ethereum’s daily Relative Strength Index (RSI) has fallen to its lowest recorded level. He suggests that this extremely oversold condition may signal that the crypto market is nearing the conclusion of its current bear cycle, with a potential turnaround on the horizon.

Market pressures have also been evident in the activity of spot Ethereum Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs). After 17 consecutive trading days of outflows, these funds recorded net inflows of $19.3 million on June 4. These inflows were solely attributed to ETHA, with the remaining nine ETFs experiencing no activity.

Cumulatively, Ethereum ETFs still registered net outflows of $168 million for the week. Data from SoSoValue indicates that these latest figures might suggest a stabilization of ETF flows, though a significant recovery will hinge on sustained inflows across Ethereum and other major cryptocurrencies.

  • CLARITY Act Momentum Wanes as Approval Odds Drop

CLARITY Act Momentum Wanes as Approval Odds Drop

Senate Crypto Bill Faces Uncertain July 4 Deadline

A target date of July 4 for advancing cryptocurrency market-structure legislation through the Senate is now looking less certain, according to Galaxy Digital’s head of research.

    Senate Calendar Creates a Bottleneck

Alex Thorn has revised his probability estimate for the CLARITY Act passing in 2026 from 75% down to 60%, citing a Senate schedule that has become increasingly crowded with competing priorities.

Next week’s agenda is expected to be dominated by Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA)-related business following a failed reauthorization vote, leaving little room for crypto legislation to progress. Thorn stated that the obstacle is no longer political will, as support for the bill has not waned. The issue, he explained, is time.

“I just sent this note to clients lowering my odds of 2026 clarity act passage from 75% immediately post-markup to 60% today,” Thorn tweeted on June 5, 2026. “I said in May that the Senate calendar was one of the biggest hurdles, and that picture has worsened. Last night the FISA reauth vote failed, so now next…”

Unresolved Issues Add to the Delay

Two sticking points remain on the table: lawmaker ethics rules and illicit finance provisions tied to the bill. Neither has been resolved, and the lack of movement on both fronts has further complicated the path forward.

Despite the lowered odds, Thorn expressed optimism about the bill’s eventual passage, though he cautioned that the timeline is now more fluid than many had assumed.

The CLARITY Act is widely considered the most consequential crypto legislation currently before Congress. Its central aim is to resolve a long-standing dispute between the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) over regulatory jurisdiction in the digital asset space. Under the proposal, tokens classified as commodities would fall under CFTC oversight, while those deemed securities would remain under the SEC’s purview. This distinction would reshape how exchanges operate and the compliance requirements for crypto projects. Supporters argue that federal clarity on these boundaries would reduce regulatory uncertainty and prevent crypto development from migrating overseas.

A Window That May Be Closing

Senator Cynthia Lummis had previously indicated July 4 as a potential marker for advancing market-structure legislation in the Senate. Thorn’s revised figure puts pressure on that informal target. His assessment reflects scheduling constraints rather than a shift in lawmakers’ views on the bill itself. For crypto stakeholders awaiting regulatory certainty, the revised outlook suggests a potentially longer path toward comprehensive legislation.
